Lung Ching from De Theefabriek
Style: Dragon Well (Long Jing) – Region: Zhejiang, China60 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 3/5
Jun. 13th, 2017
I've seen Dragonwell here and there and I had the general impression that it is a pretty well-known tea with a good reputation, so i wanted to try it. (In fact, one of my proudest tea lover moments was seeing Longjing mentioned in Death's End by Liu Cixin and knowing what that is - and actually having some myself.)

Smokey Wuhuan Groen from Simon Lévelt
Style: Green Tea – Region: China58 / 100 Aroma: 9/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 3/5
Jun. 12th, 2017
I don't know what it is about this tea, but I always oversteep it. The first time I ever made it, I even forgot about it for one and a half hours. When I found it, it was cold and bitter. (In my defense, it was graduation day and I was a bit distracted.)
And just now when I wanted to review it it got too strong again,...
Thé Marocain from Simon Lévelt
Style: Green Tea with Mint – Region: ?????60 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 3/5
Jun. 10th, 2017
A blend of gunpowder tea and dried mint. It tastes the same as the mint tea I made before this, using gunpowder tea and mint. It's easier because the ingredients are already together, but I don't consider that an advantage. I loved all the steps of making mint tea before.
No matter. This seems to contain a lot of mi...
Original English Loose Tea from Pickwick Tea
Style: English Breakfast – Region: Blend7 / 100 Aroma: 2/10 Flavor: 1/5 Value: 4/5
Jun. 9th, 2017
I know I don't like English blend tea, but this tea was very cheap (regular price €1.40 for 100 g, and it was on a 35% discount) and I figured that since it's loose tea I'll have more control, and it might end up tasting decent.
Wrong.
It tastes and smells like any other cheap English blend from flat teabags: sou...
Bi Luo Chun from AhaTee
Style: Bi Luo Chun – Region: China60 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 2/5
Jun. 9th, 2017
This tea was quite expensive and it doesn't smell all that good. Especially the used leaves smell pretty bad. I still haven't figured out how to make this, but I use relatively little leaf and don't steep it for long. The result tastes all right, though. The colour of the infusion isn't very bright, a slightly dirty ye...

Style: Earl Grey Tea – Region: Blend63 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 4/5
Jun. 9th, 2017
This is the standard Earl Grey carried by Het Gouden Randje, but it's unusually citrus-y. I mentioned once that this tea is different from other Earl Greys I'm used to and the owner of the shop told me that other customers had said similar things.
So, it tastes and smells really citrus-y, almost like it's flavoured ...
Gunpowder from Tanay
Style: Gunpowder Green Tea – Region: Sri Lanka / Ceylon50 / 100 Aroma: 4/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 5/5
Jun. 8th, 2017
I always like to have a cheap gunpowder tea which I can drink as much as I like without worries. I buy 250 g or 500 g boxes from a Turkish shop, and they are incredibly cheap (this 250 g box was probably €2.25 or something). However, the brands change now and then.
This one was also incredibly cheap, but I don't l...
China Sweet Osmanthus from Het Gouden Randje
Style: Osmanthus Tea – Region: Guangxi, China75 / 100 Aroma: 9/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 4/5
Jun. 8th, 2017
I asked the owner of Het Gouden Randje to recommend me a Chinese green tea, and she served me this. I don't usually go for flavoured teas, but this one was so good that I bought 50 grams of it. I can't actually remember the price (of course it doesn't help that I bought three other kinds of tea at the same time, as wel...

Style: Green Tea – Region: Vietnam92 / 100 Aroma: 9/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 3/5

Since I fell in love with Nam Lanh OP from the same brand but I currently prefer green teas, I decided to try this one as it's also from Vietnam.
And I was in luck! It tastes like a green version of the Nam Lanh black tea. It smells the same and, best of all, it's got the same intense "smoldering" flavour.
I drink bo...
Young Hyson from De Theefabriek
Style: Young Hyson – Region: China79 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 3/5
Jun. 7th, 2017
It smells nice enough, but not that special. It tastes great, though. A very strong flavour. If I use too little leaf, it doesn't really have that intensity that I love about this, but if I use too much it easily gets too bitter.
It's a great everyday green tea, but I don't worry too much about running out. I like thi...
Ruhuna Orange Pekoe from Simon Lévelt
Style: Ceylon Black Tea – Region: Sri Lanka / Ceylon65 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 4/5
Jun. 7th, 2017
The dry tea leaves smell like dried plums. The tea tastes very sweet and maybe kind of spicy. If you don't use too much leaf it doesn't easily get bitter either. It's relatively cheap for a loose-leaf tea, as well. It's pretty nice as an everyday black tea, but the way it smells is the best thing about it.

Other Vietnamese teas I've had have been fantastic, so I decided to give this a try.
It's good enough, it's got a little bit of what I love so much about Nam Lanh OP and Pin Ho Jade from De Theefabriek, the flavour I can best describe as "smoldering", especially if you use a generous amount of leaf. It's fine for two ...
Nam Lanh OP from De Theefabriek
Style: Black Tea – Region: Vietnam90 / 100 Aroma: 9/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 4/5
Jun. 6th, 2017
I love this tea. It caught my eye because I'd never had Vietnamese tea before. It turned out to taste amazing. The price is quite decent, too.
I use half a teaspoonful of leaves per cup. It's a bit smokey, but not the way smoked teas are, a little sweet, a little spicy. The best word I can come up with to describe it ...
