I really love this style of tea, and I think it's hard to go wrong with it. This is not my favorite kukicha, but I like it very much. The dry leaf has a very large proportion of fine powder in it, and proportionately less stem. Accordingly, the cup brews an opaque green color, not bright like Matcha but darker and greener than most Sencha and even than some Gyokuro.

The aroma is of grass and straw, and the flavor is tangy, slightly bitter, and has a pleasant astringency. There's no sweetness. Medium-bodied: thinner than one would expect relative to its opacity.

I prefer the more twiggy kukichas but this one is decent for what it is. It's also not particularly picky about brewing.

The price is hard to beat. I would buy this again, not because it's the best kukicha, but because it's definitely the best one I've had for such a reasonable price.
