Nutcracker Sweet Black Tea from Celestial Seasonings

Yes, I am ashamed to be drinking a tea so irremediably punny. Yes, I it tastes of vanilla and nutmeg and workhorse black. Yes, I love it. Yes, yes, yes.

Less similar to lemongrass or lemon balm than you would expect from the smell of the dry leaf, which smells almost identical to lemongrass. The brewed tea is mellower, and yet richer, warmer...less fresh tasting, and has an almost bread-like quality in the aroma, sort of yeasty. Sweet and a tiny bit tangy.
The ove...

I'm not a big fan of what I call "Commercial TeaBag Tea" thanks to the tea education I received from my Grandmother; however, when a friend brewed up this tea for me the other day, I was pleasantly surprised. It has a nice peppermint/vanilla taste that holds it's own when drunk straight up, but also with milk and a tou...

This is a cheap green tea in a bag, but for that exact thing you can't beat liptons. The flavour is great. 100 bag box can be had for about $5. Great deal and beats most bagged green tea.

Lemony, tangy, almost like you added lemongrass or lemon flavoring. This was an interesting departure on one of my favorite types of green tea...it's recognizable as the style, but not in the way I expected. No smokiness, but still fresh tasting, although slightly less crisp. Much less bitter and astringent, and doe...

This one just sounded bizarre to me, but when I smelled the dry leaf, it started to make more sense to me, and when I finally tasted it I understood fully! =) It brews a very dark opaque red, just like Rishi describes. The aroma is very complex but in a way I haven't experienced before.
Initially with each sip I n...

Style: Dragon Well (Long Jing) – Region: Anhui, China73 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 3/5
Dec. 17th, 2009
This was a very gentle green tea. Delicate aroma with a hint of toastiness; less grassiness than other dragonwells I've tried. This particular tea is extremely smooth and low in both bitterness and astringency even when I brewed it with water hotter than recommended...I also found it can be brewed much longer than Ri...

Mellow, muted, greener in character for a black tea, but bland. Similar to TD06, Upton's broken-leaf Darjeeling blend, but I don't like it as much; it's less floral and the aroma is weaker overall. I recommend steeping 3 minutes or more, otherwise it's too weak. This tea can acquire some astringency, but not as much...

This is a very mellow tea...aromatic and gentle, somewhat muted. Only a faint suggestion of the fresh herbaceous tones that some Darjeelings have. The aroma is floral and fairly complex, and the cup is light in color and quality, much more like an oolong than a typical black tea. Almost no bitterness, but some astri...

This is pretty tasty. Very spicy, perhaps too many sharp as opposed to sweet notes for my taste. A little expensive but a nice, strong chai.

This tea brews a pink color unlike any other tea I've seen before. Aroma mostly of chamomile, with some other fruit presence...thankfully this tea is not overwhelmingly fruity, but is quite balanced. Tangy without being too sour...a suggestion of sweetness and no bitterness. Pleasant overall.

This is a smooth, full-bodied, flavorful tea. I make this tea everyday with non-dairy creamer (doesn't destroy the anti-oxidants) for my first cup of the day. I haven't had any experience of the tea getting bitter if left to steep too long but it does brew very quickly. This is the #1 tea in England and, in my opinion,...

This is an insanely strong tea. I find the brewing instructions to be way off...following them it's undrinkable. I tried using about half as much leaf and brewing for 1 minute and it was about right. Steep it any longer and it becomes painfully astringent and also quite bitter.
When brewed briefly and with little...

Very smooth flavor, yet tobacco-like in aroma, almost to the point of being harsh. The aroma is also reminiscent of wood, earth, and stone. A strange and rather strong sweetness is present, especially in the aftertaste.
I find Upton's recommendations to be off. I prefer to steep only a few minutes, and use less l...

I bought this tea because it seemed similar to Tazo's Passion tea, which I liked a lot. However, I was rather disappointed. The tea was quite flavorless until I steeped it a LONG time. After that it was ok. Since this is relatively inexpensive, it might be worth it if you are on a tight budget.

Tastes...like lemongrass. There's a fair amount of astringency, which I could do without, but the aroma is wonderful and very strong. I've never had straight lemongrass tea before, although I've enjoyed it when it has been an ingredient in other teas, so it's hard to know what to compare this to...but I like it!

Aroma strongly of wintergreen...almost unbelievable that this is just tea...it tastes almost as if wintergreen oil has been added! Outside of the surprising wintergreen aroma, this tea is dark, robust, and very full. Fairly bitter, astringent, and tannic. The rest of the aroma is typical of a Ceylon.

Dec. 11th, 2009
The benefits of this tea are well-established. This tea is not the most exotic in terms of its aroma, and its slightly musty flavor is an acquired taste. The favor is inferior to an oolong tea in my opinion, but the healthful effects offset this disadvantage. A convenient tea to brew where loose tea is not available...

Definitely recognizable as Darjeeling...fairly smooth, with only some astringency lingering towards the bottom of the cup. Weak aroma, not terribly complex, but pleasant. Much lighter than most of Bigelow's other black teas. This was enjoyable, although noticeably less so than other more pricey Darjeelings I've had ...

Very pepperminty without being overwhelmingly so. Rich, full-bodied, but with less of the leafy aroma that some dried peppermint teas have. Smooth flavor, no sourness. I think this is among the better of Lipton's herbal offerings. The only thing lacking is the complexity of the aroma...I like mint teas that have a ...

I have tried a number of the Harney and Sons teas and this one is by far my favorite. The smell that emanates from your cup will capture your thoughts, having you thinking about sitting in front of a fireplace on a snowy night.
The tea has a delicious flavor and is so warming from the inside out.
