This inexpensive Ceylon offers little to get excited over, for better or worse. It is a fairly standard tea, with some light, woody tannins and a dash of caramel flavor. I noticed that it tasted best at a lukewarm temperature; it is pretty bland when hot. It is good with lemon and sugar, and would probably be fine on ice. The current price ($8.75 for 125 grams in 2024) makes it an attractive option for an everyday cup.

In contrast to Upton's broken-leaf teas from Darjeeling and other Himalayan regions, I am continuously disappointed by Upton's broken-leaf Ceylons, and this one continues the pattern.
Brewed as recommended, this tea is undrinkably strong. I recommend using less leaf and a much shorter steeping time. Even then, it's unpleasantly harsh. There's a bit of complexity, just a bit, in the aroma...a sort of bright quality, without being fresh. This tea is too heavy and I feel like it's bogging me down. I have yet to finish a cup of it!
