↑About Shanti Tea
Shanti Tea is a Toronto-based Canadian tea company, founded in 2009, with a focus on sustainability. Shanti Tea sells only loose tea, and only sells it online.
All of Shanti's teas are certified organic by EcoCert Canada.
During the first two years of Shanti Tea, many of their teas were also fair trade certified, but the company stopped using this certification process for a variety of reasons that they explain on their website.
Shanti Tea also sells teas exclusively in reusable tins, and/or biodegradable/compostable bags, and uses exclusively recyclable shipping materials. Shanti also focuses on selling teas that are biodynamically grown, a system for agriculture that focuses on growing tea (or any crops being grown) as part of an ecosystem, and focuses on promoting the health of the ecosystem as a whole. Shanti does not participate in the biodynamic certification process, but some of the tea estates Shanti purchases from are certified biodynamic by Demeter (Demeter Biodynamic Trade Association / Demeter International).

It is a good black tea, not as premium as the price may indicate, but not bad at all. It has a lightly astringent, earthy flavor, and...
Read Full ReviewGreen tea with "cinnamon, berries, herbs, and flowers." That sounds good, but overall it is bland and light, without much flavor of either tea or adjuncts. The aroma is nice enough, and it is reasonably priced, but this is another disappointing tea in my last batch from Shanti. It could be that they are using up ingred...
Read Full ReviewThis has a strong, pipe tobacco-like aroma. The flavor is mild black tea - not the "strong black tea" the label mentions - plus a dash of maple. It makes a pleasant cup, with milk and sugar.
Read Full ReviewI am pretty disappointed in this one, as I have had other flavored teas from Shanti that were very impressive. This is very bland, and lacks both spice and tea flavor. I made a few cups, and tried longer steeps, but to no avail. The list of ingredients is promising, but the tea itself is a dud.
Read Full ReviewThis is a tisane crafted from a few herbs that supposedly provide a cognitive boost: gotu kola, gingko biloba, and ashwagandha, along with some other herbs that presumable add some flavor, like sage and lemon verbena. It also contains peppermint and rosemary, which some believe have healing or stimulating properties. ...
