The aroma of the dry leaf is very fresh smelling, blending notes of roasted sesame and peanuts with green bean and spinach. There is a tiny hint of sauteed mushrooms at the finish, giving the tea a hint of savory.

The first steep's mouthfeel is quite smooth, it was the first thing I noticed, after my initial enjoyme...

Tried this one while on the go using a travel tea mug. I'll have to give it a proper tasting later, at home, but so far I'm pleasantly surprised! More subdued than most black teas, and not bitter at all (though I also made a point to steep it briefly).

Update: Okay, I got to try this again at work. It's definitely a...

Very interesting tea. It has a robust flavor that's hard to pin down in words. The dominant flavor is one that's savory and fruity at the same time. Perhaps akin to the flavor of sourdough bread? It tastes almost like a black tea, but without the bitterness that causes me to dislike most black teas. Of the tea I've tri...

Liu An Gua Pian Green Tea from TeaVivre

Style: Lu An Melon Seed – Region: Xiuning, Anhui, China

97 / 100 Aroma: 10/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 4/5
Jun. 23rd, 2014

The aroma is quite vegetal and also quite nutty, with note of green beans, spinach, chestnut, sweet sesame seed paste (Halva for those who enjoy Middle Eastern desserts) and a very delicate finish of toast. It manages to be sweet and vegetal without the clashing, in fact sniffing this tea makes me a bit hungry.

The aroma is sweet, a blend of delicate cherry and a delicate floral and fresh vegetation. Sniffing this tea reminds me of the aroma of spring rain and refreshing cool air, it is very evocative and delicate.

The first thing that strikes me after my first sip of the first steep is how refreshing it is, I feel revita...

A mix of strong vegetal (I would say green bean and a hint of spinach) and sesame seeds. There is a finish of yeasty bread and cherries.

The beginning of the taste is sweet, gently sweet like honeysuckle nectar and sesame seeds. It reminds me a of the aftertaste you get when eating sesame Halva but with a vegetal qu...

Opened a fresh package of this wonderful loose leaf blend, and enjoyed the fresh aroma of the dry leaves: earthy, slightly smoky and a light honey scent as well. Just over three minutes as a steep with boiling water. Beautiful color and a malty aroma begins to develop.

I am not sure I would classify this as a tradit...

I was impressed with this tea; it made a good cup to enjoy on my work break. I thought it had a subdued flavor compared to other English Breakfasts, and it didn't leave a bitter aftertaste.

Initially sampled at the Philadelphia Coffee and Tea Festival, but I'm glad I sampled this on my own because I liked it even more when I brewed it myself. An unusual Keemun with both cooling and warming qualities. Strong enough to be a breakfast tea, but stands out among both other English Breakfasts and other Keemun...

Bright, mellow, impressive flavor and aroma. There are slight nutty hints like a good dragonwell tea, but more herbaceous notes that linger as an aftertaste.

I had been brewing this in a small gaiwan, yielding at least 4 good short steepings, but also tried it in a tea thermos, adding 175F water over the leaves sev...

This tea is beautiful in appearance so it is not surprising that the aroma is also beautiful. It is very vegetal and slightly sweet. Once the leaves are brewed it is still very vegetal but also has a slight nuttiness.

Truly a fantastic green tea, much better than any other liu an gua pian that I have tried. The dry leaves have a beautiful aroma and unfurl gently to release their emerald brew. Sweet, rich and releasing different flavors with each steeping.

I used a small glass gaiwan to brew so I could watch the leaves, and did a ...

An inexpensive Keemun of very good quality for its price. Very smooth and mellow, but rich. Classic Keemun flavor and aroma: winey and slightly smoky.

Dry leaf is fine and pretty broken, with a mild but very pleasing aroma.

Upon brewing I notice a very gentle smokiness, and the characteristic wine-like quality ...

I must thank Angel at Teavivre for this experience. My tea arrived today and I have been ogling the whole box since.

Now this was more my type of green tea! While not my favorite, I thought it was much better than the last Teavivre green I had, Nonpareil Te Gong Huang Shan Mao Feng.

Brewing a light green color, this tea was smooth and subtly flavored. I thought it tasted great both as a hot and cold tea.

While I hate to review one of Teavivre's teas so poorly since I'm usually a big fan, this particular tea was not for me! This tea didn't have much of a smell or a taste. Starting with the dry leaves, I have to say this tea is beautiful. Bright green whole leaves and buds with a slight silvery fuzz, the aroma that comes from them is fresh and slightly floral, specifically it reminds me of yarrow.

I'm starting to think I really like this type of green tea. The first sample of it, from Upton, I liked very much, and this one I like even better.

The dry leaf has a strong and very pleasant aroma, one I'd describe as earthy and herbaceous, and suggestive of sweetness.

This has a richer and bolder flavor than m...

I've liked most of the products Arbor Teas offers, so I was little bit disappointed with this one.

Smells mean a lot to me and this tea didn't deliver. It smelled smokey, which I normally like, but this was a little too much like an ash tray. The smell is really the only thing I found disagreeable about this tea, a...
