I absolutely love this tea! It's full bodied and aromatic. The aroma is bready (like most black teas smell to me) but also a bit fruity like raisins, and also Indian, like cardamon or something. The tea is perfect because I'm sensitive to astringency and it isn't too astringent, but it has just enough astringency to be...

This was a strange black tea, in that the in-cup and dry-bag aroma differed more from the flavor than the great majority of black teas I've had. As it turns out, that's a good thing, because the aroma wasn't bad—just weak and weird. The smells were reminiscent of something I don't often associate with tea: mild ch...

For a simple tea, this has to have the most convoluted backstory for any I've tried. First, the tea itself: it had remarkably weak dry-bag and wet-bag aromas for what seemed to be a high-quality, single-estate tea, though in-cup, the smell was richer and fairly basic. The flavor wasn't particularly strong or bold, bu...

A beautifully aromatic tea that a strong bitterness and thin body. I found it tricky to brew to satisfaction. I have now sampled three teas from Korakundah estate, and I find they are all a bit like this, although I think this was by far my favorite of the three. Thank you to Simpson & Vail for the free sample!

This is an odd tea. Very mild aroma, extremely mellow woody flavor, but then there's the most wonderfully fruity finish if you brew it just right. I feel like it would be better in a blend than on its own, with something else adding more body and flavor and this tea providing its lingering fruity finish. I did try blen...

The bags are individually wrapped, but in paper envelopes. The dry tea smells nice, but like a generic grocery store Assam.
The tea picks up a little personality when the water is added, though. It's not as bitter as I expected and it's quite a bit sweeter than I expected. The tea is mild, yet flavorful. It almost t...

This tea is the most like a Darjeeling that I've ever had from outside Darjeeling and neighboring areas (like Nepal, Sikkim, etc.). It barely resembled other Nilgiri teas, so I'd recommend it more for people who like Darjeeling than people who like Nilgiri black teas.
Dry leaf looks wiry and robust, inconsistent le...

An excellent, light-bodied black tea that was new and different for me. Prior to trying this tea, I had tried a handful of Nilgiri teas, but none had wowed me; most tasted a lot like generic black teas. This tea definitely stood out.
Brews up a light-colored cup, with a clear color, a lot like a second-flush Darje...

The aroma of the tea is quite sweet, blending notes of molasses and baking bread with a slight undertone of roasted peanuts. It is rich and warming, just what one expects from a black tea.
The taste is surprisingly sweet and creamy, it manages to be fairly smooth while also being brisk and a touch astringent. The ta...

I received a sample of this - and as I don't often have time for loose tea I made a whole bunch and had 1 cup hot and the rest iced. It is a good smelling and OK tasting black tea. Not bitter - and easy to drink.
Leaves are broken finely.
Brewed it again for my 9 year old who likes it "British" with milk. Sh...

This is a standard black tea; it is mild, and not very complex. I let it sit for a good six minutes, and it still did not taste bitter or astringent. I think I would have preferred a richer tasting tea, but I still appreciate the quality of this one.

This tea has a really sweet flavor. It tastes rich and strong, and not bitter at all. It's interesting. I like it. I added cream and sugar.

I thought this tea was pretty good, it wasn't terribly outstanding, but it satisfied my craving for a basic black, and the price seemed reasonable. With the combined price and quality, I feel like this tea could compete and overthrow my regular bagged blacks any day. I would buy it again if there were a Wegmans close...

This tea is good. It has a mild flavor, I think I would like it more if it were a little sharper, but it's still really good. I added cream and sugar.

This tea had a very pleasant-smelling dry leaf, but I could not produce a satisfactory cup by brewing it: it struck me as weak. Dry leaf is relatively finely broken, but smells very pleasing, with hints of wintergreen.
I used a lot of leaf, but in spite of that, upon brewing, this tea came out quite weak. Aroma of...

What a lovely aroma of fresh, woodsy, sweet florals. Both the dry and wet leaves give off this great scent. The tea liquor is a medium amber and has the very pleasant taste of what I might imagine would occur if the dry forest floor were brewable, crisp, smooth, sweet, somewhat earthy - the dry crisp earthy. Perhaps...

This was my first Nilgiri tea. I have heard Nilgiris described as being similar to Ceylon and I can see this. It's definitely more similar to a a lower-elevation Ceylon than it is to any other Indian tea I've tried. I don't notice much high-grown character in this tea.
I also think it's reminiscent of a Hubei Kee...

A lovely tea. Almost delicate, almost sweet, almost berry-like. Not much like the Ceylon teas it supposedly resembles. I think it could stand up easily to it's big brother, Darjeeling. It is bright, but smooth, with no tannic overtones. It is also Organic!
