English Teatime Decaffeinated from Bigelow Tea
Style: Black Tea – Region: ?????35 / 100 Aroma: 3/10 Flavor: 2/5 Value: 3/5
May. 25th, 2018
I tried this in another attempt to find a decaffeinated black tea that tastes like tea.
The dry tea bag out of the foil wrapper smells vaguely spicy if I hold it to my nose, but there's not much there. Adding water brings out a small bit of aroma, but nothing that really smells like tea. It smells lightly earthy and...
Lemon Lift® Decaffeinated Black Tea from Bigelow Tea
Style: Fruit Black Tea – Region: ?????60 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 3/5
Aug. 28th, 2017
The dry teabag smells mostly of cinnamon. There's a hint of citrus, but not near what I was expecting from the name.
Adding the hot water releases a distinct and pleasant lemon scent, but cinnamon is still the dominant aroma.
The taste is yet different. It definitely tastes of lemon oil or peel and is much strong...
French Vanilla Decaffeinated Black Tea from Bigelow Tea
Style: Vanilla Black Tea – Region: ?????30 / 100 Aroma: 3/10 Flavor: 1/5 Value: 3/5

Opening the foil pouch releases the scent of vanilla and cream, like custard or eggnog. Adding the water makes the aroma overpowering. This is decaf, so there is probably little tea aroma. Even if there were any, though, it would be completely masked by the flavoring.
The flavoring has a rich sweetness to it, but th...
Orange & Spice Herbal Tea from Bigelow Tea
Style: Fruit (Herbal) Tea – Region: ?????50 / 100 Aroma: 5/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 3/5
Apr. 30th, 2017
I recently tried some decaf Constant Comment and liked the orange and spice blend, so I tried this. This blend is, in a word, disappointing. Orange & Spice is much heavier on the cinnamon and while I can taste the clove if I look for it, it's very much a background flavor. I don't smell or taste the orange at all. This...

Style: Flavored Black Tea – Region: Blend60 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 4/5
Apr. 27th, 2017
The teabags smell really nice to me. The heaviest components are orange and clove. Adding water intensifies the aroma and brings out hints of cinnamon and sweet spice (cardamom? nutmeg?) in the background. The orange and spice overpower any recognizable tea aroma.
The flavor is dominated by clove with a taste that r...
Green Tea Decaffenated (Classic) from Bigelow Tea
Style: Green Tea – Region: ?????60 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 4/5
Apr. 3rd, 2017
It's apparently easier to decaffeinate green tea and still have some flavor than it is black tea. One thing I've learned about decaf greens, though, is to use hotter water than one would for the caffeinated varieties. Conventional wisdom for green tea is to use cooler water and shorter steeping times to keep from cooki...

Style: Earl Grey Tea – Region: Blend55 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 4/5

Upon opening the pouch, the teabag smells pungently of bergamot. Unlike Twinings, this tea seems scented with only bergamot and no other citrus. Immediately after brewing, the aroma of bergamot is still strong but, like most decaf black teas, there is little noticeable tea aroma. There's a little mustiness that may rep...
