London Cuppa Loose Tea from The London Cuppa
Style: Black Tea – Region: Blend57 / 100 Aroma: 5/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 3/5
Apr. 5th, 2010
Very finely broken black tea--no semblance of whole leaf left in the mix. Aroma is mostly malty with a hint of rice-like tones. Fairly tannic even if brewed weakly.
The instructions on the tin said 3-4 minutes; 4 minutes yields a very strong cup, which some people may like, but I preferred 2 or less.
Overall ch...

English Breakfast from Darvilles of Windsor

This is a very strong black tea. While I tend to prefer slightly more mellow black teas, this tea is among one of the better teas of such strength that I've tried. Unusually malty for an English breakfast, and the malt is rich and fulfilling. Almost more like an Irish breakfast. Strongly bitter and strongly astring...

Simple, but as the title suggests, classic. It goes with almost anything and it's perfect for when you just want (black) tea without the extras

There is just something about red rose that makes it the best black iced tea. It seems to not ever go flat tasting even after hanging in the fridge a few days. Everyone raves about my iced tea, and I just laugh. It's such a bargain.

Smooth and silky on the tongue, with a malty aftertaste that Irish breakfasts are known for, but less malty than most. Regarding value, worth twice the price paid Overall a great value, rich flavor, silky smooth mouth feel.

This is my everyday breakfast tea. Deeper and darker colored than an English breakfast, this very full-bodied black tea (with a splash of milk) is one of the most satisfying teas I've ever had. Not elegant, but full throttle flavors and finish. I buy it 2# at a time for $32. UPDATE: Special Teas has closed its doors. O...

Strong but without an edge; malty, full-bodied, but not overly tannic. The dry leaf has a pleasantly strong vegetal aroma, unusual for a black tea, but I was disappointed to find little of this characteristic come through in the brewed cup.
Not the most interesting tea, perhaps, but a very enjoyable tea to drink, m...

This is a great tea. Great value. Strong but not too strong. Holds up well to sugar and milk. Good for the price.

This is a smooth, full-bodied, flavorful tea. I make this tea everyday with non-dairy creamer (doesn't destroy the anti-oxidants) for my first cup of the day. I haven't had any experience of the tea getting bitter if left to steep too long but it does brew very quickly. This is the #1 tea in England and, in my opinion,...

I've probably drank more Red Rose in my life than all other brands of tea combined. I like it best when it's been steeped for a fairly long time to get maximum tannin extraction. It's certainly never going to be known for it's aroma, but a hot cup of Red Rose will always taste like morning to me. You also have to gi...

This is a hearty great-tasting everyday tea. The aroma does not have the bouquet of more expensive teas, but the flavor is robust and delightful. If you're looking for a staple gourmet tea that you can afford to drink every morning, look no further.

I agree with all below. If this tea steeps more than a minute or so, you end up with a very bitter brew. One of the things I like about this is that I can get 4-5 brews from one bag.

I bought the non-pyramid bags of PG Tips and loved them...so I bought a bigger box, and this time noticed they were pyramid shaped when I got them home. They steep very quickly which I guess is good if you are in a rush, but if you leave it for more than 2 minutes, it's so bitter as to be practically undrinkable. I'll...

These teabags seem to be meant for more than one cup. The tea brews very rapidly and is very strong. It wasn't terribly complex; it had a muted quality...very bitter aftertaste but initial taste was a bit smoother. Very tannic; do not let this steep too long; a very brief (1 min.) infusion I find is best. Even then...

You want a tea that makes you feel less like Miss Muffet at a tea party and more like a tire-changing, farm-implement-using, PBR-swilling bad boy? This is your brew. Fiercely straightforward, startlingly bitter if left to steep. Pricier than it should be in the states.

British Blend - Premium Black Tea from Tetley Tea

Tetley is one of the best basic black teas out there. Unlike American brands of black teas, it never gets bitter and is enjoyable with or without milk. The caffeine is also strong enough to replace coffee, but unlike coffee it doesn't hype you up for a crash (well maybe if you drink enough cups).
