Cardamom French Toast from DAVIDsTEA

Style: Flavored Black Tea – Region: Blend

78 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 4/5
Dec. 25th, 2020

Prep: 200F, 2.5tsp, 16oz, 7min

Aroma: There is something to be said for a tea smelling like WGT it’s called. There is a sense of buttery, sugary, french toast. 8/10

Flavor: This is in the zone as well. It does lean on the sweeter side of French toast but this has that richness that you’d associate with break...

64 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 4/5
Dec. 23rd, 2020

Prep: 212F,5min, 2tsp, 16oz water

Aroma: Really getting the black tea malty notes but not a ton of anything else. 6/10

Flavor: This comes across primarily as a creamy black tea. I’m not sure if maybe I just need to shake the tin a bit. It’s a good black tea though! 6/10

Body: Fairly full bodied tea. 7/1...

Earl Grey from Twinings

Style: Earl Grey Tea – Region: ?????

60 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 4/5
Dec. 19th, 2020

I’m not an expert on earl gray. This may be the first I’ve ever had.

Prep: 200F, 5min, 2.5tsp, 16oz

Aroma - There is a ton of citrus exploding out of the cup. I can’t pick up much else, honestly.

Flavor: A little bit of orange peel, more orange zesty notes. It’s pretty hard to get to the actual tea....

Earl Grey Decaffeinated Black Tea from Bigelow Tea

Style: Earl Grey Tea – Region: Blend

51 / 100 Aroma: 5/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 3/5
Dec. 7th, 2020

Having not been either impressed nor repulsed by Bigelow's regular Earl Grey, and having not gotten any new teas to review for some months, and having to work down a stockpile of reviewed teas, I finally raided my wife's cache of the decaf version to try it for a report here. I've missed RateTea more than I've missed ...

Comfort and Joy from Republic of Tea

Style: Flavored Black Tea – Region: Blend

75 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 5/5
Dec. 5th, 2020

Prep: double teabag, 12 oz, hot.

Aroma: this is a spice-driven tea. It’s hard to get past the cinnamon and nutmeg. I think there is an apple note but it’s way behind the spice assault.

Flavor: The flavor, ironically, is all about the apple with a mild cinnamon spice. There may be some cranberry notes trying ...

Holiday Tea from Harney and Sons

Style: Flavored Black Tea – Region: ?????

80 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 4/5
Dec. 3rd, 2020

This was another good value tea offered by Harney & Sons. Hats off to their tea blenders, that is an area they seem to excel in - taking mediocre teas, adding to them, and making them into something better. This seems like a cheap Chinese black tea that is nicely spiced up (with citrus, almond, clove, safflowers, and...

Caveat: ignore my lofty rating if you don't like coconut, or coconut-flavored teas. Then again, those repulsed by coconut are unlikely to purchase this product anyway. :-)

I'm not sure if this is actually different than plain "Earl Grey." According to the Ahmad US website, "Aromatic Earl Grey has a slightly lower dosage of bergamot when compared to Earl Grey," but the Aromatic Earl Grey is only sold in large containers (454g or 500g) and the largest Earl Grey package is 250g. Aug. 10th, 2020

What is a Canadian Breakfast tea? A Ceylon-Keemun blend...flavored with maple, of course! In the dry bag, it smells nearly as "mapley" as their "Maple Tea"—a very strongly maple-infused blend I've consumed a lot, and reviewed already. Since I'm a big fan of that flavor, it was a positive review. :-)
