Peppermint Herbal Tea from Celestial Seasonings
Style: Peppermint Tea – Region: United States of America80 / 100 Aroma: 9/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 4/5
Feb. 18th, 2011
I drink peppermint tea to soothe my stomach. It is pleasant tasting, but I don't think I've ever drank it for pure enjoyment. It provides a strange sensation of mild cooling after you swallow the hot liquid. Even though its herbal, don't brew longer than 3-4 minutes or the peppermint oil releases a bit of bitterness. W...

I drink peppermint tea to soothe my stomach. I drink this or Celestial Seasonings' and they are pleasant tasting, but I don't think I've ever drank them for pure enjoyment. Warning, do not drink more than one cup at a time, or it'll will cause intestinal discomfort.

The container of this tea smells really good -- very coconuty. I am a big chocolate fan and have been on a mission to find a really good chocolate tea. This one was a bit disappointing. Once brewed, the tea smells more like vanilla. It tastes similar to Celestial Seasoning's Sugar Cookie Sleigh Ride but with a hint of ...

Another impressive herbal blend from Sacred Rose. This herbal tea bears a strange resemblance to sencha, both in the appearance of the brewed cup and its flavor profile.
Aroma is very balanced: a hint of peppermint, which lends a creamy smoothness, and a strong dried ginger presence (less like fresh ginger). The r...

Smooth aroma with a hint of a candy-like quality, but not overwhelmingly so. Fresh, but not crisp. Just the right amount of peppermint. A hint of sage.
Flavor is smooth.
This is an impressive blend. My only complaint is subtle: most of the blend consists of highly broken leaves, whereas the sage consists of l...

Though the taste is a bit strong - this tea is really different from the usual herbal tea and very pleasant.

Like Tazo Passion, I find this tea far too sour. Anne describes this as "without the sting of a zinger" but honestly I found it obscenely sour just like those teas. I don't like it! I think they've added citric acid to this one just like with Tazo Passion.
In terms of the aroma, I do really like it. It's very or...

This is a great fruity tea. It is very light and so I can drink several cups of it. Sometimes I use tea bags multiple times and this tea is not very good for that but otherwise it is delicious.

Clean tasting: there was little of the muted bitter aftertaste that I often find unpleasant, and little sourness. Slightly crisper than a typical chamomile. Aroma lighter and more floral than usual. Medium strength, perhaps a bit on the weak side.
Very pleasant and I would recommend this among loose chamomile tea...
Spiced Rooibos Ruby Red Chai from Trader Joe's
Style: Rooibos Chai / Spiced Rooibos – Region: Blend50 / 100 Aroma: 5/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 3/5

Classic spiced chai flavor, but the aroma is mostly of spice without much rooibos. Similar to a masala chai made out of a lighter black tea. Aroma is dominantly of clove, with some cinnamon too. I would appreciate more cardamom presence as well as a stronger presence of the rooibos used as the base. The spice absol...

Combining jasmine and tulsi is an interesting idea, especially since jasmine tea works so well, and works with a fairly diverse array of base teas. However, this blend is dominated by the anise and chamomile. I think this tea is a bit deceptively labelled and marketed: rather than a jasmine tulsi tea, I think of it a...

I really did not like this one.
Strong, artificial vanilla aroma dominates. In a sense, it really does smell like a sugar cookie, a least, before you sip it. But in order to be cookie-like, it would really need a richer body and more depth. This tea is thin and does not have the sort of richness that I expect for...

I want to love this, really I do. But it has none of the guts of cardamom and none of the winsomeness of cinnamon. Instead, it's a mild, very vaguely spicy herbal brew that is decent to drink after dinner.

I like both apples and cinnamon. I tasted neither in this tea. This is foul, chemical tasting brew. Though "brew," with its connotation of actual tea, gives this more credit than it deserves.

I didn't like the way this tea smelled. I've been drinking tea for only a few years, so maybe I am still developing a smell for teas. Overall, I thought it was OK. I probably wouldn't order it again, but I am a boring green tea person.

The aroma of this blend is transient, which I suspect is due to the artificial flavorings. The aroma of the cup is strong, spicy, and suggestive of sweetness, before it touches my tongue, but upon drinking, the aroma seems much weaker.
The flavor is smooth, with a fairly strong natural sweetness due to the cinnamon...

Very weak for a chamomile, in spite of the generous quantity of leaf / flower that I used. I let this brew 7 minutes, and it was still on the thin side. These berries produce an almost transparent infusion: I can hardly tell that I have infused anything at all by looking at it. But the cup is strongly aromatic and the flavor is intense.

I've now tried quite a few different sources of tulsi and I can say that this is one of the best. This is the first blend I've tried--in the past I've only had Rama or Krishna tulsi, and I tend to prefer Krishna tulsi as it's smoother.
I brewed this with boiling water and let it steep for 15 minutes. Steeping less...
