Rose Herb Green Tea from Golden Tips

Style: Flavored Green Tea – Region: India

70 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 3/5
Apr. 7th, 2015

I can pick up notes of roses, grass, licorice, bay, tulsi, mysterious sharp spices, pepper, anise, fennel, so many layers and herbs! It is a plethora of plant and spice notes that manage to not be a cacophony or smell like a nasty medicinal brew, which is always a good sign.

The taste of this tea can be summed up i...

Style: Flavored Black Tea – Region: Fujian, China

The aroma of the leaves is nothing short of decadent, it blends rich cocoa, roasted peanut, and a tiny dried cherry note with intense heady tangerine blossoms. Me being me, I have spent a lot of time sniffing citrus flowers, tangerine flowers are one of my favorite because they are so heady, blending citrus notes with ...

So, giving the leaves a sniff and whoa, hello Orange Julius! In case you live in part of the world where those don't exist (I am so sorry) it is a mix of ice cream and orange juice for a super creamy cup of yum...you can also say it smells like orange sherbet. It very much so mixes creamy notes and orange, under these ...

Earl of Bengal Tea from Teatulia

67 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 3/5
Feb. 2nd, 2015

Next up on the tasting adventure is Earl of Bengal, a blend of Bergamot and Black Tea, I made this when resident Earl aficionado was home, so he got to help me taste, and by help I mean he split the cup with me. The aroma of the teabag is pretty much all citrus all the time, the sharp slightly lemony aroma of the Berga...

Minecraft Slime from Adagio Teas

Style: Flavored Green Tea – Region: Blend

80 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 4/5
Jan. 3rd, 2015

The aroma is a quirky blend of lime jello, growing green things, and wet stone, name aside, this smells exactly like I imagine a Slime bouncing around in a cave would smell...wet and citrus with hints of green! The smell makes me giggle, it makes my nose tingle like sniffing a fizzy soda, it is a little weird but fun.

Dec. 20th, 2014

So from the aroma, all I am getting is mint and marshmallow, it is very sweet and the mint clears my sinuses, wintry indeed! I can certainly see snow being represented by the cleanness of mint and the gentle sweetness of marshmallow, but I wonder where the aroma of the Gyokuro is?

This tea is hard to describe, and i...

White Chai from The Persimmon Tree

Style: Chai / Spiced Tea – Region: Blend

67 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 3/5
Dec. 2nd, 2014

The aroma starts out with a strong note of dried apples giving it a blend of sweet and just a hint of tart, this moved onto pepper, cloves, a but of cinnamon, and just a touch of cardamon and coconut at the finish. It certainly smells like a chai, but it has a tropical edge from the coconut and a much milder spice prof...

83 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 4/5
Nov. 21st, 2014

So, how does this tea smell? Good, like really good, like a vanilla bean and almond infused biscotti dipped in chocolate with a touch of coconut sitting next to a steaming cup of rich, malty, black tea. Sniffing this tea makes me feel under-dressed and lacking elegance, clearly I should be wearing something pretty whil...

The aroma is really sweet, it smells just like one of those vending machine danishes (I don't think I have ever had any other kind of danish actually) there is intense blueberry notes with a hint of cream cheese and a touch of yeastiness like pastry. The aroma from my little pile of CTC leaves and spices is sweet, spicy, and malty! There is a strong ginger note, a moderately strong note of cardamon, and lastly a mellow note of malt and a finish of cinnamon.

This is a very mellow Chai, taken traditionally with milk (ok I use Half & Half since I love creaminess) ...

Style: Flavored Green Tea – Region: India

57 / 100 Aroma: 5/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 3/5
Oct. 27th, 2014

The aroma of this tea is pretty potently citrus, lots and lots of lemon! Luckily it is not a fake lemon aroma, it smells much like I just stuck my nose inside a crate full of fresh lemons along with the aroma of crushed lemon leaves. There is just a tiny hint of herbal notes and a delicate note of vegetation.

The aroma of the dry leaves (and fruity bits) is quite delicious, it has that tart sweet smell of fresh raspberries and pomegranates with a slight hint of rose hips and a gentle finishing note of slightly grassy green. It has a very fresh scent, reminding me of late spring.

The aroma is creamy sweet and floral, with notes of vanilla and cocoa, with roses, lavender, and a hint of oranges and malt. It is super rich and sweet, bordering on decadent.

The dry leaves smell like an autumn evening sitting next to a crackling fire while eating s'mores! There are notes of smoke, cinnamon, marshmallow sweetness, and a finish of rich cocoa. The leaves smell quite rich and not overwhelmingly sweet, just the way I like my desserts!

The aroma of these pearls pretty intense, very heady jasmine with notes of fresh vegetation. It reminds me of standing next to a blooming jasmine late on a summer evening, the aroma of the flowers fill the air and the smell of growing things surround me.

The aroma of the leaves is quite fruity, blending cherries and papayas with floral notes of jasmine and roses. It does not really evoke spring to Japan to me, it evokes summer in a more tropical climate to me.

The taste is very mild and subtle, it starts out floral and sweet with faint notes of roses and jasmine w...

Very sweet and very spicy are the first things I notice when appreciating this tea. The leaves and spices are a beautiful combination of colors...pardon me while I ogle this tea for a moment. Earl Grey from JusTea

Woo! That Earl packs a punch! Very strong bergamot and what seems like a mild note of lemons hiding under the bergamot. Not an unpleasant potency, it would be perfect as a wake up aroma. I often amuse myself by comparing a good Earl Grey to Victorian smelling salts, it would make a better fainting remedy I think! The a...

The aroma reminds me of truffles (the chocolate, not the mushroom...I know, weird for me to not be talking about mushrooms) rich chocolate and strawberry truffles with a sprinkling of espresso, it pulls to mind a very specific truffle a friend of mine made, they were quite decadent. The aroma is intensely sweet, perfec...

The aroma smells pretty varied, there are notes of roses, delicate peaches and apples, a touch of citrus, a bit of woody rooibis, a tiny bit of tart hibiscus, and lastly a sweet malty and caramel finish.
