Plantation Mint® Black Tea from Bigelow Tea
Style: Black Tea with Mint – Region: ?????45 / 100 Aroma: 5/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 2/5
Dec. 12th, 2018
Both the dry tea bag and brewing tea smell like straight-up spearmint oil.
Bigelow's base tea is too mild to stand up to the spearmint and I can neither taste nor smell any tea at all. Aside from the color, this is indistinguishable from plain spearmint. The spearmint is good, but I expect to taste tea in my tea.

Earl Grey de la Crème from Trader Joe's
Style: Earl Grey Cream – Region: Blend75 / 100 Aroma: 9/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 4/5
Dec. 10th, 2018
Given the ingredients list, here was a tea that caught both my eye and a few bucks of my credit-card balance, while stocking up at a Dallas Trader Joe's on some things I don't get in nearby Oklahoma markets.
Overall, it's not quite as high-quality as the other Earl Grey Creme tea I've tried (the bagged version from ...
Earl Grey Choice from Zhi Tea
Style: Flavored Black Tea – Region: Blend31 / 100 Aroma: 3/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 1/5

This tea pissed me off. It's a mediocre flavored tea, it's mismarketed, and it's grossly overpriced. It doesn't even taste like Earl Grey, it tastes nothing like the commercial description, not the current one listed on the site nor the one listed on my sample bag, nor is there any explanation of the discrepancy on the...

Preparing this tea brought back a fond childhood memory from about age 8. We were poor, but my mom had bought a box of "orange pekoe" tea as a rare indulgence, and I was excited to try some, thinking it literally was orange-flavored of whatever "pekoe" tea was. Imagine my disappointment, then, when it had no flavor a...

I don't hate this tea but I really don't like it either. It costs 24 cents per cup and I can have much better black tea for cheaper than that so it's not worth it for me. The aroma is very faint and just smells like black tea. This tea tastes smooth but its also kind of plain. The aftertaste kind of tastes like paper t...

This tea is a delicious smell and a delicious taste. This tea is fairly priced for being a different kind of Earl Grey, the extra flavoring brings out more than expected for such a dainty look. The brew is better on its own with no additives but a little sugar brings a lot more flavor.

This is a surprisingly complex tea. Good Earth bills it as a "zesty and fruity marmalade flavor" but I'm not sure I entirely agree. It does taste like marmalade, but it's not what I would call "zesty". Initially, it's predominantly citrus and could be considered zesty, but it quickly mellows to a more balanced, smooth ...

I've said before that ginger tea can be a bit overpowering at times. In this case, it's one of the best blended ginger teas I've found to date. The ginger is there, but not overpowering. The apricot is full-flavored but not overly fruity. All in all, it's a very well-balanced tea that is a pleasure to drink.

When you have lemons, make lemonade? That seems to have happened here. While not overpowering, the distinct aroma of lemon wafted rather aggressively out of the pouch when I tore it open, and that scent stayed in the dry bag strongly until pouring the hot water through it. The in-cup smell was more balanced, but the...

I'm a big fan of berry... anything, so I was enthusiastic about a chance to try a few of the berry teas from Solstice, particularly after experiencing some of their other black teas. Blackberry was a good choice for them, and this tea shines in its aroma. It is a prominent blackberry aroma, and quite pleasant.

Straight vanilla black teas are a bit hard to come by. The majority of the time, the vanilla is blended with some other flavor and, when it isn't, it usually comes across tasting more like a cheap vanilla extract than true vanilla. Thankfully, this isn't the case for Solstice Tea's attempt.
The aroma isn't overwhelm...

After reading a plethora of good reviews, I decided to order a few samples from Solstice Tea Traders. Gold Rush was my first test subject. Others have indicated, and I would agree, that this tea is best served hot. When it cools, it loses something both in flavor and aroma.
The aroma is subtle to begin with. It's a ...

A weakly-flavored, not very aromatic tea experience. If you're looking for a very mild, decaffeinated tea that's easy on the stomach, this is a good choice, but if you were hoping for intense flavors, maybe try something else.

As far as breakfast teas go, I've always been a fan of Earl Grey. That said, I do have my favorites and many companies don't seem to do Earl Grey justice. While this isn't my favorite, it is an excellent option. It's smooth but with a smoky/sweet flavor, not unexpected from a Darjeeling tea. This particular tea gets al...

Admittedly I haven't been up to the Urban Teahouse location in OKC as of this writing, but drinking this at a Norman breakfast restaurant, and getting a sample to take home and chug, makes me want to pay a dangerous visit next time I'm up in that part of "The Big Town". Why dangerous? Because of what that visit woul...

This tea does pull off the black forest cake aroma fairly well, but the flavor is one of a kind. It's not overwhelmingly chocolate, the initial flavor takes more from cherry, but the aftertaste is just like a warm slice of black forest cake. I'm not a big fan of chocolate teas, but this one was well worth trying!

I've never really understood the pumpkin spice craze. These days, almost everything comes in pumpkin spice, so I guess it's no surprise that tea does too. With the limited exposure I've had to pumpkin spice "things", I wasn't sure what to expect. I can definitely smell pumpkin (and spice), so the aroma's there. The fla...

I have a bit of a weakness for Earl Grey for my "morning" coffee, but this is similar enough to make my shelf! It has just a touch of lavender to it, which offsets the Earl Grey-ish flavor wonderfully. While I drank my first cup straight, I suspect this would be wonderful with a touch of honey. I may have to try that n...

I think I keep expecting too much out of orange teas from Stash. I keep hoping that they'll have a distinct orange flavor, but none quite measure up to what I want. This tea has a definitively orange aroma, but the flavor is very subtle. It's there, but still feels more like a basic black tea than an orange tea to me. ...

I like decaf Constant Comment, but hadn't gotten around to trying the original version. It turns out, it's not much different. I can taste a little of the maltiness in the finish, but that's about it. I already know that decaf black teas have little tea flavor, but I was hoping there would be more in this one. A bit of...

About 15 years ago, out by L.A., I saw a dude outside a smoothie shop dressed in yellow hat, yellow shoes and yellow tights, wearing a lemon costume. Had he asked me for a lift, I could have handed him a bag of this tea and satisfied the request.
Otherwise, the tea is not too useful. It reminded me a lot of flavor...

Like the other standard tea bags from H&S, the tea is chopped very fine. Dry, it smells strongly of the bergamot oil, but there's also a maltiness from the tea. It's not strong, but it's a step up from many Earl Grey teas.
Adding the water unexpectedly mutes the aroma. The citrus fades to the background and the tea...

The dry tea is quite broken and smells almost like Froot Loops. Unlike most Earl Greys, though, the aroma of the tea is discernible beneath the bergamot.
The brewed tea smells mostly of malt and bergamot. The tea tastes more bitter and astringent than I expected. Based on Ahmad's other teas, I was expecting the blen...

The dry tea smells strongly of bergamot. There's no hint of other flavors, citrus or otherwise, that other brands sometimes add.
Adding water really doesn't change much. I smell bergamot and a weak hint of dry leaves. The flavor's more balanced than I would have expected, though. The underlying black tea is mellow, ...

Nice taste - better than I was expecting! It's better than Twinings other berry flavored tea's, for sure. I can taste the black tea, but still wish I could taste it more. I like a noticeable added flavor, but still a dominant tea flavor, for flavored tea's. Nothing great, but not bad.
