Kenya Flowery Orange Pekoe from Simon Lévelt
Style: Black Tea – Region: Kenya45 / 100 Aroma: 4/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 3/5

This tea tastes okay, but there's nothing really special. It has a warm and earthy aroma that I feel is pretty common for half-decent black teas. It's drinkable even when it gets a bit bitter.
It's not bad for a tea this price if you just want something to drink every day, but there are better options out there for si...
Black Mao Feng from Simon Lévelt
Style: Keemun Mao Feng – Region: Xiuning, Anhui, China56 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 3/5
Jan. 4th, 2018
Based on my experiences with black gunpowder, I was not surprised that this doesn't taste like Mao Feng at all. It's more like other Chinese black teas I've had. It's got just a tiny little bit of sweetness but it's hardly there. It's pleasantly almost-bitter (but I did make it pretty strong).
Resteeps quite decently...
Grand Pouchong Oolong from Simon Lévelt
Style: Pouchong Tea – Region: Taiwan / Formosa76 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 3/5

My friend gave me some of this tea to try.
I'm not good at tasting the difference between different greenish oolongs. Jade oolong, four seasons, Tie Guanyin, they often taste almost the same to me. It was the same with this one at the first steeping.
The second cup tasted different, though, like jade oolong but g...
Herfstthee from Simon Lévelt
Style: Chai / Spiced Tea – Region: Blend61 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 2/5 Value: 4/5

"Warming" is indeed the best word to describe this tea. It smells like baked goods: what comes to mind is Finnish christmas cookie dough. I can clearly taste the anise and the licorice, the cinnamon too, but I'm not sure about the sage, honeybush and orange. Actually, this tea tastes like anise and licorice but not tha...

Style: Yunnan Red – Region: Yunnan, China70 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 4/5

This tea smells similar to Simon Lévelt's Ruhuna Orange Pekoe. The leaves are more colourful, with many golden tones, but the aroma has a similar strong dried fruit quality. However, I don't think I'd describe it as plums, exactly. Raisins come to mind, or rather, a kind of spicy raisin cake.
The liqueur tastes ver...
Finest Oolong from Simon Lévelt
Style: Oolong Tea – Region: China43 / 100 Aroma: 4/10 Flavor: 2/5 Value: 3/5

This tea could almost be summarised in a single word: Nutty. It has an intensely nutty aroma and flavour. It also reminds me of dry autumn leaves (not that I've tasted many of those, but I can't shake the association). I'm not a fan of nutty teas, so I don't really enjoy this one.
This is the first tea I tried with ...
Golden Lapsang Souchong from Simon Lévelt
Style: Lapsang Souchong – Region: China80 / 100 Aroma: 9/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 4/5
Jul. 11th, 2017
This is the reason I've never really tasted "smokiness" (supposedly present in gunpowder and young hyson) in teas that aren't actually smoked. Lapsang souchong was the first loose-leaf tea I ever drank - in fact, curiosity about this smoked tea I'd heard about is what drove me to try loose-leaf tea. (This is not that f...

The dry leaves look green, orange and black, and the used leaves a really soft greenish orange. The liquid is much lighter than most other black teas I have.
This tea is extremely smooth and soft and tastes kind of earthy. It doesn't easily get bitter.
Smokey Wuhuan Groen from Simon Lévelt
Style: Green Tea – Region: China58 / 100 Aroma: 9/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 3/5

I don't know what it is about this tea, but I always oversteep it. The first time I ever made it, I even forgot about it for one and a half hours. When I found it, it was cold and bitter. (In my defense, it was graduation day and I was a bit distracted.)
And just now when I wanted to review it it got too strong again,...
Thé Marocain from Simon Lévelt
Style: Green Tea with Mint – Region: ?????60 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 3/5
Jun. 10th, 2017
A blend of gunpowder tea and dried mint. It tastes the same as the mint tea I made before this, using gunpowder tea and mint. It's easier because the ingredients are already together, but I don't consider that an advantage. I loved all the steps of making mint tea before.
No matter. This seems to contain a lot of mi...
Ruhuna Orange Pekoe from Simon Lévelt
Style: Ceylon Black Tea – Region: Sri Lanka / Ceylon65 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 4/5
Jun. 7th, 2017
The dry tea leaves smell like dried plums. The tea tastes very sweet and maybe kind of spicy. If you don't use too much leaf it doesn't easily get bitter either. It's relatively cheap for a loose-leaf tea, as well. It's pretty nice as an everyday black tea, but the way it smells is the best thing about it.

Other Vietnamese teas I've had have been fantastic, so I decided to give this a try.
It's good enough, it's got a little bit of what I love so much about Nam Lanh OP and Pin Ho Jade from De Theefabriek, the flavour I can best describe as "smoldering", especially if you use a generous amount of leaf. It's fine for two ...
