After tasting the Breakfast blend, this one's a bit of a letdown. The cocoa, vanilla and spices are smooth and quite delicious, but I don't taste much of the tea. Other than a hint of earthiness, it tastes just like chocolate cream pie to me.
It's good, but it's a bit too expensive for something that only tastes like a cocoa blend.

My first pu-erh just had to be this, didn't it? As of now, I still haven't tried any other, and being an ignoramus of massive proportions about this type of tea, have no clue how it should taste. So what do I do? Drink a chocolate/nutmeg pu-erh with rooibos whose non-tea flavors (that I happen to like a lot) mask any detectable distinguishing characteristic of the pu-erh itself. I almost can hear tea connoisseurs' teeth grinding with rage, fists clinching, knuckles cracking, at this very thought. :-) All I know is that this would make a good wintertime comfort tea on a cold, snowy morn'.
My heart and palate must have a soft spot for chocolate teas, because I haven't run across a bad one yet--just different levels of "delicious". The dry-bag and poured-cup aroma here was rather rich and full, the color dark, the taste moderate (not strong but still satisfying). The flavor balance works well, though I barely can taste the cinnamon and orange, and the background earthiness of the rooibos. That's OK. As for value, I got this one free from a relative with whom I was staying, but I would pay a modest premium for a whole box.

I like this style of tea. I think it's a good combination between aroma and flavor.

I'm not wholly sure what this stuff is, but it's pleasant and I've especially enjoyed having a cup after some shamefully indulgent meals. The first time I think I did so in order to simulate desert, but there's not a lot of chocolate here. It's more like mild spice blend with a hint of muted chocolate. There's some earthy puerh in there, but it's overshadowed by the not-exactly-chocolate blend.
There's also the mystery of the bag. It's like there's some AI in there that detects the second steeping and turns off all flavor. I literally cannot get a second cup out of this.

Finally got to try a chocolate pu-erh!
Okay, this one was pleasant, but I feel like there are likely better versions out there. I can see why pu-erh can make a solid base for this kind of tea (the fish cake flavoring of it is muted by the chocolate), but it seems like the balance or the robustness of this one would benefit from a recalibration. In short, I'd like both a bit more tea and even more chocolate. So likely I'll need to use loose leaf to find my favorite of this tea type.
Note: It's best if you swish your cup a bit before each sip to ensure you're getting a decent amount of the chocolate flavor, which otherwise may settle at the bottom.
The second cup I added a bit of sugar and this worked well. I bet milk would go well with it, too.

Of the three pu-erhs we've tried by Numi (Chocolate, Cardamom, and Emperor's), this one was our favorite. Pu-erhs are earthy, reminiscent of a barnyard even, but this one has an appealing and definite festive aroma. Brings to mind eating warm gingerbread cookies in front of a toasty fire, or a busy bakery at Christmas time. Does not taste like chocolate in the cup, but the cocoa sweetens its earthy character consummately. Was able to get three decent cups from one tea bag, and I do think I would buy it again. Comforting, warm, and aromatic. Would pair well with an evening dessert or just to top off a satisfying meal. Stands well alone, but milk or sugar brings out the best.
With water brought to a full, rolling boil, this unique concoction infuses to a rich, deep, coffee black color, and when cream is added, it takes on a rosy mocha brown appearance and quality. Second and third infusions are easily gotten from one tea bag, so the higher price is justified for the higher quality tea.
Pu-erhs have a reputation for being especially good for your health.

The aroma of this tea is almost all chocolate, vanilla, and spices. I do not detect any Pu Erh, just the truffle like aroma of chocolate. Once I steep the bag I start to notice some earthy Pu Erh but it is still mostly chocolate.
Tasting the tea leaves me a bit disappointed, not much in the way of Pu Erh flavor, it is mostly Chocolate and vanilla with a hint of nutmeg. The price is steep for teabags, but the flavor would be good as an introduction to Pu Erh, to ween in a newcomer to the tea.

I am a huge chocolate lover. I LOVE chocolate. So I've been trying to cut back on it, and I enjoy tea, so I figured I would give this a try. I was hoping for something that tasted like hot chocolate but with 0 calories. :) When I tried it, it almost tastes spicey. I don't taste much chocolate unfortunately, and you can smell the chocolate a little bit. However, there is a hint of a chocolate aftertaste. It's really expensive, but a little bit of a treat during my workday. I recommend it for special occasions or for those days where you need a pick-me-up.

The aroma of the dry tea bag is mostly of nutmeg, but upon brewing, more complexity develops. This tea brews a relatively light color, a sort of light orangish brown, much lighter than I'd expect for any tea bag blend containing a significant portion of Pu-erh. The aroma, upon brewing, is dominantly of cocoa, but it's an earthy, herbaceous cocoa quality, like cocoa shell mulch, rather than the familiar chocolatey aroma of powdered cocoa or a chocolate bar. Nutmeg is still very present in the aroma, and the Pu-erh takes a definite back burner, although it's still present in some rather strange dusty tones.
I don't like the Pu-erh used in this blend, but it does blend well with the other teas. Overall, this is a very strange tea. More like a masala chai than anything else, but really more of its own thing. I can enjoy it, but it's not what I'd choose to drink if left up to my own devices.
Very Pricey. I was able to brew this tea twice but the second infusion was a bit weak for my tastes, and I let it steep a long time.

Excellent tea. Numi's quality is great. A single teabag will produce many cups of excellent tea.
