This earl grey had the strangest green unripe taste. I wasn’t a fan which is disappointing since I had high hopes after trying their Assam.

I tried this tea because the positive ratings by others. It really is a great tea.
The aroma took me by surprise at first. It's hard to describe...Sort of like peppermint. You might expect the tea to taste really sharp judging by the scent. The exact opposite is true. It tastes very smooth and clean. It has a refres...
Hibiscus High Tea from Mountain Rose Herbs
Style: Herbal Tea – Region: Oregon, United States80 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 5/5

This is a hibiscus-based herbal blend. I tried it because I like hibiscus teas, but I wanted something more well-rounded and which cut down on the natural sourness of hibiscus.
The tea has a very nice scent both raw and brewed. You can tell MRH uses high-quality ingredients. The color of the brewed tea is a beautifu...
Houjicha Tea from Mountain Rose Herbs
Style: Hojicha – Region: China87 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 5/5

The scent is rich but subtle. It gives the impression that the tea will have a deep flavor sealed within it. And it's true - the taste is very well rounded. There isn't any of the sharp wood-like quality you might expect, but instead it's like a balanced earthiness. Something about the tea instantly makes me feel relax...

Oooh, very tasty tulsi! Very smooth, lightly spiced with complexities that taste not-quite-floral, not-quite-citrus. Very soothing aroma too.
It can steep for a long time without turning bitter (which is good, because it diffuses slowly) and has a lovely light gold color. The water I used was fresh boiled. My first ...
Holy Basil, Krishna (Tulsi) from Mountain Rose Herbs
Style: Tulsi / Holy Basil – Region: India67 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 4/5

A solid holy basil tea. Has the distinct basil flavor (though I've only tried one other so far), but with a hint of pepperiness. Definitely savory, not bitter. If you like a nice, smooth holy basil as a drink, this one is quite good. I do wish the taste was more robust, though, as it's relatively light--especially by t...

My all-time favorite example of Tulsi or holy basil is the purple-leafed variety sold by Upton Tea Imports. Since I had been highly impressed by the the green-leafed (Rama) and Vana varieties from Mountain Rose Herbs, liking each much better than their counterparts from Upton, I was excited to try this one.
It was ...
Holy Basil, Vana (Tulsi) from Mountain Rose Herbs
Style: Vana Tulsi – Region: India83 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 5/5
Feb. 19th, 2014
Dry leaf smells complex, like dried ginger and anise, with a hint of straw or hay. Much more complex than the only other example of Vana tulsi that I've tried.
Brews up a very strong, dark cup relative to the amount of leaf used. The brewed cup has a spicy and very complex aroma, and a piquant (sharp but enjoyable...

A truly artisanal example of this herb. Tastes the closest to the fresh-harvested, home-grown example of this herb than any other one I have bought through a company. Astonishing complexity for Rama Tulsi.
I tried this some time ago, and I think it may not have been terribly fresh; this was a fresh batch which a f...
Houjicha Tea from Mountain Rose Herbs

A nutty and fruity hojicha, subtly aromatic. This is my favorite example of this type of tea yet...which surprises me because it's from China.
The dry leaf looks dark and has a fairly strong roasted aroma, but there's not much roastiness in the aroma of the brewed cup. Instead, I sense mostly nutty and fruity qual...

Strong, unique, and very afforable!
This was an interesting tea, and completely unlike any other Assam I've sampled. The tea it seemed most similar to, to me, was actually a Keemun from Arbor teas, that was also atypical for its style.
I recommend a brief infusion: it infuses quite fast, and I find it tastes bes...

This tea has a slightly smoky, sweet aroma. The tea is kind of dry tasting, but it has a crisp flavor. It's a bit bitter when I brew it strong enough. It tastes kind of like lapsang souching. I added cream and sugar.

This tea is very sweet, so if you aren't a particular fan of sweet teas I wouldn't recommend it. That being said, I love this tea! It smells and tastes delicious. I drink it plain as it really needs no addition. It tastes, as advertised, like vanilla tea. It is especially good when I am having a craving for something d...

An organic tea of very good quality for a very good price!
Loose leaf has a very dark green color and a pungency suggesting fruity, grassy, and herbaceous qualities. The leaf is slow to unfurl and infuses quite slowly.
Upon brewing, the tea is surprisingly light in color and has an aroma equally suggesting of li...

Upon sampling the green rooibos from Mountain Rose Herbs, this became a new favorite for me, and my new preferred source of green rooibos.
Although the dry leaf is light green in color, I found that the flavor of this was more similar to red rooibos than other green rooibos samples. Brews a light orange color.
I...

I wouldn't have thought to make tea out of basil, so it was convenient when I encountered tulsi tea. Pleasant in its taste and strong herbal aroma, Mountain Rose's tulsi is an enjoyable deviation from run-of-the-mill herb teas. You can let it steep for longer than your average green or black tea to relatively little de...
