↑About Meßmer (Messmer)
Meßmer (Messmer) is a German tea company selling both tea bags and loose-leaf tea. The company was founded by Eduard Meßmer in 1852 in the town of Baden-Baden in Baden-Württemberg, as a deli that also sold imported goods, including black tea. Otto Meßmer later opened a new store, in 1886, in Frankfurt, which specialized in tea.
Meßmer is widely available in Germany, often sold in supermarkets, but is not as widely available outside of Germany. It can be purchased online, however, through Amazon.com, in many different countries, including in the US.

Brews up a dark-colored cup that is less aromatic and less potent than suggested by the smell of the dry leaf. Oddly muted. Aroma is mainly bergamot, with only a hint...
Served with breakfast at City Herberge, Dresden. A pleasant herbal blend, very different from anything I've had in the US.
The ingredient list contains rose hip and hibiscus, which I often associate with tangy teas, too sour for my taste, but this one had a more subdued flavor, balanced, and only slightly tangy. I...
Served with breakfast at City Herberge, Dresden. A middle-of-the-road Darjeeling tea bag, not very complex, but recognizable as a Darjeeling, and a couple steps up from a typical black tea (definitely far ahead of Meßmer's regular black tea (Klassik), which did not impress me.
Light-bodied for a black tea, dark am...
One of the many teas I tried on my recent trip in Germany. A weak tea bag that was somewhat underwhelming, but that had some interesting complexity lurking in there. I'd be curious to try a loose-leaf version of this tea, and use more leaf, because I can see it producing much better results.
Aroma is weak but rath...
