Aromatic Earl Grey from Ahmad Tea

Style: Earl Grey Tea – Region: Blend

I'm not sure if this is actually different than plain "Earl Grey." According to the Ahmad US website, "Aromatic Earl Grey has a slightly lower dosage of bergamot when compared to Earl Grey," but the Aromatic Earl Grey is only sold in large containers (454g or 500g) and the largest Earl Grey package is 250g. The UK webs...

Rosehip, Hibiscus & Cherry from Ahmad Tea

Style: Herbal Tea – Region: Blend

60 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 3/5
Mar. 13th, 2019

Rosehip and hibiscus is my favorite herbal combination, so when I decided to try Ahmad's herbal teas, this was a natural for me.

The dry tea smells like cherry juice and sawdust. Brewed, the cherry is still prominent, but the rosehips and hibiscus add to the aroma. The cherry flavor adds too much sweetness to the fl...

Peppermint & Lemon from Ahmad Tea

Style: Herbal Tea – Region: Blend

80 / 100 Aroma: 9/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 4/5
Mar. 7th, 2019

I found a Middle Eastern store that carries a large number of Ahmad's teas and decided to try some of their herbal teas as well. As a brand, Ahmad has shown itself to produce high quality and flavorful products and this tea is no exception. Other than whatever "natural flavor" is included (I'm guessing primarily lemon ...

Kalami Assam Indian Tea from Ahmad Tea

Style: Assam – Region: Assam, India

85 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 5/5
Mar. 7th, 2019

Based on the previous reviews, I bought a pound box of this tea. Most of what I could say was already said by Alex in their spot-on review. I find that I get the best cup of tea by allowing it to steep for ten minutes or so.

Even with such a long steep, the bitterness is understated for an Assam. Though the tea gets...

Peach & Passion Fruit from Ahmad Tea

Style: Fruit Black Tea – Region: Blend

62 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 3/5
Mar. 5th, 2019

Both the dry tea and steeped liquor have a perfumy peach aroma that smells to me like peach Jolly Rancher candy (a discontinued flavor, sadly). There's just enough passion fruit to be detectable, but I bought this particular flavor for the passion fruit and am a bit disappointed that it isn't stronger.

The fruit fla...

Special Blend (Teabags) from Ahmad Tea

Style: Earl Grey Tea – Region: Blend

77 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 5/5
Feb. 28th, 2019

A local Middle Eastern market had a gift pack of this tea along with a free Ahmad tea mug for $4, so I couldn't pass it up. I decided to try it alongside the loose leaf Special Blend. One thing that I'll note is that, though I assume they're intended to be the same tea, the packaging on the bagged tea doesn't include t...

English Tea No. 1 from Ahmad Tea

Style: Earl Grey Tea – Region: Blend

63 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 3/5

The "subtle flavor of bergamot" is definitely subtle. I can't actually smell any bergamot in the dry tea. Instead, it smells entirely like a malty CTC Assam.

While the tea's brewing, I can just make out the citrus through the tea. I'm getting less malt than when dry, but much more dry, tannic, earthy leaf with a bac...

Special Blend with Earl Grey from Ahmad Tea

Style: Earl Grey Tea – Region: Blend

85 / 100 Aroma: 9/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 5/5
Jul. 15th, 2018

The dry tea is quite broken and smells almost like Froot Loops. Unlike most Earl Greys, though, the aroma of the tea is discernible beneath the bergamot.

The brewed tea smells mostly of malt and bergamot. The tea tastes more bitter and astringent than I expected. Based on Ahmad's other teas, I was expecting the blen...

Ceylon (Ceylon Orange Pekoe) from Ahmad Tea

Style: Ceylon Black Tea – Region: Sri Lanka / Ceylon

75 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 5/5
May. 19th, 2018

A local Middle Eastern grocery store stocks several varieties of Ahmad tea, including this one.

The dry leaves are quite broken, with medium-small pieces. The aroma of the leaves is malty, but not particularly strong. Once the tea starts brewing, though, the aroma greatly intensifies. It's not as complex as some oth...
