Chinese sencha tea made with ginseng, ginger, and pineapple. The description makes it seem exotic and potent, but it is fairly mild and not really very exciting.

Matcha iri Genmaicha from Harney and Sons

Style: Genmaicha – Region: Japan

73 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 3/5
May. 14th, 2018

Bancha and matcha make a good combo, as I expected. Maybe I just don't like genmaicha in general, but I don't care for what the rice adds to this; it almost has a burnt popcorn smell, but less harsh than that. Aside from that, it's pretty good, but I think I'll just get bancha or sencha after I finish this.

May. 13th, 2018

Straight up, this is a blatant, unapologetic and remarkably close approximation of Celestial Seasonings' Candy Cane Lane (one of my very favorite teas), right down to the decaf green tea, the rest of the ingredients list, and the square stringless flat bags housed in a gummed wax-paper pouch, within a similarly sized b...

May. 5th, 2018

How appropriate it is that I opened this box, bought in Kailua and brought to Oklahoma, on the night after a the largest Big Island quake since the 1970s, while Kilauea's East Rift fissure belches steam, acrid fumes and fountains of lava through Leilani Estates. Would Mango Maui prove as smooth and relaxing as a seabr...

Apr. 26th, 2018

Christmas in a cup. I look forward to this tea every holiday season! Even though there are no rules to drinking it all year long. I love the creamy vanilla taste added to a simple black tea. After brewing, I will add a splash of vanilla creamer or milk to the top. Perfect holiday tea.

China Jasmine Green Tea from Upton Tea Imports

Style: Jasmine Tea – Region: China

60 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 2/5 Value: 4/5
Apr. 21st, 2018

Here is a mediocre jasmine tea from Upton, which does offer some better ones. The base tea is not very interesting, and the flower aspect is not the best. It is still drinkable tho, and it does smell nice. It is called "China Jasmine" on the website but the label reads "Jasmine Green Tea." Offered at a low price.

Apr. 20th, 2018

This has a little more bergamot than your average earl grey, but it is not overwhelming - it is still within the normal range for an EG. I find this to be a very good tea, nice with lemon (which is my favorite way to take EG), and possessing a pleasant aroma. It is not my favorite EG from Upton, but it is one of the ...

It is sencha with toasted brown rice - I wonder who thought that up? This provides a little heft and cracker-like flavor to this green tea. I'm rating it in 2018, but I liked it a little more in some prior years.

A favorite of mine. Lots of rose flavor and aroma mixed with a Chinese black tea makes for a lovely cup! It doesn't taste artificial at all - I'm guessing the rose effect is coming from real roses. And the price ($5 for 100 grams in 2018) is fantastic, given the quality.

The picture is a little deceptive - it appears to be packed with dried blueberries, but so far I haven't seen any. It is a bland green tea with blueberry flavoring, which makes it taste like chewing gum. This would probably be OK in the summer, maybe on ice.

Just spent a week drinking this tea. We were on a week long backpacking trip and since She Who Must Be Obeyed likes Earl Grey I packed this. Drank it every morning. It was hot, caffeinated and quite enjoyable, actually. Smoother and much more bergamot flavor than the bag of Bigelow's Earl Grey that had somehow hitched ...

Earl Grey from Farmer Brothers

Style: Earl Grey Tea – Region: Blend

Apr. 8th, 2018

Farmer Brothers apparently uses the same relatively rich base tea as for their plain black offering, which similarly brews up dark and tastes stronger than most brand-name bagged teas. As such, you can pluck a bag or three off your hotel's or conference's tea table with confidence you'll get a passable, perhaps even r...

This is one of their cheaper teas, but for me it hits the spot. There is a good amount of spearmint and it blends well with the tea that is used. Make sure to add sugar and not oversteep, and you will have a delicious cup. It is a fine choice when a low caffeine tea is called for.

Mar. 28th, 2018

Teas with ridiculously long names seem attracted to me. Whether that's an attraction of the pleasant and fortuitous variety, or more akin to flies swirling around steaming dung heaps, is another story. This blend is one of the few loose-leaf offerings I've seen at TJ's, and contains several dried ingredients that var...

Very powerful jasmine aroma (which is always just on the edge of agreeable for me, but that's just personal taste). Luckily the tea itself doesn't taste as sharp. Strong jasmine taste, but not too strong, a little sweet. It kind of dries the mouth, though.
The used leaves don't look too pretty; quite broken with lots ...

At first the complexity of the flavors seem to arouse a wholly idiosyncratic chemosensory system. However, the familiarity of the orchard fruits and the scent of rose take the drinker on a nostalgic journey of unadulterated pleasure, that serves to coalesce this cup of tea into a universal ideology. In a future wholly ...

This tea was awful. I truly couldn't get past the artificial peach flavor. I tried mixing it with a chai tea to make it drinkable (peaches and cinnamon seem like they should go together) but somehow it made it worse. It was like drinking potpourri. Another reviewer mentioned making an iced tea with celestial seasonings...

Mistakenly and distracted by engaging conversation, I grabbed a couple of bags at a conference, thinking this was straight green Bigelow tea as typically served, without looking carefully at the little red strip declaring, "with pomegranate". I still didn't notice upon ripping open the bag, dropping into the cup and d...
