This is a mild EG that goes easy with the bergamot. Pleasant aroma and an unbeatable price.

This is a light, pleasant tea. It is only my second time drinking a first flush release, and it seems located halfway between a green tea and a black tea. The taste is mild, with a gentle nip, and it goes well with a little milk. There is nothing wrong with it, but I was expecting more, since it is labelled and pric...

This is made with chunks of dried tropical fruits along with some watermelon flavoring. The result is flavorful and fruity. A nice summer tea, this would probably be very nice on ice.

A light tea containing a good amount of peach and floral flavors. One can tell that there are artificial flavors added. A pleasant summer tea.

This is a pretty average, everyday Darjeeling. It has a mostly dry, woody flavor and aroma. Unlike many Darjeelings, it goes better with a little milk than with lemon and sugar. I wonder which tea estates are considered the best. So far Castleton is not getting me very excited.

This is a light, pleasant Darjeeling with a little peppery bite in the finish. The aroma is earthy and nice. It goes well with either milk or lemon and sugar. However, this tea is overpriced imho. My taste buds report that it is not greatly superior to an average Darjeeling, yet it costs twice as much.

This is a very interesting tea; I don't think I have ever tasted anything quite like it before. The aroma is complex, and the flavor changes as it cools off. It starts out with a grain-like flavor and aroma, and eventually it tastes more peppery and beer-like, with a mild taste of hops. Good.

Taiwan Jin Xuan Milk Oolong Tea from TeaVivre
Style: Milky Oolong – Region: Taiwan / Formosa60 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 3/5
Feb. 11th, 2026
The best feature of this oolong is its aroma, which has a bit of sandalwood incense in it. The flavor is bland at first, but gets better as it cools, and has a very light bite to it. For me there is just a dash of cream in the flavor. This is a pretty good tea overall, but it is nothing special.

Teavivre took a nice Ceylon black tea, added some bergamot oil, and then put it up for sale at a reasonable price. This is on the light and mellow side, with a good amount of bergamot flavor. Fruity and bright. I would say this as good a reasonably priced EG as can be found anywhere.

Yun Nan Dian Hong Black Tea from TeaVivre
Style: Yunnan Red – Region: Yunnan, China80 / 100 Aroma: 9/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 5/5
Jan. 21st, 2026
This is a good Yunnan. It has a very nice aroma of autumn leaves plus a little wood smoke. The flavor is earthy, with a dash of iron, but things stay under control. Adding milk softens it a bit. This is a mellow cup, and well worth the low price. Thanks again to RateTea for introducing me to another fine tea selle...

Style: Lapsang Souchong – Region: Wuyi, Fujian, China90 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 5/5
Jan. 20th, 2026
This is a very nice surprise. I am used to lapsang souchongs that are thoroughly smoky, in fact I even thought lapsang souchong meant smoked tea (duh) - but this is another animal entirely. It is mellow and earthy, with a soft mouthfeel. There is no astringency or unpleasant notes, and it is nice with milk or on its ow...

Style: Flavored White Tea – Region: ?????80 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 4/5

Champs de lavande means fields of lavender in French. On the product page, Upton brags about how Yahoo Life named this their best tea of the year for 1925. And it is a good one, different from the usual, that is for sure. I tasted a lot more vanilla than lavender, and the floral, spicy notes combine well with the tanni...

This is a pleasant, orange flavored tea. It is made in Germany, like a lot of Upton's flavored and herbal teas are, but I don't know what the base tea is or where it is from. Despite the name, it is not very sweet, and the orange flavoring is fairly low key. It contains some orange peel, and it does smell quite a bi...

This is a lightly smoky, jasmine flavored, dark green tea. The floral flavor is noticeable, but not very strong. It is well-balanced and not bitter, with a hint of ginger flavor. This is a good choice if you want a reasonably priced jasmine tea that is not overly floral.

This is a decent, budget-priced Assam. It lacks the full, malty flavor that a first-rate Assam should have, but it is not bad. A little thin and mild, but perfectly drinkable.

Kenilworth Estate OP from Upton Tea Imports
Style: Ceylon Black Tea – Region: Kandy, Sri Lanka75 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 4/5

This is a smooth, easy to drink Ceylon tea. It is versatile - it goes well with milk or lemon, and it would probably be just fine on ice. The aroma is pleasantly earthy. You can't go wrong by choosing this.

I don't know enough to comment on how healthy this tea really is, but it is made of "schisandra berries, burdock, yellow dock, lemongrass, dandelion leaf, red clover, and natural essences", so draw your own conclusions. I have never heard of some of those before, but it tastes all right, and has a mellow, herbal tisane...

Feb. 20th, 2025
This is a fairly light, snappy Darjeeling green plus some peppermint, and a dash of lemon (which the company website calls "lemon pieces and natural lemon essence.") Overall, it is pleasant enough. It is advertised as "perfect for hot summer days" and they recommend cold brewing it, so I will have to try it on ice at...

I was curious to try this. I associate Japan with twig teas, tea mixed with puffed rice, green teas, and matchas, and I never heard of Wakocha before - so this is something new for me. It is a good black tea, not as premium as the price may indicate, but not bad at all. It has a lightly astringent, earthy flavor, and...

Green tea with "cinnamon, berries, herbs, and flowers." That sounds good, but overall it is bland and light, without much flavor of either tea or adjuncts. The aroma is nice enough, and it is reasonably priced, but this is another disappointing tea in my last batch from Shanti. It could be that they are using up ingred...

This has a strong, pipe tobacco-like aroma. The flavor is mild black tea - not the "strong black tea" the label mentions - plus a dash of maple. It makes a pleasant cup, with milk and sugar.

I am pretty disappointed in this one, as I have had other flavored teas from Shanti that were very impressive. This is very bland, and lacks both spice and tea flavor. I made a few cups, and tried longer steeps, but to no avail. The list of ingredients is promising, but the tea itself is a dud.

This inexpensive Ceylon offers little to get excited over, for better or worse. It is a fairly standard tea, with some light, woody tannins and a dash of caramel flavor. I noticed that it tasted best at a lukewarm temperature; it is pretty bland when hot. It is good with lemon and sugar, and would probably be fine o...

I tried this both hot and iced, and while it is fine hot, it is meant to be served in the summer on ice (with sugar or honey of course, and a squeeze of lemon is good to have as well). It is mostly organic, with only the "natural essences" being not organic. The aroma is floral and fruity, and the flavor emphasizes t...
