Taiwan Ruby 18 Black (Sun Moon Lake Black) from Floating Leaves
Style: Black Tea – Region: Nantou, Taiwan55 / 100 Aroma: 5/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 3/5
Sep. 20th, 2019
Leaves are very long and wiry. Had to pick up leaves with fingers to get into tea sack. Prepared 7.6 g in 18 oz boiled water; brewed 4 min; added 3 oz ice. Final = 2.8 g per 8 oz. Strong tea flavor; slight wulong taste. I wonder if this tea is as fully oxidized as most black teas.
The Chinese characters on the bag ...

Style: Lapsang Souchong – Region: Nantou, Taiwan41 / 100 Aroma: 2/10 Flavor: 2/5 Value: 1/5

This tea sorely disappointed me and left me feeling sad and empty. I thought from the description that I was going to like it, but the description was somewhere between severely misleading and blatantly wrong. Thank you to Organic Herbie for the free sample. But PLEASE, update the description for this tea because it is...

Style: Oolong Tea – Region: Nantou, Taiwan95 / 100 Aroma: 10/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 4/5

This was one of the free samples I picked with my Teavivre order. I put most of the sample in my gaiwan, leaving just enough for a later western style brew. The dry leaves smell quite roasted, but also floral and somewhat woody. The first infusion has an aroma much like the dry leaves, but a bit more floral. The taste ...

This is a blend of Gui Fei and Jade oolongs, since the website doesn't make that clear. It has a very floral aroma, as expected. The first cup is clean with a honey-like sweetness, but it's more aromatic than flavorful. The second cup is more interesting: mild stone fruit notes appear, and the mouthfeel is thicker comp...

So, the aroma, well...it smells really good! I am getting notes of toasted peanuts, sesame seeds, pie crust...and is that marzipan? After sniffing a bit more, yep, that is definitely marzipan!
OMG, HOW!!! This tea taste exactly like peach cobbler with an oat crust and caramelized sugar, that is just uncanny! I kinda...

Outstanding. Probably the best Four Seasons oolong I've ever tried. Rishi consistently impresses me with their oolongs! Thank you to Kelsey for letting me brew this from your sample.
The dry leaf is a beautiful green color, very tightly rolled, and has a strong aroma suggesting shortbread cookies and a hint of sp...
Dong Ding Oolong traditional medium roast from Life in Teacup
Style: Jade Oolong – Region: Nantou, Taiwan93 / 100 Aroma: 9/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 5/5
Nov. 16th, 2014
Well perhaps on the website this may be considered a mid-grade tea, but I was really impressed by it. I now know what a quality oolong is supposed to taste and smell like. It's rich both in aroma and flavor, and lasts very well through multiple infusions. Infact, I experimented on the third and fourth infusions: It was...

Mmm, very tasty. This tea beats other oolongs I've had that were three times the price. It's naturally really sweet, with a mellow nutty undertone. Creamy mouth-feel. The aroma is beautiful, thick and sweet. I could drink this tea all day.
Brewed a large teaspoon in 8oz water at 200F for 3 min.
Charcoal Roasted Dong Ding Oolong from Eco-Cha
Style: Oolong Tea – Region: Nantou, Taiwan97 / 100 Aroma: 10/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 4/5
Sep. 26th, 2014
The aroma of the dry leaves is delightfully rich, a blend of tobacco, bamboo coal, wood, earthiness, and a delightfully sweet sesame butter and honey finish. You can tell this tea was created by those who are very proficient in their art because it has the charcoal notes you expect, but they are mellow and it is not a ...

The aroma is a very fresh smelling blend of buttery, a tiny bit of sesame seed nuttiness, mountain vegetation, sweet orchids, and a bit of fresh cream. It smells rich and clean, I do not say that often but the aroma reminds me of clean mountain air, which I should mention is a smell that I greatly miss.
Time for the...
Honey Black Tea from Green Terrace Teas

Aug. 20th, 2014
The aroma of these long, curly, leaves is indeed quite sweet and very rich! There are notes of honey, beet root, roasted peanuts, tobacco, and a touch of roses. I am not sure I have ever sniffed a dry leaf that was so complex and had all the aromas work together in harmony.
First steeping, well, that is certainly de...
Medium Roast Dong Ding Oolong from Green Terrace Teas
Style: Oolong Tea – Region: Nantou, Taiwan87 / 100 Aroma: 9/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 4/5
Aug. 20th, 2014
The aroma of this particular roasted oolong is toasted and nutty, with notes of roasted nuts, sesame seeds, and fresh bread. There is also a tiny bit of fresh vegetation at the end. I find this amusing, like a little bit of the pre-roasted aroma hanging on.
The taste is exactly what one expects from a medium roasted...
Jin Xuan Oolong Tea from Eco-Cha

Wow, this is quite a different tea from any others I've tried. Its flavor is at once vegetal, silky, savory, and a little salty. It's almost broth-like in its flavor and texture, but far more smooth. It tastes like a tea that would be good in the winter when you're craving something substantial and comforting, but not ...

I definitely noticed a nutty/roasted flavor and aroma in this tea. That isn't my favorite flavor to find in tea, but it tastes of good quality and would likely be very enjoyable to someone who *does* have that preference.
I brewed it at 195 °F and steeped it for 3 minutes. This gave it plenty of flavor without turn...

Dry Leaf Aroma: Surprisingly non-floral. I didn’t smell much of anything.
Brewing Aroma: Buttery and floral.

Dry Leaf Aroma: milky and buttery, with a hint of floral
Brewing Aroma: more floral

The aroma of the dried leaves is really neat, it is a blend of roasted and floral. You get notes of sweet roasted popcorn and barley, this fades to orchid and honeysuckle, which in turn fades to a subtle chestnut. The dried leaves smell delicious, I really like the balance between floral and roasted.

Dry Leaf Aroma: Floral and Fruity. Sweet. Smelled a little like baking cookies.

Pumpkin Guts! The dry leaves smell like pumpkin carving time. This is great for me, since I happen to love that time of year, as well as pumpkins. While steeping, the tea smells green and sweet. It smells only very faintly roasted.
The flavor is mild and a little more roastiness is apparent in the flavor than th...

The aroma of the curly long leaves is nothing short of complex, blending rich cocoa, roasted peanuts, cloves, a bit of barley, and a woody quality. The aroma is more savory than sweet, in fact it is all savory instead of sweet, with a strong and heavy presence. This is a tea that will be noticed!

I thought this tea was amazing. It went further than any tea I've had before at 5 cups with the same leaves, with a similar strength. I honestly think I could have brewed more, but my meeting was finished and I had to dump the remainder. I could gush about the vegetal taste of this tea, it was all I could want and mo...

I especially enjoyed the roasty flavor of this tea. There definitely was a slight sweetness, which from my own preferences, I wasn't a huge fan of. I always find it impressive when I get a few cups of tea with similar strength off the same leaves, and this tea delivered. I've only had two oolongs from Eco-Cha so far...

The aroma of the loose leaves is a mix of roasted nuts, honey, and sesame seeds. It reminds of sesame honey candy and is quite delicious smelling. Brewing the leaves brings out vegetal qualities and sharp notes of fruit and osmanthus flowers. The liquid without the leaves have a roasted nuts and lettuce aroma.
