Paris from Harney and Sons
Style: Miscellaneous Blend – Region: Blend80 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 5/5

Harney's Paris blend is an interesting and likeable variation on the Earl Grey formula. In addition to bergamot, this has vanilla, black currant, and caramel flavors added to black and oolong teas. It makes for a sweet and festive tea that goes well with milk and sugar.

Style: Flavored Green Tea – Region: ?????60 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 3/5

This is a light sencha with a little fruit flavor to it. Yuzu is similar to lime, but this did not have a strong citrus taste. I bet it would be good iced. A pleasant tea.

Style: Black and Oolong Blend – Region: Blend50 / 100 Aroma: 5/10 Flavor: 2/5 Value: 4/5

This has a hoity-toity description, claiming that it is the "beverage of choice" at the Palm Court in New York City's Plaza Hotel. I actually went there once, several years ago, and had a cup of tea, which I don't remember as being anything special. Despite the pedigree, this is a fairly ordinary cup of tea - it is s...

Style: Pure Chamomile Tea – Region: Egypt30 / 100 Aroma: 4/10 Flavor: 1/5 Value: 2/5

The only other reviews so far give it 90 and a 100 points, so it looks like this is a contrasting view. I found it to be both a little bitter and bland, without much floral flavor or aroma. I got a sachet of this as a freebie with another order, so they may have been giving away some out-of-date product.

This was another good value tea offered by Harney & Sons. Hats off to their tea blenders, that is an area they seem to excel in - taking mediocre teas, adding to them, and making them into something better. This seems like a cheap Chinese black tea that is nicely spiced up (with citrus, almond, clove, safflowers, and...

Style: Black Tea – Region: Blend70 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 4/5
Dec. 2nd, 2020
This is a blend of black teas from Assam, Darjeeling, and Nilgiri. The first 2 I am pretty familiar with, but the latter not really. As the name suggests, it is an all purpose black tea. For me it works best with some kind of milk, but it is decent with lemon also. One reviewer on their site drinks it plain, so I t...

Style: Chai / Spiced Tea – Region: ?????75 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 5/5

This seems to be an inexpensive Chinese gunpowder tea perked up with some spices - cardamom, cinnamon, nutmeg, coriander, fennel, ginger, and artificial flavorings to be exact. The resulting flavor is light but good, and the price is reasonable. Interestingly, they do not recommend preparing this chai in the traditio...

I found this on sale at the Mills Mansion / Staatsburgh State Historic Site in Rhinebeck, NY, which is the only place you can buy it. It appears to have an inexpensive Chinese black tea base, which is flavored with apricot, red cornflowers, hazelnut, nutmeg, and something called "cinnamon spice." This is floral and s...
