Royal Tea of Kenya – CLOSED

Last Updated: Jan. 24, 2018

About Royal Tea of Kenya

Royal Tea of Kenya was a tea company that specialized in loose-leaf tea from Kenya. The company was alternately listed as being based in New York City, and Nashville, TN. Royal Tea of Kenya sold loose-leaf orthodox teas (traditionally processed, as opposed to mechanically processed CTC teas), and sold green and white Kenyan teas, which can be difficult to purchase anywhere.

Royal Tea of Kenya sold only wholesale, and briefly launched a retail website. The company closed, and we were unable to verify or get any information on the circumstances of the company's closure. The last social media activity suggesting the company was open, was in 2013.

Royal Purple Tea

The first time that it was brewed it had a mild taste and a strong scent. After being brewed a second time, with the same leaves, the tea had a stronger taste but was less aromatic. I enjoyed this becaus...

This tea is a little weird. I'm not quite sure what to think of it. It's kind of bitter, and has a bitter aftertaste that I don't like very much, but it has a really deep flavor that I kind of like. I added cream and sugar.

Royal Highland Green Tea

Style: Green Tea – Region: Kenya
Dec. 8th, 2011

The dry leaf is thin and wiry, golden in color, and without much aroma.

Upon brewing, the cup produces a dark cup with a wonderful, rich aroma, like one of the darker, richer Chinese pan-fired green teas, but with a vegetal quality usually only found in Darjeeling green and oolongs. The aroma is grassy and fruity, ...
