The dry leaf looks brown with greenish tinges and is quite aromatic. Greener-looking than any other Da Hong Pao I've seen before.

The instant I poured water over the leaf, there was a huge explosion of aroma...wow! I used a much shorter steeping than I normally would.

Subtle in flavor: little bitterness, but considerably sweet, as well as slightly sour. Syrupy mouthfeel; not much astringency but not thin either.

Aroma is very complex and pleasing. Floral, like honey or nectar, with a hint of roast, and nutty qualities.

Produces many flavorful infusions, but alas, I found the floral qualities were mostly gone after the first cup. The subsequent cups were full-bodied, with a little roast and some herbaceous tones, but not as interesting and more similar to other oolongs I've tried.

This tea is very pricey; while I think it is a high-quality oolong, I was disappointed by the subsequent infusions. I wish every cup tasted like the first, because the first was amazing, but I've had other oolongs that retained their complexity into the 2nd or 3rd cups, and sometimes even further, so I think in this price range, this tea is competing with the best of the best, and I'd be unlikely to buy it for this reason.
