Green Apple White Tea from Bentley's Tea

I’m not crazy about this tea, but it may because the water I’m using is too hot — making it go bitter more easily. I am currently at my family’s for the holidays, and my method of brewing is to dispense hit water from a Keurig. The Apple is somewhat present but not strong or sweet enough to counteract the bitte...

An unopened and sealed box of 20 bags was available at an estate sale, so I grabbed it with no particular expectations. It delivered no particular impression, so I guess you can say expectations were met! :-)

The tea tasted like a fairly standard-order green tea, neither bad nor excellent in any given way. It is...

I have to admit to being a little biased against this tea based on the name alone. What is this, the East India Trading Company? Are we still living in the Age of Imperialism? Come, now.

That aside...

Nothing in this green tea tastes objectionable, but nor does it hold any complexity or nuance. The flavor is ligh...

Minty Mint Green Tea from Bentley's Tea

Style: Green Tea with Mint – Region: Blend

50 / 100 Aroma: 4/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 2/5
Oct. 4th, 2014

This tea does not seem to have a strong aroma, and what it has seems to be dominated primarily by mint--unsurprising, given that mint seems to possess a far more assertive aroma than green tea to begin with.

But where green tea fades into the background of the aroma, it dominates the flavor, leaving mint as a strong...

Earl White from Bentley's Tea

Style: Flavored White Tea – Region: Blend

63 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 3/5
Aug. 5th, 2014

Quite a nice tea. The base tea and the bergamot blended well, with neither one overwhelming or dominating the other. I wasn't quite dazzled by the flavor, but this is easily the best of the "Earls" I've tried so far. The white tea isn't bitter the way that black often is, so I suspect this is how I'll like my bergamot ...

Earl Grey Green Tea from Bentley's Tea

Style: Earl Grey Green Tea – Region: Blend

Jul. 31st, 2014

I like the idea of this tea a bit better than the execution, in this case. I'm not generally a fan of black teas, but bergamot is a nice flavor, so with the right green tea and done well, I bet that it would be lovely. Here, it was a bit too easy to overbrew the tea. The directions advise 2-4 minutes, but that's far to...

Jasmine Green Tea from Bentley's Tea

Style: Jasmine Tea – Region: ?????

50 / 100 Aroma: 4/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 2/5
Jul. 27th, 2014

A small, paper tea bag with finely-broken leaf.

Brewed carefully, steeped only 1 minute with about 160-170F water. Produced a strongly aromatic cup, mostly jasmine. The jasmine fragrance smelle a bit unnatural.

Fairly bold, but smooth flavor. Little harshness or bitterness, but very full-bodied. Enjoyable to ...

This was my favorite from the little wooden gift set from the company. My son and I devoured these bags first. Found the taste delightful and strong. Would love to find a loose leaf orange spice tea that I enjoy even more from an online vedor. I'm sure there's even better out there, but for a bagged tea this one had qu...

For tea bag tea, this was quite nice. A fine, middle of the road Earl Gray.It was not too strong or too perfumey, probably one to turn to when you just want something pleasant

Strong bergamot aroma, with a much more citrusy quality than a typical Earl Grey. The aroma is almost lemony and suggests sweetness. Flavor is delicate and lightly sweet. The white tea presence is weaker but is still present. The white tea has a lighter character. This was not what I was expecting, but is very ple...
