Red Jasmine Tea from TWG Tea
Style: Rooibos – Region: South Africa40 / 100 Aroma: 4/10 Flavor: 2/5 Value: 3/5

This tea was a gift. It is not tea, but rooibos flavored with jasmine. Individual bags are sealed. The aroma is woodsy, cedar like. The flavor is difficult for me to describe, almost medicinal. The jasmine is a noticeable after taste. While I am not a fan of this particular tisane, I would be curious to try the teas the...

I bought a one-pound mylar bag of Frontier rooibos and transferred it to a couple of airtight jars. While recognizably rooibos, the contents of this bag have an extra note of oregano.
I brewed 5g in 16 ounces of boiling water. The oregano aroma is pronounced. It's good, but less nutty and sweet than I'm used to. I d...

Great Rooibos flavor! Good for night time! It's decaf! Herbal tea's are decaf, or so I've come to find! It's herbal!

Ever pull apart a fresh new broom (the natural kind), crumble the straw and steep it up? I haven't (yet), but that's what straight rooibos reminds me of—broom tea, except with a red color and woody veneer.
Perhaps I share enough taste genes with ruminants (moooooooooo!) that the grassiness doesn't bother me muc...

This tea is okay, but not my favorite. The flavor is not impressive. Compared with other rooibos teas, this simply doesn't cut it. It doesn't go down as smoothly as other rooibos teas. I prepared mine with 6oz of water and steeped for 6 minutes. Compared to the Equal Exchange brand, I cannot recommend it. It's not bad,...

This was the best rooibos I've ever tried in a teabag and among the best rooibos I've ever tried.
I was excited when this new company, Rooi life, approached me with a sample offer. The company sells only a single product: pure rooibos, in tea bags, in a fairly big package too.
Quite aromatic, earthy and with fru...

I am a huge fan of Rooibos, but I was not blown away by this selection. It does have an excellent color to it. The brewed cup is a deep and full red. I also thoroughly enjoyed the aroma. It was not too strong, but rather subtle and smooth. It smelled faintly of toasted nuts, which at first I thought kind of odd, but la...

The Tea Lab's rooibos is quite good. The dried leaves are wonderfully uniform in shape and color, and are a deep red. The aroma is not as strong as some, but still very sweet and earthy. The taste is exquisitely smooth without a bit of bitterness and focuses not as much on the vanilla undertones often found in rooibos ...

Plain rooibos is definitely my favorite herbal tea. Adagio's rooibos has an earthy and sweet aroma that leads to that naturally sweet taste that is characteristic of rooibos. The taste is filled with strong undertones of vanilla and honey. It is smooth, but not as smooth as some other rooibos tea and even has a hint of...

This is a very decent cup of rooibos. The ground rooibos seems to really add a deep color and flavor to each cup, which is very nice.

Interesting tea--herbaceous in a way that reminds me of some tulsi teas, though this has no tulsi in it. I haven't had green rooibos before--this one being pretty good means I should probably try other varieties of it.
Grassy, but not in the same way as green teas, is how I'd describe this tea's aroma, flavor, and m...

The aroma of the little red leaves is sweet and woody, exactly the way I expect Rooibos to smell! I do not drink it unblended nearly enough, which is tragic because I love the stuff. There are also notes of caramel, a touch of honey, the tiniest hint of pepper and much to my surprise and ending hint of pie crust, which...

I haven't tried many plain rooibos teas, but I very much enjoy this one. The flavor is balanced and pleasant--nice for when you want a soothing, straightforward herbal tea. It infuses quickly to a deep red-brown. As I drink it, I can also easily appreciate why I've often enjoyed this as a base for other flavorings. The...

The aroma of this tea is very typical of a Rooibos, it is woody, sweet, a bit sharp, and a rich caramel sweetness. Rooibos has a very acquired aroma I feel, there are times I crave its woody sweetness, other times it gives me a headache.
Not surprisingly, it tastes yummy! The taste is woody and rich with strong note...

It has a coppery red liquor, light aroma, and fairly light taste. The aroma is not unlike the company’s description, like hay or wild dry grasses. The aroma of the liquor is much weaker than the actual leaves, wet or dry, however. The taste is straight and crisp with little to no aftertaste. The flavor is much like h...

Sampled at the Philly Coffee and Tea Festival.
Intensely aromatic: although most rooibos strikes me as more or less similar, this one actually stood out. The aroma is both powerful and complex, earthy, and with tones of vanilla. Medium-body, with a creamy texture.
Ajiri Tea seems to do a consistently excellent ...

The aroma of the little leaves is very clean and reminiscent of standing in a hay field. I also notice hints of strawberry which was nice. Once brewed the aroma becomes much sweeter and takes on floral notes.
The taste is good! Not as sweet as the oxidized version but still sweet, no floral tastes but the fruit make...

I thought this was an unusually high-quality rooibos for a simple, reasonably priced tea bag.
Rich earthy aroma, with some complexity; I detect the faint hint of vanilla and fruitiness that is the hallmark of good rooibos. This is on par with much of the loose-leaf rooibos that I've tried. Full-bodied, strong, and...

Upon sampling the green rooibos from Mountain Rose Herbs, this became a new favorite for me, and my new preferred source of green rooibos.
Although the dry leaf is light green in color, I found that the flavor of this was more similar to red rooibos than other green rooibos samples. Brews a light orange color.

A strong, Assam-like rooibos, if that's possible. Dry leaf is pleasingly aromatic.
Aroma is rather strong, earthy, and woody, and considerably more peppery and spicy than I am used to for rooibos, less fruity. Rather heavy and thick. Not exactly bitter, but seems to have more bite than a typical rooibos. This is...

I thought I'd try something new when I saw this box of tea at my local health food store and remember seeing Rooibos on the list of teas on this site, so I bought a box.
I wasn't sure of how it smelled until I got home as the box was sealed as were the bags, but it has a nice sweet "grassy" scent.

This rooibos had an unusual complexity for a tea bag. However, it also had considerable astringency.. Aroma slightly fruity, earthy, and with straw-like tones.
Rich. Not the smoothest rooibos though. I'd take this over most brands of rooibos sold in tea bags, although at home I prefer loose-leaf rooibos.

A run-of-the-mill teabag rooibos. This is perhaps slightly above-average quality for a tea bag. Flavor is somewhat flat, aroma is not terribly complex. In my opinion, if you want superior-quality rooibos in a tea bag that is also fair-trade certified, go with Equal Exchange's pyramid bags.
I was disappointed that...
