Vanilla Spice from Murchie's Tea & Coffee Ltd
Style: Vanilla Chai – Region: Blend88 / 100 Aroma: 9/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 4/5

Looking over the large ingredients list for a loose tea (Keemun and Ceylon tea, cinnamon, ginger, fennel, cocoa nibs, cardamom seeds, roasted carob, Indian sarsparilla root, natural and artificial flavors), it seemed a little disjointed. I wasn't sure this was going to work. I'll assure that it does, very nicely.

This seems like it was named for the ski resort in the French alps, and I could see brewing a pot of this after a day on the ski slopes. I have had if in the past and liked it, but this batch I am rating in 2023 is not up to their standard imo. The flavors seem weak and the overall experience is a little watery. It i...

I bought this 15-sachet sack for a couple bucks less, at the same suburban Dallas H-E-B store as Chai Diaries' 15-sachet can of Bombay Masala Chai. Teapigs' chai, while still somewhat expensive, is *far* better, each pyramid sachet holding about twice as much content, filling it up when wet, with noticeably higher qua...

Somehow, this Bigelow offering escaped me for many years, but it finally emerged from hiding and surrendered to my tea-greedy clutches at a Denver-area hotel—and only then, because striking a huge deer at full speed east of town totaled my vehicle. After that ordeal, and stuck at the hotel amid 30 hours of cold rain...

I do like that fact that real masala chai blends are now available in the USA, since it is a style that I enjoy, but this is not a favorite. The gingerbread aroma is nice, but there is too much hot pepper in this for my palate, and not enough cardomom and cinnamon. You might like it if you enjoy lots of black pepper i...

One-litre pot at home, made from a mixture of black tea leaves, cinnamon, cloves, pepper, ginger, and cardamom, all organic. Pours slightly hazy dark brown (against white china) with no sediment. Clear aroma of black tea leaves and cinnamon, with notes of ginger and touches of pepper. Bitter, leafy flavour with notes o...

I first tried this tea on vacation, at a breakfast cafe in Stowe, VT, that was way overpriced for what's offered. That's a description fitting pretty much everything in the area except for the fabulous Piecasso Pizza and any of the Trapp Family's Austrian desserts. That I naively paid about three bucks for a small cu...

This tea is all about the added flavors. The dry tea smells strongly of green apple peels. Adding hot water brings out a bit of spice, predominantly cinnamon.
I don't taste or smell any tea. The flavor is mostly cinnamon with a bit of ginger heat and some apple in the background and tastes like those powdered hot ci...

Appearance: Fairly saturated reddish brown. Looks pretty much the part of chai.
Aroma: Here is my conundrum. The tea smells so spicy and aromatic in the tin but the liquid is more of a black tea, malty presence with some mild cardamom.
Taste: This is a solid chai tea. It has really good malty notes but I’d l...

I was a little uncertain what to expect here, since Murchie's teas generally are very good to excellent, but their bagged "Traditional Chai" offering was somewhat flat and disappointing. No worries..."Bombay Chai" lives up to the name, and is a worthy addition to the tea shelf on your pantry, especially if you like yo...

Since I like chais a lot in general, I thought I'd try this one on for fun and variety, after seeing it deeply discounted at a Sprouts. Maybe there's a good reason it was discounted a lot.
The dry-bag aroma is all cinnamon, and quite strongly so. The wet-bag aroma was almost all cinnamon, not quite as strong, but ...

For a bagged tea, this isn't bad. It diffuses quickly and has a pleasantly strong aroma and flavor. The cinnamon is at a good intensity for me and it blends well with the black tea. This will be part of my collection of bagged teas at work from now on.

Although good, and a decent value for the currency-adjusted price, this tea fell slightly off expectations for a company that usually yields outstanding quality. Maybe the loose-leaf version is better, and the latter certainly smelled amazing in their Victoria store.

I love chai, so I tried Chai Love. It was one of the least chai-like of chais I've had, but yet, still strangely satisfying and tasty. It also had perhaps the greatest aromatic discrepancy I've encountered between dry-leaf, in-cup and wet-leaf scents.
The dry leaf is the most truly chai-like sensation (smell or t...

Being a sucker for all kinds of strong and/or spicy food and drink, I've grown quite fond of good chais, in all their wonderful variety of formulations. As such, my default will be to rate them fairly well unless they prove unfit for human consumption. This rates well. It's not up to par with most loose chais I've h...

This isn't the best chai I've had but it's tolerable and if someone made it for me I would drink it again. I had mine without milk but I have a feeling it would be better with milk. On the plus side it's a fairly easy to find and it's affordable, I saw it being sold for $3.29 for 20 teabags. If you're a bigger fan of c...

While I normally love chai, this one fell short in my book. I've read reviews from others who say they found it to be a predominantly vanilla flavor with a touch of chai spice... I disagree. To me, the aroma seems watered down, and the flavor is almost nutty. I hardly taste the chai at all, but it's more reminiscent of...

To date, I’ve never found a chai I didn’t like, and this one was no different. Most chai is smooth, but this one seemed to go above and beyond; it was like drinking silk. This is on the short list for my favorite chai (at least for now). It has a warm, earthy flavor with just a bit of bite to it. It's definitely best served warm, or at least lukewarm. The aroma doesn't stand out in any significant way, but the flavor is excellent.
