Earl Grey Full Leaf from Tazo Tea

Style: Earl Grey Tea – Region: Blend

60 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 3/5
Jun. 23rd, 2014

I wanted to try another Earl Grey to make sure I properly gave that flavor a shot: I'm now more sure that black teas aren't my bag.

I think that someone who actually likes black tea (especially with a slight bitterness) would find this one pleasant. The bergamot and lavender work well together, both as a flavor and ...

Zen Full Leaf from Tazo Tea

Style: Flavored Green Tea – Region: Blend

If you're in three mood for a lightly minty green tea, this one isn't bad. The flavors are smoother, subtler, and more harmonious than their herbal mint tea.

Rooted Raspberry Tea from Positiffitea

Style: Flavored Green Tea – Region: Blend

80 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 3/5
May. 23rd, 2014

This is the first time I've really enjoyed a flavored green tea. More often I prefer my green tea pure, but the raspberry in this works really, really well. It's the kind of tea I could see becoming an "everyday" type with me. The aroma was pleasantly fruity too.

Bumble Bee White Tea from Positiffitea

Style: Flavored White Tea – Region: Blend

60 / 100 Aroma: 5/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 3/5
May. 23rd, 2014

With a name referencing bees, I mistakenly assumed the flavor would be of honey. It turned out the bee reference is due to the assortment of flowers included in the drink.

This tea is perfectly fine for a white tea. It didn't overwhelm me with awesomeness, but I think regular white tea drinkers may really enjoy it.

Passion Full Leaf from Tazo Tea

Style: Herbal Tea – Region: Blend

80 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 3/5
Apr. 28th, 2014

This has long been my favorite of the Tazo teas, and with its full leaf form it has managed to improve. The taste is very full and juicy, almost like drinking a hot juice with no sugar added. (Sweetness would only spoil this tea.) The flavor is quite tart, but not acidic. It has a mouthfeel that sort of clings to your ...

Blueberry Rooibos from Rishi Tea

Style: Fruit Rooibos – Region: Blend

87 / 100 Aroma: 9/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 4/5
Apr. 20th, 2014

Slowly but surely, I'm realizing that rooibos may be my favorite base for flavored teas. The aroma of this one before being brewed is intensely of blueberry, which I love. The flavor of the drink is both more subtle and more balanced. For me, this makes it a solid anytime tea. I brewed it fairly long, six minutes, but ...

Pu-erh Ginger from Rishi Tea

Style: Flavored Pu-erh – Region: Blend

70 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 3/5
Apr. 18th, 2014

This is a very interesting tea. It's got the body of a black/breakfast tea, but a flavor I prefer over that kind. The ginger works well with the pu-erh, which has an almost raw fish-like aroma and flavor that is better than that description might make it sound. This tea works really well with food.

Apr. 9th, 2014

This isn't a bad tea, but it would be more impressive if the flavor felt fuller. A more robust rooibos taste might make it feel more substantial. Or, perhaps I need to try this using two tea bags instead of one. I may try that next time.

Still, with a bit of spice and no sweetness, when you're craving something that...

Vanilla Rooibos Parfait Full Leaf from Tazo Tea

Style: Flavored Rooibos – Region: Blend

77 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 2/5
Mar. 24th, 2014

I really like this one. It's sweet, smells nice, and has a robust flavor mixture that complements rooibos very well without overpowering it. I only wish the flavor was even more robust or even creamy. I bet this would make a lovely dessert tea if it was more creamy.

Calming Chamomile - Organic Herbal Tea from Simply Balanced

Style: Chamomile Blend – Region: Blend

57 / 100 Aroma: 5/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 4/5
Mar. 21st, 2014

I'll need to update this later, but for now I'll say that it's a straightforward chamomile -- so if that's what you like, then this is an affordable way to get it. I'd be willing to bet that it'd be a solid base for accents you add yourself. I'm not big on chamomile, but it isn't too bad. Need to try it again before gi...

Lady Grey from Twinings

Style: Fruit Black Tea – Region: Blend

53 / 100 Aroma: 5/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 3/5
Feb. 23rd, 2014

Meh. Again, I was underwhelmed by this tea from Twinings. Like their Earl Grey tea, I certainly appreciated the use of citrus to balance out the black tea. However, I found the overall effect unimpressive. I really need to try a high quality Earl Grey or Lady Grey tea to give these styles a fair shot. I'm glad I have a...

Feb. 17th, 2014

I loved this fruity tea. It needed no sweetener and had a very sweet, pleasant, substantive aroma. It's an "herbal" tea (no actual tea in it), but is nevertheless excellent.

I tried this at a friend's house and do not know what she paid for it -- hence, I gave the value an average rating, but really I don't know the...

Caramel Almond Amaretti from Teavana

Jan. 27th, 2014

I like the flavor, aroma, and color of this tea. (It's bright pink due to the beetroot in it.) It doesn't actually have any tea or herb leaves in it, but I still like it. Its sweetness is nice and subtle -- just enough, so that I don't feel the need to add any sweetener. The apple and beetroot give it a not-quite-fruit...

Lemon Ginger from Yogi Tea

Style: Wellness Tea / Medicinal Tea – Region: Blend

73 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 3/5
Jan. 25th, 2014

As a fan of both lemon and ginger, I got plenty of those flavors in this tea and enjoyed both. Though I think "medicinal" teas generally oversell their usefulness for addressing specific ailments, I could certainly see how the citrus and spice in this would make you *feel* better if you had the sniffles. Also, when my ...

Vanilla Bean from Mighty Leaf Tea

Style: Vanilla Black Tea – Region: Blend

47 / 100 Aroma: 5/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 2/5
Jan. 24th, 2014

This tea has, unsurprisingly, a distinctly 'black tea lightly sweetened with vanilla' aroma. (In fact, the only other ingredient listed is "natural flavors".) In general, I like the simplicity of its design. After tasting it, I'm a fan of the vanilla, but I think I may not be a black tea person. I prefer teas that don'...

Jan. 23rd, 2014

This tea is quite nice and has a soothing aroma. It's hard to place whether the scent is vanilla or chamomile, but it's distinctly "one note". To be fair, I've had these tea bags for quite a long time, so perhaps it has gone stale or lost some of its oomf.

I tried the second steep with some sugar added, which gave i...

Jan. 21st, 2014

To be fair, it takes me awhile to get through tea and I've had these packets a long time. So perhaps the tea has gone stale. I think I liked it a bit more when I first bought it.

As of now, I'm not detecting any distinct ginger and very little pear. The flavor isn't bad, but is very meh. For my second cup I added ho...

Samurai Chai Mate from Teavana

Jan. 20th, 2014

Though the instructions say to steep this tea 5-6 minutes, I've found steeping it for 4 produces a more delicate flavor that I prefer. The only distinct aroma I can smell is a light cinnamon scent. It's not an especially complex tea, but it's nice.

I remember getting this because I enjoyed their free sample at the s...

Jan. 17th, 2014

I'm still making up my mind about this tea. I think I may have over-brewed it slightly. Also, I added a little sugar, but think it may benefit from a little more. Also, I think it might be better cold, but this time I tried it hot.

Regardless, the apple smell isn't quite as strong as I was expecting/hoping, but it's...
