This is a nice tea to look at, but the flavor is weak and bland. A little nutty taste. No plans to get more of this.

Organic White Peony (Bai MuDan) Tea from TeaVivre
Style: White Peony Tea – Region: Fuding, Fujian, China90 / 100 Aroma: 10/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 4/5
Jun. 15th, 2018
I've had this for a few weeks now, but I've put off this review because this is my first pure white tea. The leaves were picked in April of 2016, making the tea a little over two years old as of this review. It has a gentle yet complex aroma of autumn leaves, vanilla, cinnamon, old books, and hints of flowers and spice...

Moonlight Dragon Ball White Tea from TeaVivre
Style: Moonlight White – Region: Jinggu, Yunnan, China86 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 5/5
May. 29th, 2018
An amazing and sweet tea! It is not very expensive and is a very high quality tea. The ball is tightly packed and I was able to get several infusions(keep in mind you can't break up the ball easily so I would use a at least 12 oz cup and fuse for 5 minutes). The aroma isn't strong but is very nice and sweet, it smells ...

Yunnan Silver Needles from Passenger Coffee
Style: Silver Needle – Region: Yunnan, China96 / 100 Aroma: 9/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 4/5
Nov. 7th, 2017
This tea was served at Copper Cup coffee shop in Lancaster, PA. Prior to that, I hadn't even heard of Passenger Coffee, and this tea really blew me away; I thought it exceptional.
I tend not to like silver needle white teas because they're often a bit too subtle (or, put less diplomatically, bland or weak) for me, ...

Shou Mei White from Caina Tea
Style: Shou Mei White Tea – Region: Fujian, China85 / 100 Aroma: 9/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 5/5
Oct. 11th, 2017
Shou Mei is a very stem-y and leafy loose left. Caina says to steep 1tbsp for about 25 seconds, with all the stems and big leafs it's pretty hard to measure. It's actually a lot easier just to eyeball and take a guess, if you drink a lot of loose leaf tea it's not that hard to guesstimate it. To me it has a light flowe...

Mutan White from Harney and Sons
Style: White Peony Tea – Region: Fu'an, Fujian, China84 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 4/5
Jun. 20th, 2017
I thought this was an above-average white peony or bai mu dan.
Dry leaf smells different from any other White Peony tea I've tried, notes of candied citrus peel, a sort of bittersweet smell, a slight pungency, almost hinting at camphor. I'm intrigued, and eager to try this to see what kind of cup this leaf produces...

Bai Mu Dan from AhaTee
Style: White Peony Tea – Region: China56 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 2/5
Jun. 14th, 2017
The first few attempts at making this tea didn't turn out good at all, kind of sour and unpleasant. It is the first white tea I try, so it might be because of that. I decided just now to actually have a look at the instructions on the box instead of making it like a green tea. I was surprised to see it recommend a 5-mi...

Silver Rain White Tea Full Leaf from Republic of Tea
Style: Silver Needle – Region: China60 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 3/5
Jan. 29th, 2017
I think I let this steep a little too long, or perhaps the barista used too hot of water, because there was a light almost-bitterness to this tea for me. It's not bad, but I have a hard time finding white teas that I really like. Also, I think I felt a slight tickle or ache at the back of my throat in response to this ...

White Peony (Pai Mu Tan) from Adagio Teas
Style: White Peony Tea – Region: Fujian, China80 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 4/5
Jan. 23rd, 2017
This tea exhibits a pure, delicate flavor -- essentially what every white tea is described as by the company that sells it. It has no bitterness and a smooth flavor. When in the mood for a straightforward, pure tea that isn't grassy, this is a nice choice.
To prepare this tea, I used the Chinese method I was shown a...

Fuding White Tea Cake from Upton Tea Imports
Style: White Tea – Region: Fuding, Fujian, China73 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 3/5
Jan. 9th, 2017
I tried this together with Upton's ZW42. I actually liked this one a lot, and not the other.
Brews up a dark, full-bodied cup that, like the other compressed white tea cake, is rather bitter. I find the bitterness more blunt though, whereas ZW42 has a sharp bitterness.
The aroma is strange and hard to describe....

White Tea Cake from Upton Tea Imports
Style: White Tea – Region: China60 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 2/5
Jan. 9th, 2017
This was the first of two compressed white tea cakes from Upton that I sampled. It was interesting but I'm not sure I'd want to drink this tea regularly. This was a strong tea, unpleasantly sharp but also thin-bodied, and I think I may have brewed it too strongly, wanting a fuller-bodied tea, but by the time I had fi...

White Peony from Jasmine Pearl Tea Company

I picked this up at a Whole Foods in Portland and it is an instant favorite!
The aroma is delightful, this tea is why air freshener and candle companies sell fragrances called "White Peony"
This tea has a fabulous light floral flavor with a mild honeysuckle sweetness. I like to give it a nice long steep to draw o...

White Tea (White Peony Tea) from Triple Leaf Tea
Style: White Peony Tea – Region: Fujian, China60 / 100 Aroma: 5/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 4/5
Oct. 20th, 2016
This tea came from an estate sale (good places to find teas you haven't tried before, really cheap!), in its originally wrapped box.
You know, it's pathetic what some of these highly paid marketing consultants can concoct. I reviewed a loose-leaf Basilur floral tea whose packaging blatantly pandered to romantical...

Silver Needle from ITO EN
Style: Silver Needle – Region: Fujian, China63 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 3/5
Aug. 12th, 2016
If you like white teas (so pale - must steep longer.) this is a safe choice and has not only a light grassy note but I got "flowers" - or maybe even honey if that's not reaching too far.
I let it steep forever - over 5 minutes and it was still so pale, but it is, after all, a white tea.
Rich in antioxidants. Lik...

Organic White Silver Needle from Upton Tea Imports
Style: Silver Needle – Region: China67 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 3/5
Jan. 29th, 2016
I am a huge fan of silver needle tea, but this one was sadly disappointing. The aroma of the dry leaves is wonderfully sweet and floral. The aroma of the steeped tea, however, is almost nonexistent. The taste of the tea is as expected for a silver needle. There are notes of flowers, sweet grass, and honey. However, I f...

This is a late review that I somehow forgot to post; the company is now closed, and the tea wasn't my favorite, but why not share?
Another dud, the second one in a batch of teas that I've otherwise thought offered solid quality and excellent value.
The dry leaf looks unusually wiry for a white peony or bai mu dan...

White Peony King from Shang Tea
Style: White Peony Tea – Region: Fujian, China83 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 5/5
Nov. 9th, 2015
This is a great tea for most people. Green tea can be more of an acquired taste and red(black) tea can be heavy on the tannins, but this white peony is right in the middle of tea flavors. Both the smell and the taste are more floral than other teas, so beware if you decide to steep it extra strong. You can steep the te...

Very nice tea. I enjoy white teas, especially silver needle, but that can be expensive for daily consumption. This tea, on the other hand, is more affordable and has that distinctly white tea taste. It is not as sweet or smooth as silver needle, but it is nevertheless very light, delicate, and simple.
I prepared 5g ...

Snowbud from Adagio Teas
Style: White Tea – Region: Fujian, China83 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 4/5

This is an excellent white tea. The aroma is very faint, light, and floral. The taste complements the aroma beautifully with it's lightness and delicateness. It is quite sweet and fruity, but not in an overwhelming manner. There is not a bit of bitterness anywhere, but just smooth and simple sweetness. The taste and ar...

The aroma of the fluffy leaves is pretty mild, you really need to sniff hard to detect much of an aroma, but when you do there are notes of cucumbers, melons, and a hint of paper and sage.
The taste is, well, you know, it is ok. Nothing to jump up and down about, it starts off with mild notes of cucumber and celery,...

Silver Needle from Adagio Teas
Style: Silver Needle – Region: Fujian, China60 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 3/5

For some this tea is probably perfect. They can likely enjoy the muted spectrum of flavor and scent that is mostly lost on me. As much as I’d like to be in their camp, I need the volume on my white tea to by dialed just a bit higher. That said, what I do taste and smell is not bad. This is an enjoyable, if muted, tea...

I tend not to like Silver Needle teas, but I found this one more interesting than most. It was my favorite silver needle yet from China (I strongly prefer the African-grown versions).
Dry leaf is mildly aromatic, and upon brewing, the cup initially smells like a typical silver needle of good quality, with the typic...

Silver Needle White Tea from Arbor Teas

A very typical silver needle, enjoyable, good quality, and true to the style, but this is a style of tea I'm not a huge fan of, especially given its high price.
Brewed 3 minutes as recommended, this was too weak for me. I preferred a single, long infusion of about 12-15 minutes.
Very low in astringency, leading ...

White Peony from Octavia Tea

Excellent! Another sample served at Velvet Sky Bakery.
The leaf was rather broken, but this may have been due to being packed in the small sample container: this is a very fragile, large-leafed tea.
Brews up a clear, light-colored cup that is on the delicate side for a white peony. Aroma is floral, with notes o...
