It would have been easy for me to overlook this tea if I had only brewed it once. Smooth and light, this tea has a classic high-grown character. But it took multiple steepings and some experimentation to discover how good this tea was at producing multiple cups. Among the best at making multiple infusions of any bla...

I love this tea. It has a rich, full, smooth flavor, but at the same time clean and not too heavy. I steep it for 6-8 minutes and drink it with milk and sugar.

I tried a sample of this tea and liked the taste, which was stronger than most basic blacks I've had. I really appreciate the reasonable prices of Ahmad Teas, and plan to be buying and sampling more from them soon.

My favorite pure black tea from Ahmad Tea, and my favorite tea from any company in this price range.

If I had to pick a single example of a classic black tea, I would pick this one.

Like most of Ahmad's teas, I find this one offers exceptional value: solid quality at a very low price. It is versatile and easy to...

This Ceylon is full of flavor. It is an excellent value for the money and I could happily drink this daily. In fact, I plan on ordering a pound of the damn stuff next time around. This tea makes me grin!

I don't think this tea is particularly bad, it just isn't as good as their other teas and you can probably find a better quality ceylon for cheaper. The taste is crisp and clear and it does the job right, but I'd stick with the fruit teas.

This tea grew on me. I got this as a sample and ended up just having to pay the shipping, so 2 oz for 3 dollars AND a 20% off coupon (which sadly has expired). The banana flavor lends itself well to the crispness of the tea and if you want something to eat shortbread cookies with, I can think of very few things that ...

This was a strong full-bodied black tea. It didn't have much of an aroma, but I liked its taste. Overall I'd drink it again but it won't be my staple black tea.

While this tea is a bit pricier than your average supermarket decaf black tea, it's incredible flavor is well worth the extra $$. Many supermarket decaf teas have an almost washed out flavor compared to their caffeinated counterparts, but not this delicious Ceylon decaf from Harney and Sons! I highly recommend it for...

Mar. 26th, 2012

This tea is among the best decaffeinated pure black teas that I've tried, whether loose-leaf or from a tea bag.

Full-bodied, dark, strong but smooth and somewhat mellow. There is a vaguely keemun-like fruitiness.

I find it interesting that Novus also carries a caffeinated version of this tea, it allows me to com...

Mar. 9th, 2012

A friend brought me this from Europe.

Flavor is a bit dull: not much bite or kick, but a heavy, bitter aftertaste. Malty for a Ceylon. If I had to guess, I would probably have guessed that this was an Assam rather than a Ceylon. However, it wasn't particularly exciting as either.

I was also surprised to find t...

This tea is really good, if not oversteeped. I steeped it for 5 minutes and it was too bitter, but then I tried it again and I steeped it for 3 minutes, and it was perfect. I usually like strong tea, and it was strong enough. It didn't have a very distinctive aroma. I added cream and sugar.

I find it a bit strange that Novus offers both a caffeinated and decaffeinated Ceylon tea from Kenilworth estate. Usually, companies do not wish to draw attention to the difference between a caffeinated tea and its decaffeinated counterpart, as the decaf tea usually pales in comparison. But, in this case, Novus boldl...

Style: Ceylon Black Tea – Region: Ratnapura, Sri Lanka

73 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 4/5
Feb. 13th, 2012

This is a Ceylon whose character is somewhat in between the high-grown, lighter Ceylon black teas and the richer, maltier ones. Strong but smooth, with tones of rice, wintergreen, and malt. Very rich red-brown color.

Although this tea is initially quite smooth, the aftertaste is rather tannic: bitter and astringen...

The first time I made this tea, I brewed it too long (5 minutes) and it was really strong, and too bitter, but when I brewed it for 3 minutes, it was just right. I often like my tea really strong and I have to brew it for a long time. This tea is good. It tastes a lot like other Ceylon teas I've tried, which I usually ...

Another very good black tea from Upton Tea Imports, above-average for Upton's Ceylons, which I tend to like less than their Indian black teas. Middle-of-the-road black tea character, but very well-executed.

This tea is broken into small, wiry pieces of already small leaf, which unfurl upon brewing. Brewed as instr...

This tea is yet another amazing find for me of a tea offering truly exceptional value. After being seriously impressed with Ahmad Tea's Kalami Assam, I decided to check out this tea, an even larger-leaf black tea that was only very slightly higher in price.

The dry leaf is huge, among the largest I have seen of any...

A classic Ceylon. Aroma of the dry leaf is fruity, but this doesn't come through in the brewed cup.

Brews a dark but surprisingly clear cup. Earthy, with savory qualities. Aroma suggests potato and wintergreen, a hint of malt and cocoa. Astringent finish. Not the smoothest tea, and particularly, with more astri...

I highly prefer this tea over the cheaper black teas available. The long leaf tea used here really shines through and provides a smoothly balanced flavor complex. Slight floral notes add to the overall experience, providing a lovely cup of tea.

Longer brewing may yield a more bitter end to the cup, but even so, it...
