Snow Buds Green Tea from Arbor Teas
Style: Snow Buds – Region: Fujian, China77 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 4/5
May. 12th, 2014
A delightful, light tea that tastes to me more like a delicate green tea than a white tea. I've tried two other snow buds or Xue Ya teas, and I think this is a prime example of this style.
Dry leaf is coarse and hairy, silvery.
Brews fairly slowly, as I'd expect for an intact, whole-leafed tea. I steeped for th...
Tie Guan Yin High Grade from Yezi Tea
Style: Tie Guan Yin – Region: Fujian, China87 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 5/5
May. 9th, 2014
The dry tea smells like matcha, with vanilla. I brewed this for 4 minutes using water at 205 degrees. The aroma while steeping smelled like hay, with hints of jasmine and another floral. Maybe it is the orchid that is mentioned in the tea's description. Not sure.
This has a mellow flavor, and the same florals fr...
Jin Pin from Yezi Tea
Style: Black Tea – Region: Fujian, China90 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 5/5
May. 9th, 2014
When I opened the bag of tea and took a deep inhale, I was not immediately impressed. It smelled like tea.
But then I boiled the water and started to brew this, and wow, it's gorgeous. The tea is a lovely amber color and the brewed tea smells exactly like the malted grains used in brewing beer. I mean *exactly*...
Anxi Tie Guan Yin from Teasenz
Style: Tie Guan Yin – Region: Anxi, Fujian, China97 / 100 Aroma: 10/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 4/5

the aroma of this tea is heavenly, richly floral and very heady. I would go so far as to say the orchid and gardenia floral aroma is so intense that it is intoxicating, I might need to lay down. It is very sweet, like honey and flower nectar which is fitting with the intensity of the floral. This might actually have th...

This tea definitely smells of coconut and pineapple. After brewing for 3 minutes, it also tastes like coconut and pineapple.
My problem is that there's also an extra flavor I don't care for. It's kind of like a peachy floral taste, and it creates an odd aftertaste.
I wanted to like this because it seems like ...
Jin Jun Mei Black Tea from Yezi Tea
Style: Black Tea – Region: Fujian, China97 / 100 Aroma: 10/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 5/5
Apr. 12th, 2014
The aroma of the dry leaves is sharply sweet and a bit fruity, specifically a bit muscatel, there are strong notes of cocoa, caramelized sugar, orchids, and oak wood. It is a rich and bright aroma that wafts from the leaves, and certainly quite sweet. I would say that the aroma is one of the more sweeter Chinese black ...

The aroma of this Tie Guan Yin is nothing short of heavenly, very floral and sweet. I mainly notice orchids and honeysuckles but for an extra treat I can pick out the aroma of scuppernongs.
I was able to get four steepings out of this tea. The taste starts out very floral, primarily orchids with a hint of lilac, it ...

The aroma is very fruity, strong notes of juicy plums with a side of roasted peanuts and a faint malt at the finish. I really want to make sure everyone knows this tea is very fruity, almost surprisingly so! It does not smell at all like a flavored tea, but like someone placed a plate of sliced plums right next to the ...

One of the best teas I've ever had. Very smooth with no bitterness at all. I found a box/100 locally for under $8 which makes it a great bargain.

A smooth, but ultimately mediocre oolong. Very dark, not terribly bitter, but also very uninteresting. Most Chinese restaurants have tea with more of an interesting flavor and aroma.
Dry leaf has a mild, mellow aroma. Upon brewing, the roasted aroma comes out more.
The brewed cup has an oily film on top of it....
White Peony King from Shang Tea
Style: White Peony Tea – Region: Fujian, China83 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 3/5

The aroma is quite mild evoking fresh vegetation and early springtime with a hint of floral. Brewed the leaves have the aroma of minerals, vegetation, and sage. The liquid also has notes of sage and smells incredibly clean.
The taste is mild (I have used that word a lot with this tea!) and a bit citrusy. There are ...
Caramel Apple Oolong from 52 Teas
Style: Flavored Oolong – Region: Fujian, China50 / 100 Aroma: 3/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 3/5

The aroma smells nothing like apples or caramel, it smells like melons. I really do not like melons. Once brewed the melon smell dies down and there are notes of apples and caramel.
I am going to start this by saying I like the Oolong base, it is rich and sweet with caramel notes (ok that actually could be from the ...

I find this tea a bit thin for my taste, though a decent Chinese black. For reference, I lean more toward the Yunnan blacks. It has a lovely aroma and a fair overall mouth feel.

A pleasant, full-bodied tea, but aromatically weak and not very interesting. Not as aromatic as Ten Ren's white tea, which remains my favorite white tea from a tea bag. Smells very mild, mostly of caramel, very faintly floral.
Flavor is subdued: not very bitter. Just the right amount of astringency: smooth, even ...

Brewed from a paper teabag stored for some time in the cupboard at my parents' house. It was surprisingly fresh and aromatic. Smells nice, but the flavor was more bitter than I like.
The tea bag contains fairly large, broken pieces of leaf, larger than in most tea bags, but smaller than in most high-end pyramid sa...

The aroma mixes honey, orchids, lilacs, nuttiness, and freshly mown hay. The brewed leaves have the aroma of fresh vegetation and heady flowers with a slight note of chestnut.
The taste is mild and gentle, it tastes like a cup of warm honey suckle nectar with an aftertaste of chestnuts.
The second steep is simil...

Very nice lightly roasted oolong with pleasant aroma and aftertaste. Full bodied and filled with interesting notes that remind me of tart baked apples, with hints of cinnamon and caramel. Second steeping of the leaves yields a bit more woodiness, and hints of walnut. A very interesting and nice oolong that I look forwa...

This tea was a complete surprise. It seems to be out-of-stock and I know it's been in my friend's cupboard for at least a couple years, so who knows how old it was--it was definitely not terribly fresh, yet it was still among one of the best teas I've sampled in a long time. If it's old, then it has certainly aged we...

The aroma of this delightfully fuzzy tea is initially citrus sweet but also has notes of papery. I know, papery is an odd thing to say about a tea's aroma but to me it smells like artisan Washi and very pleasant. There are also notes of cedar and fresh greenery. Once the tea is steeped it takes on the aroma of artichok...

The aroma of the dry leaves is extremely fruity with a distinct smokiness and wood smell (oak or hickory). The slightly sweet medium bodied tea liquor however, has no noticeable fruity aroma or taste. But, the liquor does maintain the smokey aroma and wood smell, which is present also in the tea's after taste, and it ...

The aroma is very mild and lovely, a mixture of green, roasted, and honeysuckles. It reminds me of the way my kitchen smells after I make my own Hojicha.
The taste is mild for a Ti Kuan Yin and more green than floral. The initial taste is a toasty green with hints of floral, as the taste fades you are left with swe...

I like this tea. It has a weird kind of aroma, but it's good overall. The flavor is strong, crisp, and not too bitter. I added cream and sugar. It's interesting that on the package it recommends adding cream and not milk, because I always add cream to my tea.

A wonderful, nuanced black tea with a mild flavor, and complex aroma, also creating nice sensations on the palate.
Dry leaf has a mild but very pleasing aroma suggestive of sweet dried fruit, but fresher and lighter smelling.
Upon brewing, this produces a very dark brown cup with a mellow aroma, yet exquisite fla...
