When Life Gives You Lemons Add Mint & Ginger from Trader Joe's

Style: Flavored Green Tea – Region: Blend

80 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 5/5
May. 13th, 2019

The citrus and peppermint work surprisingly well to create a bright cup. The orange and lemon blend in a way that creates a broad citrus experience without either one dominating. The second cup I made was basically identical to the first, which is impressive. All in all, this is a decent tea!

Ginseng Green from Adagio Teas

Style: Ginseng Green Tea – Region: China

90 / 100 Aroma: 9/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 4/5
Oct. 29th, 2018

I wasn't sure whether I would like this one or not, but I found it delightfully refreshing. The ginseng gives the tea a bright yet herbaceous flavor. The light feeling that the tea imparts is quite nice. I'm glad I tried this one.

I didn't add any creamer or sweetener to this tea.

This is an excellent floral-flavored green tea. The flavors blend beautifully and smoothly. For my second cup, I added a bit of honey, which managed to enhance the flavor without dominating it. Wonderfully sweet!

If you like floral teas (such as jasmine green teas), this is definitely one to try. Lavender and rose a...

Cherry Marzipan (Skin Smart) from Tea Forte

Style: Flavored Green Tea – Region: Blend

57 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 2/5 Value: 3/5
Nov. 24th, 2015

This tea wasn't the worst, but it wasn't really for me. The aroma was better than the flavor. It's possible I over-steeped it, as it went a bit bitter in a distinctively green tea fashion. Basically, I like the idea of this tea better than its execution.

70 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 4/5

I'm not big on genmaichas, but the light baked rice flavor in this one is comforting. It's nice when I'm in the mood for something savory, but not bitter. No spiciness or sweetness, the flavor is uncomplicated in a way that's nice sometimes.

Orange Sencha from Two Leaves and a Bud

Style: Fruit Green Tea – Region: China

37 / 100 Aroma: 4/10 Flavor: 2/5 Value: 2/5

Meh. To me, the orange flavor wasn't enough to compete with the bitter tea. I'm not particularly into in orange alone as a flavoring, anyway. I saw fannings at the bottom which I suspect were increasing the bitterness over time. Adding honey helped, but overall this tea simply isn't worth the price.

70 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 3/5

I taste the apricot much more strongly than the green tea, though the green tea does give it body. It could use a little something (like coconut) to add sweetness and complexity, but it's very good. The aroma of apricot is strong and delicious.

Style: Green Tea with Mint – Region: Blend

70 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 4/5
Apr. 6th, 2015

This is probably my favorite tea by Ahmad so far -- great for when you're in a sweet mood. This one smells exactly like those after dinner peppermints you can get free at many restaurants. If you don't add any sweetener, it can go a bit bitter. But if you add honey, then it also *tastes* exactly like those mints. Defin...

Mar. 13th, 2015

Quite meh. This tea goes bitter too easily and the lemon isn't nearly bright enough for me. Makes multiple cups easily, so that's good if you like it. Unfortunately, though it isn't the worst, it's far from the best tea, imho.

Acai Green Tea from Republic of Tea

Feb. 12th, 2015

Definitely a fruity, juicy tea in a delightful way. I'd like it more if the flavor was either more complex or more robust, but it's pretty solid. The acai is distinct and good. I don't really taste a lot of the green tea flavor, but it does seem to provide substance.

This got a rating of being an outstanding value b...

73 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 4/5
Feb. 10th, 2015

Not a bad tea. Not bitter at all. The strongest aroma and flavor by far is the honey, which is strong but doesn't come off as fake. I think I catch a hint of the ginseng, but it's hard to detect. The green tea provides more body than flavor.

Since the tea is in fannings (as are all the Republic of Tea bags), it def...

Easily one of the best ginger blends I've ever had. Smooth, soothing, invigorating, and bright--without being overpowering. An excellent choice for someone new to ginger teas who might find the straight stuff a bit too intense. The lemon blends well and the green tea gives it body. It doesn't go bitter easily, and mult...

Fennel Spice - Savory Tea from Numi Organic Tea

Style: Flavored Green Tea – Region: Blend

53 / 100 Aroma: 5/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 3/5
Nov. 20th, 2014

Okay, the first thing to know is that I'm not a licorice fan. Fennel = licorice. Hence, I saved this for the last of the savory teas to try.

Honestly, it wasn't as bad as I was worrying it would be. It was far from my favorite, but the taste was subtler and smoother than I expected, and the spice complimented it wel...

Nov. 18th, 2014

Of the savory line of teas from Numi, this is one I particularly looked forward to trying. Unfortunately, I find myself underwhelmed. The blend of herbs and spices isn't bad, but is weaker in flavor than I was hoping. The spices are good, but need to be more robust. There is certainly a vegetal flavor, but it isn't dis...

Compared to a few similar teas I've had in the past, this is the best so far. The toasted rice flavor is mellow and smooth, and I actually enjoyed it! This isn't my favorite style and I can't see myself craving it often, be it's very drinkable.

Not bad, but not as impressive as the other "savory" offerings by Numi. This one has a hint of saltiness or something. I feel like the mixture of herbs and spices in this one was a great idea, but maybe it needs a different balance of them.

Worth a shot, but not as strong as the others.

Broccoli Cilantro - Savory Tea from Numi Organic Tea

Style: Flavored Green Tea – Region: Blend

97 / 100 Aroma: 10/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 4/5
Nov. 6th, 2014

Just bought a mixed pack of Numi's "savory" teas, and this one does not disappoint. It tastes a bit like a well-spiced vegetable soup, without tasting salty or "brothy". At once soothing and invigorating, this is a tea (there's decaf green tea in it) that I could see myself pouring to cope with a winter cold.

As per...

Not a bad green tea. It has a little ginger-like flair, though ginger is not listed as an ingredient. The peppermint and lemongrass are subtle. I don't know what gingko tastes like, but it must blend pretty well because I don't taste anything off putting.

Neither bland nor fantastic, it's certainly worth trying at l...

Very fresh, fruity tea! The jasmine is muted and well blended with the tea and peach flavors. The peach is at the ideal strength--neither hidden nor overwhelming, and tasting natural rather than fake. I brewed it longer than I was expecting to because the tea seemed to be diffusing very slowly. This may have been becau...

Though the cranberry flavoring isn't the most impressive or fresh tasting, it's the best thing I like about this tea. I don't really taste the tea itself, though it does give the tea some body. Unfortunately, the halfway decent first cup changed dramatically into a non-existent second cup. Very disappointed in this.

If you like the idea of drinking wild grasses mixed with a bit of mint, this tea is for you. I find that these flavors initially clash (perhaps because they weren't exactly what I expected) and don't blend the way they should, though the more I sip the more it grows on me. Certainly not a favorite, but I do think there...

Aug. 11th, 2014

This tea is a bit meh to me. It's not bad, exactly, but it's very ordinary and not really what it should be. I like teas with lemon to have a brighter, bolder flavor. In this tea the lemon is very muted. If you want a dominant green tea flavor with just a hint of lemon, you'll probably be more impressed with this than ...

This tea needs a really short steep time for me--say, 30 seconds--in order to be pleasing. Otherwise, it quickly becomes bitter. In fact, by the flavor, I would have guessed this was a black tea.

Not too bad if the steeping is kept brief, but there are a lot of teas I've enjoyed more.

Aug. 2nd, 2014

This is a lovely tea. The green apple flavoring was pleasant and natural, not artificial or excessively tart. It went very nicely with the green tea. Great for when you want a lightly sweet fruit tea.

I do wish the flavor was a bit stronger--the more the tea cooled down, the more muted its flavor became. So once you...
