Picture of Irish Breakfast

Irish Breakfast from Adagio Teas

Style: Irish Breakfast – Region: Blend

85 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 5/5
Jul. 23rd, 2017

This is truly a seamless blend, as Adagio calls it, of their Ceylon Sonata and Assam Melody teas. It stands up well to milk and sugar, but doesn't *need* it as some Irish Breakfast teas do.

Picture of Scottish Breakfast Leaf Tea

Scottish Breakfast Leaf Tea from Taylors of Harrogate

Style: Scottish Breakfast – Region: Blend

60 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 5/5
Jul. 20th, 2017

The aroma of this was unique. It was much smoother than other black teas I've tried (including English and Irish Breakfast teas). The flavor was pretty good, though it really seems to want for milk, cream, or non-dairy milk, as it seemed to be missing something to drink it alone. There was only a bit of bitterness and ...

I've been drinking this tea since seemingly forever. Always preferred it to Lipton. Now that I'm a tea snob maybe I'll try the loose leaf version.

Has a full, rich aroma. Good amber color. Nice, rich flavor. All the flavor of a full leaf with the convenience of a tea bag. I take this along to my favor breakfast place, I enjoy this more than the Lipton the restaurant serves.

Traditional Yerba Mate Tea Bags from Guayaki

Style: Yerba Maté – Region: Blend

70 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 4/5
Jul. 9th, 2017

This is my first time trying yerba mate. To me, the scent reminds me a lot of tobacco, leather, and hay. There's a smoky quality to it that's in the background, which makes sense because this is smoke dried. The taste has something in it that is vaguely reminiscent of bay leaves or willow bark. Perhaps those who consum...

Mint Chocolate Chip Rooibos from Mrs. Robinson's Tea Shop

Style: Flavored Rooibos – Region: Blend

63 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 4/5
Jun. 29th, 2017

Teabag sample thanks to my friend Kate! This was interesting. I didn't like the initial aroma when I started steeping it, but as I steeped it longer I liked it progressively more.

Mint is the dominant quality in the aroma, but it is not domineering the way mint usually can be. The aroma is smooth and creamy. I don't...

English Tea No. 1 from Ahmad Tea

Style: Earl Grey Tea – Region: Blend

74 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 4/5
Jun. 24th, 2017

This bagged tea didn't earn quite as high of a rating as Ahmad's loose-leaf version of English Afternoon, but it was very good. Oodles of bags of this turned up in my pantry in an unmarked tin (my wife likes it, apparently), so I figured to give it a try.

I could taste the bergamot a bit -- not as much as with th...

Earl Grey from Bigelow Tea

Style: Earl Grey Tea – Region: Blend

35 / 100 Aroma: 3/10 Flavor: 2/5 Value: 3/5
Jun. 20th, 2017

This tea isn't really the best, honestly. While compared to stronger earl greys such as twinnings, it just...doesn't cut it. If you're used to drinking stronger teas, you may want to actually brew longer or even add another bag. The citrus taste also felt weird and unnatural, not really blending well with the other fla...

Jun. 12th, 2017

Overall, this wasn't a favorite, but is tolerable if one can either overcome a bothersome aroma, ignore it, or fail to notice in the first place.

Upon reading the side of the unopened bag wrapper, so many thoughts began swirling across my cranium's vast and mostly empty void, including, in about this order,

This tea is a great twist on earl grey tea. There's a strong presence of citrus in this tea which creates a very unique flavor. Though this isn't in any means my favorite tea, it's a great blend to mix up your routine and try something new! I definetly recommend this tea to anyone that is a fan of citrus "which I am no...

Jun. 11th, 2017

To be honest, I didn't personally care for this tea :/ I mean this tea was a great value considering each box contains a whopping 55 bags compared to twinning's 20, but the flavor just wasn't there for me. The taste was rather bitter, but not in a strong and robust way, but almost like pool water. like chlorine. I can ...

Original English Loose Tea from Pickwick Tea

Style: English Breakfast – Region: Blend

7 / 100 Aroma: 2/10 Flavor: 1/5 Value: 5/5
Jun. 9th, 2017

I know I don't like English blend tea, but this tea was very cheap (regular price €1.40 for 100 g, and it was on a 35% discount) and I figured that since it's loose tea I'll have more control, and it might end up tasting decent.

Wrong.
It tastes and smells like any other cheap English blend from flat teabags: sou...

Serenity from Heavenly Tea Leaves

Style: Herbal Tea – Region: Blend

83 / 100 Aroma: 9/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 3/5
May. 27th, 2017

I thought this was an expertly-executed blend, perhaps not aptly named, however. This was the last of four samples my roommate let me try from a sampler pack she got from Heavenly Tea Leaves. It was a nice note to end on!

The smell of the dry leaf is busy, and reminds me a lot of Bigelow's sweet dreams herbal tea,...

May. 26th, 2017

Yet another tea from a sampler that my roommate let me try! I was not a fan.

The leaf looks pretty, but doesn't smell great to me. There's an unpleasant smell, reminiscent of those artificial cheese curl snacks that I absolutely hate. Underneath that, the other smells are light and pleasant, floral and meloney, a...

Thank you to my roommate for letting me try this! Every now and then I try a tea that I don't expect to like, both to expose myself to diifferent tastes, and because I'm open to being surprised. This was one such tea, and in this case, I was not surprised...even though it was okay for what it was, I didn't like it mu...

British Blend - Premium Black Tea from Tetley Tea

Style: Black Tea – Region: Blend

60 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 4/5
May. 6th, 2017

Cutting open a dry teabag, the tea is small pieces of CTC pellets. It smells nice, but generic; the aroma is oak leaves and malt without much complexity.

Adding the water brings out the Assam in the blend. The sour, malty aroma is quite rich. The first taste of the tea is a surprise in that teas that smell like the ...

Style: Black Tea – Region: Blend

47 / 100 Aroma: 4/10 Flavor: 2/5 Value: 4/5
May. 5th, 2017

There's no aroma at all from the dry tea. Upon opening the box for the first time, there's a paper smell that is probably from the teabag material itself.

Tastes like stale, weak tea, but even so, is one of the best decaf blacks.

There's no bitterness or astringency, but there's a little sour vegetal flavor on th...

The teabags smell really nice to me. The heaviest components are orange and clove. Adding water intensifies the aroma and brings out hints of cinnamon and sweet spice (cardamom? nutmeg?) in the background. The orange and spice overpower any recognizable tea aroma.

The flavor is dominated by clove with a taste that r...

A co-worker who is into the natural, herbal-wellness scene offered me a bag of this tea to try, which of course is irresistible when it's something I haven't reviewed in this medium before. Spiced Citrus Nana Mint from Wissotzky

The dry tea is pungent, smelling of both spearmint and peppermint with a hint of cinnamon. Adding water intensifies the aroma without really changing the balance. With the first taste, I realized that this tea is all about the mint. It's definitely high quality; while cheaper mint often tastes of stems and hay, there'...

Apr. 16th, 2017

As the other reviewers stated, this tea lacks the bite of Lipton and other commercial teas. And if you want a solid, strong tea that holds up to milk and sugar, this one is hard to beat. This only seems to be available in two places: at the Mccormick Spice Shop in Baltimore's Inner Harbor and online at a Baltimore gour...

The dry tea is strange-looking. I think it's CTC tea that has been broken up into smaller pieces. Each teabag contains 3g of tea, so expect a strong cup of tea if you're used to American teabags.

Dry, it smells like CTC Assam tea, malty, tannic and slightly smoky. Adding the water opens up the aroma, which is rich a...

Mar. 30th, 2017

This blend was more Keemun-like than anything else; it reminded me of the type of Keemun that I like most, the rich, mellow, warming and slightly sweet sort.

The Dry leaf's aroma reminds me of candy: fruity and sweet, suggesting marzipan, chocolate, and hazelnut cream.

The aroma and character of the Keemun comes ...
