Assam TGFOP Black Tea from Arbor Teas
Style: Assam – Region: Assam, India91 / 100 Aroma: 9/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 5/5
Jan. 4th, 2013
This is my favorite Assam I've tried yet, excepting a few wholesale-only samples.
Aroma is very complex, suggestive of bread, dried fruit (raisins?), sweet rice, and a hint of wintergreen. There's a lot going on in the aroma; I found myself sipping it slowly and enjoying the different tones that developed.
Very ...
Makaibari Estate Darjeeling 2nd Flush Black Tea from Arbor Teas
Style: Darjeeling Second Flush – Region: Darjeeling, India83 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 5/5
Jan. 3rd, 2013
I always get excited about Makaibari estate and I have not yet been disappointed. This was among one of the smoothest, creamiest teas I've tried from them. It has less bite than the first flush.
Aroma of the dry leaf is suggestive of monsoon/rains teas.
Upon brewing, the aroma becomes much more complex.
I fi...
Dragonwell Lung Ching Green Tea from Arbor Teas
Style: Dragon Well (Long Jing) – Region: China40 / 100 Aroma: 3/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 2/5
Dec. 18th, 2012
After being really impressed with the first four teas I had sampled from Arbor Teas a while back, I recommended them to a friend, who bought this tea from them. He was very impressed with the Gyokuro he bought, but he gave me this one because he said he didn't like it and it didn't taste like long jing.
I think if ...
Nepal Kanchanjangha Green Tea from Arbor Teas
Style: Green Tea – Region: Nepal67 / 100 Aroma: 5/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 4/5
Oct. 5th, 2010
This tea does not at all resemble what is normally known as green tea; it is darker even than many first-flush Darjeelings.
If you haven't ever tried any green or white tea from Darjeeling, Nepal, or surrounding areas, this tea will probably strike you as very unusual, but if you're familiar with these teas, it's ac...
Jade Oolong Tea from Arbor Teas
Style: Jade Oolong – Region: Nantou, Taiwan63 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 3/5
Sep. 28th, 2010
This jade oolong tastes very little like any Taiwanese jade oolongs I've had, and instead tastes more like a greener, medium-roast Tie Guan Yin. The level of roast is noticeably stronger than what I normally expect from a Jade oolong.
The aroma is of honey and wood. In the second infusion, some herbaceous tones co...
Makaibari Estate Darjeeling 1st Flush Black Tea from Arbor Teas
Style: Darjeeling First Flush – Region: Darjeeling, India87 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 5/5
Sep. 26th, 2010
I never cease to be amazed by what comes out of Makaibari estate.
The dry brownish leaves with a few greener leaves mixed in turn noticeably greener upon brewing--most of them become the color of a green tea, with a few olive-colored ones mixed in. The cup is a deep golden hue, no darker than some green teas.

Kukicha Green Tea from Arbor Teas
Style: Kukicha – Region: Japan77 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 3/5
Sep. 22nd, 2010
Very fresh, more vegetal aroma than most kukicha I've had. Liquor is exceptionally clear, flavor is exceptionally smooth, sweet even. Less twiggy, yet also less sencha-like. Very mild, but very pleasant. Very little astringency.
This is not the most complex tea I've had, but it's certainly very balanced. Beside...
