Green Tea from Twinings

Style: Sencha – Region: ?????

23 / 100 Aroma: 2/10 Flavor: 1/5 Value: 1/5
Dec. 7th, 2009

I was disappointed by this one, and this is my least favorite tea from Twinings yet. If you brew it with boiling water, it's very astringent. With water at a lower temperature, it's not flavorful enough. The aroma is muddled...this tea, unfortunately, seems to have acquired the worst aspects of a Sencha without the ...

Lively Lemon Green Tea (Classic Lemon) from Salada

Style: Green Tea with Lemon – Region: ?????

40 / 100 Aroma: 4/10 Flavor: 1/5 Value: 3/5
Dec. 7th, 2009

Tangy, lemony, almost peppery...more like lemon peel than other forms of lemon. Some tea presence but the tea is overpowered by the lemon.

Quietly Chamomile Herbal Tea from Lipton Tea

Style: Chamomile Blend – Region: ?????

37 / 100 Aroma: 4/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 2/5
Dec. 6th, 2009

This tastes less like Chamomile than any other teas labeled as "chamomile" that I've tried. Fairly sour and a bit muddled aroma. All of Lipton's herbal teas taste very similar to me; this one has a very noticeable orange presence and seems most similar to their orange herbal tea. While this is a perfectly drinkable ...

Mango Passionfruit Herbal Tea from Stash Tea

Style: Fruit (Herbal) Tea – Region: ?????

57 / 100 Aroma: 5/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 4/5
Dec. 6th, 2009

Strange and unusual; not overwhelmingly fruity, and very rich and full-bodied. A yeasty quality in the aroma, reminiscent of beer or bread. Thankfully, not too sour. I'm still not sure how much I like it, but it's different from any other fruit herbal tea I've tried so far...people who want something richer than the...

Earl Grey from Pickwick Tea

Style: Earl Grey Tea – Region: ?????

53 / 100 Aroma: 5/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 3/5
Nov. 28th, 2009

A bold and sharp Earl Grey. Very strong bergamot presence, which I like! The black tea also has some complexity to it, although it quickly becomes very bitter and astringent, so I recommend brewing briefly. I was surprised at the quality of this tea.

Earl Grey from Twinings

Style: Earl Grey Tea – Region: ?????

47 / 100 Aroma: 4/10 Flavor: 2/5 Value: 3/5
Nov. 28th, 2009

I've had this both loose and in teabags, and while it's definitely a lot better loose, it still tastes more or less like the same tea. I've always found Twinings' rendition of Earl Grey to be one of the more muted ones...both in the black tea and the bergamot. It has less bite than I'd expect, and is a bit more mello...

Orange Herbal Tea from Lipton Tea

Style: Herbal Tea – Region: ?????

47 / 100 Aroma: 4/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 3/5
Nov. 19th, 2009

Very similar in character to Bigelow's orange and spice, but significantly more subdued. There's a fair amount of spice in the aroma, and thankfully, not too much cinnamon. A balanced tea. But I prefer Bigelow's because it is more powerful and aromatic.

Ginger Twist Herbal Tea from Lipton Tea

Style: Herbal Tea – Region: ?????

37 / 100 Aroma: 3/10 Flavor: 2/5 Value: 2/5
Nov. 17th, 2009

Very mild, with not much ginger flavor. Brews an orangish color. Light, kind of relaxing. Has about as much ginger as Celestial Seasoning's Tension Tamer, and actually tastes oddly similar to that tea except without the bitterness and with less kick and less earthiness. Pleasant, but too weak for me.

Earl Greyer from Republic of Tea

Style: Earl Grey Tea – Region: ?????

63 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 4/5
Nov. 10th, 2009

This is among my favorite teas from Republic of tea, and also the strongest tasting of their teas that I have tried. The bergamot is not totally overpowering...and unlike other flavored black teas from this company I find there's a stronger black tea presence in the aroma.

My only complaint is that this tea becomes...

Xue Ya Ballad from Adagio Teas

Style: Snow Buds – Region: ?????

73 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 4/5
Nov. 5th, 2009

This is my favorite tea from Adagio so far. When brewed as recommended this tea is very light with a sweetness and some fruity tones. But I found it too thin this way.

I like brewing it much longer (8+ minutes) and with slightly warmer water (190-ish)...it comes out much stronger and more interesting...more grassy...

43 / 100 Aroma: 4/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 2/5

Aroma of spearmint and little else; disappointing after Stash's other flavored teas which have a bolder tea presence. The spearmint is very smooth and candy-like, but overall this tea is weak, especially in comparison to Stash's other offerings.

There is a little bitterness which was the only hint of green tea pres...

Breathe Deep from Yogi Tea

67 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 3/5
Nov. 1st, 2009

Smooth, naturally sweet, with licorice dominating the aroma, and a fair amount of mintiness present. Mellower than I expected for a tea with mint and eucalyptus. Soothing.

I imagine this one would also be good for a sore throat, as it seems to sooth irritation in addition to clearing your head. It also tastes pre...

Style: Wellness Tea / Medicinal Tea – Region: ?????

47 / 100 Aroma: 4/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 3/5
Oct. 29th, 2009

A gentle and mild herbal tea. Brews an orange color. A hint of sourness but not too much, and not much bitterness either. None of the aromas dominate. In spite of the main ingredient being mint, I don't notice the mint all that much...pretty mellow.

The spices actually blend pretty well and in spite of the artificial flavoring, this tea is much more natural tasting than I had expected. No noticeable tea aroma, just vanilla and some spice. Creamy and smooth.

I would appreciate a stronger tea presence and perhaps more spice.

English Teatime from Bigelow Tea

Aroma is mellow, warm, and keemun-like. But this tea is much more bitter and astringent than most keemuns--unpleasantly so. The bitterness sinks to the bottom of the cup, leaving an unpleasant surprise ending to a tea that starts out very smooth.

I recommend brewing this one briefly, only a minute or two, for best...

Lemon Lift Black Tea from Bigelow Tea

Oct. 18th, 2009

One thing I love about this tea is that it's lemony without being sour, which is something you cannot achieve by squeezing a lemon into your black tea.

I don't really notice the spice that much, but that's ok with me. The black tea is weak and nondescript. I would appreciate a richer and more complex aroma to the ...

I swear this tastes like it has a significant amount of pu-erh in it...it has that earthy, dust-like quality to it. I never used to like lipton's decaf until I started liking pu-erh and then my appreciation of it increased slightly--but only very slightly. It really could be a lot more bland than it is. But it's sti...

I find this is among the better of the chamomiles you can buy in any supermarket, and also among the better Bigelow teas. Although the aroma is a bit weaker than some other brands, the aftertaste is cleaner and more pleasant. Very smooth flavor.

Jasmine Green Tea from Bigelow Tea

50 / 100 Aroma: 3/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 3/5
Oct. 18th, 2009

The floral scent is much weaker than in some Jasmines but it's pleasant; this is a very smooth tea, without the bitterness or astringency that plagues many of the cheaper teabag Jasmines. My only complaint is that I wish the aroma were overall stronger, both of the tea and the Jasmine.

Cinnamon Apple Herbal Tea from Bigelow Tea

Aroma mostly of apple, with some cinnamon. Unlike the other Bigelow herbal teas, this tea is only good for a single infusion, after which it loses nearly all its flavor. If you like apples you may like this one but it doesn't really do much for me...it seems a bit thin.

True to the name, the aroma of orange and spice--is it cloves I notice? Thankfully, not much cinnamon, and not too sour. This is not my favorite of the Bigelow herbal teas but it is among the ones I prefer.

In many respects this tea is like an herbal version of Constant Comment. The main difference is that this b...

Mint Medley® Herbal Tea from Bigelow Tea

Aroma is dominantly peppermint, the spearmint isn't really that noticeable. There are a few other non-mint things noticeable; I'd prefer this tea just use mint, and go a little lighter on the peppermint; this comes across as too similar to a pure peppermint tea for my tastes, and if I want that, I'd rather drink a tea...
