Strong flavor and aroma. Delightful Yunnan. I bought these for dining out. When I go out for breakfast, I take some of these along. I enjoy this tea and find it much more flavorful than the national brand the restaurant offers.

I haven't yet tried too many pu-ehrs, but I'm starting to think they are not for me. This one has both a rich aroma and flavor of loam and crab cakes. If you are into that sort of thing, this tea is probably amazing, but not how I prefer my tea to taste. It's like I made a nice earthy tea, but used the same water I had...

This tea has a nice dusty flavor. It's a little weak for my taste, but if I brew it for long enough it's good. I added cream and sugar.

Dry, this tea has a very subtle aroma. The liquor is amber colored. Overall, a bit milder than I expected from previous black snail.

This has become one of my favorite shous. The liquor is a deep reddish brown with a warm and sweet aroma. There are notes of compost, leaves, and autumnal air. The taste is primarily dirt, compost, and autumnal leaves. There is also just the slightest hint of scotch in the back of your mouth. A slight astringency remin...

Appearance: The dry leaf is intact, curled, and often intertwined with other leaves, making it hard to easily separate. The leaf is pure bud covered in a light golden-orange down that comes off on the fingers when handled without care. Some of the underlying dark-brown leaf is visible closer to the non-terminal end of ...

I liked this, but it was not my favorite shou. The aroma is sweet, earthy, and wet. There is some fruitiness and maybe some citrus present as well. The taste is smooth, earthy, and reminiscent of citrus and wet autumn leaves. Very smooth taste.

This was a wonderful black tea. Overall it was very mellow, mild, and smooth.
I steeped this near boiling, around 200 degrees, in my gaiwan with 5g of tea. The first infusion brought forth a light orange liquor with a light black tea taste and hints of chocolate. It is almost sweet with no astringency. The aroma is...
Yunnan Golden Tips from Harney and Sons
Style: Yunnan Gold – Region: Yunnan, China77 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 3/5
Apr. 8th, 2016
This tea is really strange. I enjoy it most when I don't think of it as a black tea, and I still don't know exactly how I feel about it. I disagree with Harney's assertion that this is "vigorously assertive": to me it lacks the strength and punch of a black tea, and in many respects is more like an oolong or even a m...

For my first raw pu-erh, I really enjoyed this. There is a slight astringent vegetal taste coupled with a mellow green tea taste. There is a slight bite in the mouth, but in an enjoyable amount. It is not too much or too little, but rather just right. There is also this ever so slightly smoky or woody undertone. It is ...

I thought this an excellent tea and it is definitely among my favorite Dian Hong or Yunnan Red (black teas) that I've ever sampled. It's one of many samples I recently ordered from Harney & Sons.
I chose this for a very cold morning, because I find Yunnan teas to often have a powerful warming quality, and I found i...
Pre-Chingming Yunnan Mao Jian from Upton Tea Imports
Style: Green Tea – Region: Yunnan, China63 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 3/5

This tea has an interesting blend of flavors and aromas. The aroma is sweet, floral, and slightly grassy. The taste, however, is an interesting blend of astringency and sweetness. There is almost a combination of floral notes and vegetal astringency. A very interesting combination that I am not a fan of. I prefer to ha...

I greatly enjoyed this green tea from Upton Tea Imports. The liquor is a beautiful pale yellow. The aroma is very vegetal and grassy, although the taste is not as much. The taste has hints of grass and astringency, with a smoky aftertaste. There are also slight hints of sweetness.
Overall I thoroughly enjoyed this ...
Yunnan Noir from Adagio Teas
Style: Yunnan Gold – Region: Yunnan, China93 / 100 Aroma: 9/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 4/5
Dec. 20th, 2015
This tea is rich and bold with slightly sweet fruity smell and taste. I would say the most prominent taste comparison would be cinnamon or allspice. It reminds me a little of Italian super Tuscans.
I have tried many of the Adagio black teas and this and the black pearls are my two favorite.

This was my first experience with Raw Pu'erh, so this review may be biased on that.
I was initially opposed to this tea. It has an overwhelming bitterness to it that seemed to distract from the other flavors. However, after steeping the tea for a much shorter time (only 10-15s in my gaiwan) I managed to balance out...

This is the first pu-erh tea I've had. I do not have high cholesterol but this was the least expensive pu-erh tea on the shelf and I wanted to try pu-erh so home it came.
Overall happy with the mild taste and that it has some health benefits. The next time I may try another brand to see how it compares but this one ...

With many Chinese teas I find the bitterness to be somewhat overwhelming, but while this tea has some definite bitterness, it is pretty smooth and not at all unpleasant. It's a strong tea with a mild grassy aroma. Very astringent. A bit of a sour aftertaste. On the second steeping when the bitterness was significantly ...

Ooooh, now this I like! This is my favorite flavored pu-erh by a lot. The tea is present, but not fishy. The fruity and nutty flavours blend perfectly with the chocolate bits, creating a complex and pleasing aroma and flavor. There is no bitterness, even after 5 minutes at boiling. Wonderful tea!

The dry tea has a strong smell that made me worry that it would taste artificial, but it doesn't. (And apparently the ingredients are in fact all-natural.) It's sweet, flavorful, and savory; like drinking a pie. Not too sweet, though, and it does have some detectable bitterness. As you'd expect, it has strong strawberr...

Well Verdant Tea has become my go to place to order almost all my tea now. Really just great quality and sourcing, and fair prices.
Anyway, I found this tea so special that I had to resurrect my account here and write a review for it!

The aroma of the rather rough and green leaves is very sharp, like wet hay and, well, fermented tea leaves, it has that distinct fermentation smell that you get off of things that have started to become great friends with the microbes that are now hanging out with them. Mix in faint notes of honey, green beans, spinach...
