This is a bold, rich Assam, malty, strong flavored without being overly harsh. Perhaps slightly less edgy than average for an Assam of this strength, and this could be either an asset or a downside, depending on what you are looking for.
I find this tea is able to be brewed with more leaf than I normally use for an Assam, while still being pleasant and drinkable. It's not the most complex or interesting tea, however.
I regularly drink two loose-leaf Assam blends from Ahmad Tea, both of which I think I slightly prefer to this one, and they are much cheaper. They are, however, not organic certified, and that's a small plus for me so I can see paying a bit more for that. Still, I think that this tea is very pricey for what it is.
This tea is about the same price as Arbor Teas Assam TGFOP, which is also organic certified, and I think that is a much better tea, top grade and really outstanding. This tea was good but didn't wow me, and also didn't have any unusual or attention-getting qualities in the aroma, nothing to make it particularly distinctive or hold my interest.
