Muted aroma, but upon drinking it becomes more interesting. Both strongly bitter and moderately sweet. Suggestions of anise, cinnamon, rice. Upton's description is accurate: you can brew this quite strongly without it becoming unpleasantly bitter.
Very complex for such a finely-broken tea. Don't be deceived by the low price and fact that this is so finely-broken: this tea is very flavorful and very interesting, definitely worth trying and a great bargain.
