↑About Jacksons of Piccadilly
Jacksons of Piccadilly is a brand of tea owned by Twinings, which is in turn owned by Associated British Foods. The company started out as its own brand, and sold mostly tea and some coffee. Like many of the UK tea companies, they focused on black teas and English-style teas, although they sold other types of tea as well. Jacksons of Piccadilly was located in Wimborne, Dorset, England.
A 2010 study by the consumer advocacy group Which?, summed up in the article Should you put teabags on your compost heap?, found that Jacksons of Piccadilly was one of the few mainstream brands of tea available in the UK that does not contain polypropylene plastics. You can read more about this issue and other related issues of concern on our article on composting tea.
Over time, the Jacksons of Piccadilly brand has been neglected by Twinings; most of their products have been discontinued, and are no longer available. The brand is retained primarily as a brand of Fair Trade certified teabags. Their website showed an "under construction" notice for years, and has been taken down and now the brand only receives passing mention on Twinings' website. Back when it had a strong presence, Jacksons of Piccadilly did not have a particular focus on fair trade. The brand does not seem to still exist in its original form.
