Organic Lemon Echinacea Throat Coat® from Traditional Medicinals
Style: Wellness Tea / Medicinal Tea – Region: Blend72 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 3/5
Sep. 18th, 2021
As medicinal herbals go, this one was OK—not as OK as Oklahoma pronounced itself on 1970s license plates, but OK nonetheless. The dry bag gave off a pronounced licorice aroma, which doesn't bother me, since I'm cool with licorice. But some folks hate licorice, and I predict they won't take a shine to the smell or t...

Style: Herbal Tea – Region: ?????63 / 100 Aroma: 4/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 4/5
Apr. 7th, 2020
As teas from outfits like Traditional Medicinals go, this one is remarkably simple. It has just these two basic ingredients, rose hips and hibiscus, that form the core of countless fruit- and berry-flavored herbal blends offered by many companies.
As a combination, it seems very well-balanced. There's not much dr...
Organic Gas Relief® from Traditional Medicinals
Style: Wellness Tea / Medicinal Tea – Region: ?????63 / 100 Aroma: 5/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 3/5
Sep. 5th, 2019
Friends and family will testify to my potent propensity for production of organic gas, from which they desperately desire relief. This tea, "Organic Gas Relief", therefore came not only recommended, but insistently so. It's touching that so many people care so much.
According to the box, precisely 300 mg each of f...
Organic Chamomile with Lavender from Traditional Medicinals
Style: Chamomile Blend – Region: Blend57 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 1/5
Jul. 27th, 2019
Directions say, "2 tea bags in a cup". While I appreciate the manufacturer's forthrightness in admitting one bag isn't enough to fill out the flavor, I also must ask, why, especially as expensive as a standard box is to start? How about simply dosing one bag with the full recommended pile of plant material instead? ...

My family has been drinking Throat Coat for at least 15+ years. It's the first thing we reach for when we have colds. It is very soothing on the throat, helps open breathing passages, and temporarily reduces coughing. Highly recommend a 5 min covered steep time, a squeeze of lemon, and honey to taste. On it's own it t...

Style: Spearmint Tea – Region: ?????76 / 100 Aroma: 9/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 2/5
Jan. 31st, 2019
One of the very few pure spearmint herbal teas available in tea bags.
The tea smells strongly and recognizably of spearmint even before adding water. After steeping, the tea has a pronounced spearmint flavor with just enough herbal notes to avoid tasting like candy.
A second steeping still carries a lot of flavor...
Organic Ginger from Traditional Medicinals
Style: Wellness Tea / Medicinal Tea – Region: ?????80 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 5/5
Nov. 19th, 2018
I would give this tea a good rating. I started drinking it yesterday for my lost voice, sore throat and cold, and three cups and 12 hours later I could talk again. The ginger flavor and aroma must be reasonably strong-- I can still detect it even while ill. Like most real ginger teas, this one burns a little going do...

Here's another sample accepted from my sister-in-law's clay jar full of different, mainly unusual organic teas. What a hodgepodge of strange ingredients is listed, including burdock, dandelion, something called "cleavers herb", and the one that gave me the most pause, stinging nettle.
Stuff that makes skin rashes...
Organic Tulsi with Ginger from Traditional Medicinals
Style: Wellness Tea / Medicinal Tea – Region: ?????65 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 3/5
Jun. 28th, 2017
Flip this tea's title around and call it "Ginger with Tulsi", and we have an accurate portrayal. I've consumed and reviewed one other Tulsi tea (also containing ginger), and still can't determine what Tulsi is supposed to taste like. Maybe it slathers a mellow veneer over the ginger, because this concoction is fairly...

My sister-in-law offered me a bag of this, and immediately I had to ask: "Organic? Who on Earth is purposefully growing inorganic dandelions?" Most folks don't have to walk far to find organic dandelions (at least what would qualify by no-pesticide, no-herbicide, no-artificial-fertilizer standards). Some sprout from...

A co-worker who is into the natural, herbal-wellness scene offered me a bag of this tea to try, which of course is irresistible when it's something I haven't reviewed in this medium before. Looking up licorice root online, it's advertised as beneficial to gastrointenstinal difficulties. My response: "I ain't got di...

I will typically try to refrain from talking about the supposed health benefits of certain teas, as I'm supposed to review teas based off of their flavor, aroma, and value. However, the claim that it boosts the immune system is what made me run out to the supermarket 15 minutes before Sunday Dinner and purchase this te...

When I get cold, I always get severe sore throat (normally lose my voice and bad coughing afterward). Same pattern everytime. I tried many cough drops, spray, etc. to erase the pain but those work for really short period of time only. This time, I tried this tea immediately when I felt my throat getting sore. Oh my goo...

I found an old container of this tea at a house I visited. Considering that it was probably quite old, it was surprisingly good.
The lemon flavor is present, smooth, and somewhat muted. There is a grassy undertone that I assume is the echinacea. And there is just a hint of licorice, which adds sweetness without bei...

Since the start of my pregnancy, my mate and I decided we wanted to breastfeed. Despite all the classes we attended and books I've read, we soon learned how challenging of a task it is after our daughter was born.
My friend recommended this tea and kindly dropped off a few boxes during our overnight stay at t...

Licorice is the dominant flavor in this tea, but it's not particularly strong. I like the flavors of both lemon and echinacea, but I can't taste the lemon at all and I can hardly detect any echinacea. If you thought the regular Throat Coat was too strong a tea, perhaps you'll enjoy this one; if you prefer your tea stro...

Okay, maybe I just have strange taste in tea.
I think this tastes awesome, and--as per my standard--I'm happy to drink it 'just because'. I tend to drink it a lot when I'm nervous about getting sick--I've developed an almost Pavlovian sort of response at this point--but I don't tend to drink anything bad-tasting for...

I don't believe in the healing powers of echinacea tea and I don't plan to until I see some peer-reviewed studies confirming it, but this tea nonetheless tastes great and is wonderful for clearing the head.

I'm not one to really believe in the efficacy of herbal remedies, but this tea is something that my parents have always offered to me when I'm sick and at this point, whether or not it actually works it's become a comfort.
That said, I wouldn't drink it if it didn't taste good, and sometimes I brew it for nothing bu...

I was curious to try this one; I tend to like to drink relaxing herbal teas, and I like the various active ingredients, which include passionflower, chamomile, lavender, catnip, and rosemary, as well as some of the inactive (flavoring) ingredients.
I thought this was pleasant but I didn't notice any relaxing effects...

I tried this out of curiosity and am evaluating it more for taste than for any medicinal properties.
The tea bag is wonderfully aromatic, always a good sign, and the aroma is complex, suggesting mint and licorice but with a lot of other things going on.
Upon brewing, the cup has so much going on in the aroma that...

Boy this stuff will surely clear you out! So mentholly-herbaceous-spicy. It's cold, It's hot. It's way too strong to drink recreationally - but for a cold and when you are desparate - give it a shot. I much prefer the "Throat Coat" tea - easier to take.

This tea was disappointing. It didn't have the brightness or pungency that I was expecting, and that I have had in other simple, pure ginger "teas" (the only ingredient in this one was ginger -- no actual tea). Since the "gingery" quality was dull, the lack of any other flavor to compliment it was very notable. There i...

Gypsy Cold Care is another choice from Traditional Medicinals (I prefer Throat Coat) to take when you are feeling sick. This is not a "recreational" tea - but if you have nasal congestion or a cough - this is helpful. Full of menthol - so beware of that. Add some honey if you wish.
