Chamomile from Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf

Style: Pure Chamomile Tea – Region: ?????

Chamomile to me is much like peppermint.

[Wait, wait, wait!!! Hear me out before you threaten to have my account deleted, my Internet access suspended, and some guys in green gowns wrap me in a straitjacket and haul me away to the rubber room.]

No, I did not mean in terms of its taste. Instead, as with pepperm...

Organic African Nectar from Mighty Leaf Tea

This is quite close to Murchie's "Cozy Caramel Rooibos" for the tastiest African redbush tea I've had so far. I got this earlier today from a kiosk in the Portland airport, where the clerk dropped two decent-sized sachets of this in a large cup for me. Never even heard of it before...

The floral and vanilla levels...

Cozy Caramel Rooibos from Murchie's Tea & Coffee Ltd

Style: Flavored Rooibos – Region: Blend

87 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 4/5
Nov. 4th, 2016

As noted in my review of Trader Joe's rooibos, its earthy, haystraw-like flavor was something of a turn-off at first, but grew on me with time. This strongly flavored rooibos from Murchie's, which uses apple pieces and calendula petals as well as caramel flavoring, bypasses the "grow on you" stage and thrusts itself s...

Mint Tea from Badia

Style: Mint Tea – Region: ?????

80 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 5/5

Up front, I'm not a big fan of spearmint, as it too often is used to dominate and dilute the peppermint in such blends. The former makes great gum, but rather lame teas that too often remind of cough medicine. Had I paid closer attention when buying a small pack of this tea in a Miami Publix, I would have left it on ...

Honey Vanilla Chamomile from Celestial Seasonings

Style: Chamomile Blend – Region: ?????

70 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 4/5

Ever wonder what it would be like to drink one of those herbal scented candles from Pier One or Cracker Barrel? That's what the aroma and flavor of this tea reminded me of, right from the start. If you can work past that image, this actually isn't a bad tea: very smooth, naturally sweet and easy on the palate.

Peppermint Herbal Tea from Stash Tea

Style: Peppermint Tea – Region: United States of America

63 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 4/5
Apr. 9th, 2016

Peppermint teas, if done right, should look, smell and taste identical regardless of the brand name. This is because the ingredient is singular and straightforward: chopped, dried peppermint leaves: M. balsamea Willd. That's it.

Differences in strength, freshness and flavor, therefore, are related not to the c...

"How would you like a nice Hawaiian punch?"
or
"How did you like the taste of Shasta Black Cherry Soda as a kid?"

This is the closest thing I've tasted to that in an herbal tea. If you have children and want to introduce them to caffeine-free herbal teas harmlessly, or get them off high-calorie sugared fruit drin...

Sleepytime Herbal Tea from Celestial Seasonings

Similarly to Brytta (below) I much prefer peppermint to spearmint; yet the balance with lemongrass and chamomile seems to work here. This isn't the Ambien of tea and won't knock you out, but instead, is a smooth, easy, comfortable tea to slow-pour down one's gullet a couple hours before bedtime. A friend with similar...

Fenchel from Teekanne

Style: Herbal Tea – Region: ?????

67 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 3/5
Feb. 15th, 2016

Fennel is an herb that tastes loosely similar to star anise, but not as strong; it reminds me of a blend of star anise and linden flowers. Therefore, folks who like the licorice flavor but not as intense (and with a slight floral veneer) will enjoy this product. While I'm not madly over heels in love with the flavor,...

Organic Fairtrade Rooibos & Honeybush Tea from Trader Joe's

Feb. 11th, 2016

I've tried only a couple of Rooibos teas--one whilst traveling through Austria last year (can't recall the brand but it was a little muddy-tasting), and this one that appears fairly new.

Rooibos is an earthy, woody, somewhat grassy flavor that either grows on you or not. It has on me after initially not being ver...

Star Anise Tea (Chinese) from Badia

Feb. 11th, 2016

Having lived in Miami for a few years, I'm quite familiar with and mostly a big fan of this brand of spices. They do justice to their spice line with this tea. I've only tried a few anise teas, but theirs is the richest, by far. Every time I go, I bring some back; fortunately it's available commonly in the local cha...

Tension Tamer from Celestial Seasonings

Style: Herbal Tea – Region: ?????

93 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 5/5
Feb. 11th, 2016

Tension Tamer is top notch, my favorite CS tea alongside Candy Cane Lane (but for different reasons). The flavor is pleasantly strong and spicy, yet still mellow and relaxing, very befitting its advertised role as a comfort food of the tea world. This is best consumed in front of a fireplace or under a blanket on a c...

Wild Sweet Orange from Tazo Tea

Style: Herbal Tea – Region: ?????

73 / 100 Aroma: 10/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 3/5
Feb. 11th, 2016

I agree with the other reviewers here who state that the flavor doesn't pack the potency the aroma implies. I could sniff the packaging of this tea all day long; the scent is almost intoxicating. It smells like one of the old descriptions Tazo used to use on the side of the boxes, to the effect of, "biting into a fres...
