Cheap Darjeeling? How is this possible? I am a first flush Darjeeling kinda gal and Twinings actual makes a (definitely not first flush, but good enough)bagged Darjeeling that is CHEAP and easy to find. AI can't even believe my office is stocking this - and a also Irish and English Breakfast, Earl Grey, Orange & Spi...

Darjeeling Black Tea from Bigelow Tea

Style: Darjeeling Black Tea – Region: Darjeeling, India

Jan. 10th, 2019

The dry tea has the same basic smell of other blended Darjeelings. It's smells of dry leaves in autumn, a bit oaky and of raw pecans.

I tend to find Darjeeling teas to be somewhat more delicate than I'd prefer. This one is no exception, but I also wouldn't call it weak. It's lightly astringent with a very mild bitte...

Oct. 25th, 2018

A tricky-to-brew tea that reminded me a lot of green oolongs from Taiwan, and required a lower water temperature to brew to satisfaction.

The dry leaf, quite broken, is an intense green color, like a lot of good Darjeeling first flush. It looks exactly like pictured in the company photo (I appreciate honest photogra...

Seeyok First Flush Darjeeling from Coffee and Tea Exchange

Style: Darjeeling First Flush – Region: Darjeeling, India

88 / 100 Aroma: 9/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 5/5
Sep. 18th, 2018

With the most prominent notes being pineapple, cranberry, and lemongrass, this tea is almost like drinking tart fruit juice. I love it because of that, but I can see others disliking it for the same reason. I taste a bit of honey as well. First flush is stereotyped as floral, but I don't get a lot of that here. There a...

This actually tastes like Darjeeling: the fruity, woody notes are similar to the loose leaf Darjeeling teas I've had, and it even has that smooth muscatel flavor (or at least the flavor I taste in most Darjeeling tea that I associate with the word "muscatel"). I guess this shouldn't have surprised me as much as it did...

Jul. 18th, 2018

Lipton Darjeeling Tea used to be known as "Lipton Green Label" and is packaged for sale in India. I buy this tea as a gray market item at a local Indian convenience store.

This tea is better quality than one might expect from Lipton and is overall a medium-quality Darjeeling. The tea appears to be mostly whole, smal...

The tea is made up of large, but broken pieces of leaf. The description says that the tea is graded TGFOP (Tippy Golden Flowery Orange Pekoe), though, which should be mostly whole leaves. There is a reasonable proportion of tips, so it is decent quality tea, but not as good as I expected from the description or the pri...

It's fine. It's just not for me. "Darjeeling" (where'd they come up with that name??) won't commit to woody, smoky, or neither. It's a little of each, and I like tea's that COMMIT to certain flavors... It's not distinctive enough, my friends. It just isn't, friends.

I will likely revise this review after a few more times trying this tea. It seems high quality with a grassy quality, but I can’t decide how I feel about the bitter undertones. I generally am not a fan of bitter teas. To be fair, it might be a fault of my brewing. I do overall enjoy this tea, though, so long as it is...

I remember vividly the impression of black tea I first tried at my host family's home in England where I had studied English for several months. It was one rainy morning in the last flight of April in 2014 and I have since been a tea enthusiast. I still don't know what sort of tea that was - it might be English breakfa...

Jul. 23rd, 2017

A lifelong fan of traditional black Darjeelings, I was intrigued by the idea of a Darjeeling oolong. Directions called for steeping 2 heaping teaspoons per cup, 212F/100C, 3-4 minutes. I went with 4 level teaspoons (3 grams) per 8 fluid ounces, 212F/100C, 4 minutes. I liked the fruity-floral flavor and expect that fans...

I liked this one a lot, much more than typical for white teas.

I normally don't like tippy white teas, but I was super impressed by what may be this same exact same tea, or at least a similar one, sold by Golden Tips Tea. Unfortunately, this tea is no longer in stock at either company! It is worth waiting for this...

May. 22nd, 2017

I thought this was an excellent second flush Darjeeling, with a fresher and cooler aroma than average, and surprising strength that allowed the leaf to stretch very far. A tea that I like to savor very slowly, not something for if you're in a hurry.

Thank you to Mighty Leaf for this generous sample!

I love the s...

This is a very dark Darjeeling. I enjoyed it as a change of pace; most high-end tea companies tend to sell lighter Darjeelings but sometimes I like the darker ones. Even though I often prefer the flavor of the lighter teas, I tend to feel better after drinking the darker ones, and this was no exception.

The dry le...

Darjeeling from Twinings

Style: Darjeeling Black Tea – Region: Darjeeling, India

60 / 100 Aroma: 5/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 4/5
May. 15th, 2017

The tea has a weak aroma, both before and after steeping. It has a vegetal smell without much complexity, like cut grass or sugarcane. The aroma has a sweetness to it, but again, not as complex as other Darjeeling blends.

The flavor is more complex than I expected based on both the aroma and experience with Twinings...

Apr. 2nd, 2017

Was offered NOVUS teas (by Bigeow) at a restaurant - comes in a silky sachet, wrapped in a sealed pouch. Very fresh tasting and deep, dark (much darker than other Darjeelings I have had) and steeped up quickly. I got 2 infusions from the bag in a large pot of water.

I am a Darjeeling drinker, so I was fine with ...

This tea seems strong and tannic for a Darjeeling. It smells nice, but brews very strong very rapidly. I drink it with honey, though I rarely add sweetener to any tea because i usually prefer tea without sweeteners. I bought the loose leaf tea, and used about 2.5 TBSP for a 30 oz pot. My suggestion would be to und...

Sep. 28th, 2016

I loved this one.

No picture of this because unfortunately it was removed from Harney's catalogue before I posted my review.

The dry leaf of this smells wonderful, and unexpected. It smells more like an autumnal flush tea, with more malty notes and a sort of soft, rich, caramel smell. There are floral and caram...

This was served to me at a wedding and I was able to take a few different tea bags to try them later. I was surprised at the quality of this one.

I LOVE Darjeeling - and next to a jasmine green, a darjeeling is the PERFECT cup for me - especially in the AM. That said, Republic's loose version is a terrific value. Can't guarantee that it is first flush - but it is a very good value and I enjoy this one and have purchased it twice ($13 for a tin). Now comes in ...

With Tea Forte you are paying for cutesy packaging - and these are terrific for gift giving - hostess gifts, bridal showers etc. The tea itself is usually good but not mind blowing and their "estate" darjeeling is good. Style: Darjeeling Autumnal Flush – Region: Darjeeling, India

80 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 4/5
Feb. 16th, 2016

This tea is subtly different from other Darjeelings. The leaf is big and looks more like a Wuyi oolong than anything from Darjeeling. The aroma is rich and deep, notes of caramel and malt, a hint of the characteristic fruity/floral/vegetal notes, more typical for an autumnal flush Darjeeling.

Upon pouring the wate...
