Silver Buds Yabao from Verdant Tea
Style: White Tea – Region: Yunnan, China97 / 100 Aroma: 10/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 4/5
Jan. 7th, 2014
The aroma is crisp and clean with notes of cedar and pine with tones of pepper and sage. Once brewed the tea becomes more herbaceous with strong hints of sage and basil, there are notes of pine resin and sweetness of freshly tapped tree sap.
The tea's flavor reminds me of the way that a winter forest smells. It is ...

Premium Peony White Tea (100% Organic) from Prince of Peace
Style: White Peony Tea – Region: Fujian, China53 / 100 Aroma: 3/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 4/5
Dec. 30th, 2013
A pleasant, full-bodied tea, but aromatically weak and not very interesting. Not as aromatic as Ten Ren's white tea, which remains my favorite white tea from a tea bag. Smells very mild, mostly of caramel, very faintly floral.
Flavor is subdued: not very bitter. Just the right amount of astringency: smooth, even ...

White Night from Mandala Tea
Style: White Tea – Region: Simao, Yunnan, China83 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 4/5
Dec. 29th, 2013
This was among the most interesting of the white teas I've tried, although more familiar and similar to typical white teas than moonlight white. E. Alex Gerster called this tea "sturdy" and I like that; I also want to thank him for providing me with this sample.
Dry leaf has a peculiar aroma, like caramel and overr...

Organic Silver Needle White Tea from Wegmans
Style: Silver Needle – Region: China63 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 3/5
Dec. 12th, 2013
Silver Needle Tea can be extremely fickle to brew and very subtle in flavor and aroma. It is typically a very mild and smooth tea, and this sample of Wegman's was very much in character.
Brief steepings at about 190 degrees produced a weak aroma, and yet nice flavor of sweet grass with a touch of melon. For a first ...

White Night from Mandala Tea
Style: White Tea – Region: Simao, Yunnan, China83 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 4/5
Sep. 13th, 2013
Recently was able to restock my supply of this wonderful tea, after enjoying it on and off for the past two years. It is quite unique for a white tea, with light flavors and subtle complexities that change as the tea ages. Added a link to the Steepster page where I have added a few notes on this one. A "sturdy" white t...

Organic Silver Needle White Tea from Wegmans
Style: Silver Needle – Region: China53 / 100 Aroma: 5/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 3/5
Sep. 13th, 2013
I'm not a huge fan of silver needle; I thought this was above average for its type but I would still strongly prefer other teas, even other white teas, both because of price and characteristics of the cup.
Dry leaf, consisting exclusively of whole, intact tips, has a melony aroma with a slight hint of caramel, but i...

Bai Mu Dan White Tea from Arbor Teas
Style: White Peony Tea – Region: Fujian, China93 / 100 Aroma: 9/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 5/5
Jun. 7th, 2013
This may be tied with TeaVivre for my favorite white peony--yet the two teas are like day and night. TeaVivre's is so light, and I found this to be rich, full-bodied, and dark. Pleasing and unusually strong for a white tea.
Broken leaf has a highly heterogeneous appearance, with small whole leaves, large broken pi...

Shoumei White Tea from Foojoy
Style: Shou Mei White Tea – Region: China67 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 5/5
May. 28th, 2013
I love shou mei, a darker white tea, and I love Foojoy, so I was expecting to like this one, and I did. It's remarkably high quality for such an inexpensive tea bag. The only shou mei I've tried in tea bags.
This tea is surprisingly pungent, with the characteristic aroma of autumn leaves, and a hint of spice and p...

White Peony (Bai Mu Dan) from Two Leaves and a Bud
Style: White Peony Tea – Region: Fujian, China73 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 4/5
May. 16th, 2013
I had this at a day spa and loved it - so I actually bought a box of the bags. Took me a while to get through but I really like the floral, green and "stemmy" notes of this conveniently bagged tea. Smells great.

Delicious but pricey this light tea is great both hot or over ice. If you are ever in Philly visit STEAP. It's a great tea shop and the lady who owns it is really knowledgeable.

Organic White Tea from Lotus Leaf Tea
Style: White Peony Tea – Region: China80 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 4/5
Apr. 15th, 2013
I normally like white peony tea more than silver needle because it is richer and darker. Judging by the appearance of the leaf, I would expect this tea to be lighter in color and flavor.
But I found this tea to be very dark and rich in flavor when brewed. Aroma is strongly fruity, a characteristic I don't usually ...

Organic Pai Mu Tan White Peony from Wegmans
Style: White Peony Tea – Region: China87 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 5/5
Apr. 3rd, 2013
A top-notch white tea for a very low price: $30 a pound for a white tea that is organic certified and is among the better examples of this style of tea that I've sampled.
I found this tea was on the light side for pai mu tan or white peony tea, both by color and flavor, but it was still pleasant and flavorful.

Organic White Peony (Bai MuDan) Tea from TeaVivre
Style: White Peony Tea – Region: Fuding, Fujian, China60 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 3/5
Mar. 14th, 2013
This tea is very light and a bit floral. It tastes a bit like a watered down green tea. It is definitely not bitter, and not very sour or really even sweet. It is not at all astringent.
It when brewed for about 2 minutes, it produced a pale amber color. I brewed it a second time, for much longer, and it was a littl...

Organic Silver Needle White Tea (Bai Hao Yin Zhen) from TeaVivre
Style: Silver Needle – Region: Fujian, China57 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 2/5
Mar. 5th, 2013
I found this to be a finicky tea which required care in brewing and which I was not always in the mood to enjoy. To be fair, I tend not to be a huge fan of silver needle, but even then this was not my favorite example of such a tea. Contrast this with TeaVivre's white peony, which I thought was one of the best exampl...

Organic Silver Needle White Tea (Bai Hao Yin Zhen) from TeaVivre
Style: Silver Needle – Region: Fujian, China87 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 4/5
Feb. 25th, 2013
This tea is mild and almost a little sweet, with some cucumber notes. Someone who is new to tea or expanding their tastes might find this tea easy to drink with no added sugar. I brewed it as directed, for about 2 minutes, and was satisfied with the results. I am not very familiar with white teas, but I enjoyed this on...

Organic White Peony (Bai MuDan) Tea from TeaVivre
Style: White Peony Tea – Region: Fuding, Fujian, China93 / 100 Aroma: 9/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 5/5
Feb. 25th, 2013
The most aromatic white peony I've sampled yet.
Dry leaf looks much lighter and with more downy tips than usual for this type of tea. Aroma of the dry leaf is intensely floral and delicate, with melon-like tones that I normally only encounter in silver needle.
When brewed as recommended, there is only a hint of ...

Organic Pai Mu Tan White Peony from Wegmans
Style: White Peony Tea – Region: China60 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 3/5
Feb. 11th, 2013
This tea is pretty good. It turned out really light-colored when I first brewed it, compared to other white peony teas. It also took a long time. It's pretty flavorful - it has a nice sweet flavor, but it doesn't have the same intensity to it as the Prince of Peace tea that I always drink. I don't like it as much. I ad...

Organic Silver Needle White Tea (Bai Hao Yin Zhen) from TeaVivre
Style: Silver Needle – Region: Fujian, China80 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 4/5
Feb. 1st, 2013
This tea was wonderful as a complete, sensual experience. The leaves are light and elegantly pointed, covered in fuzzy silver-white hairs. They didn't smell like much when it was dry, straight out of the package. It was a bit nutty and a bit floral, maybe. But once I had brewed them the leaves gave off a completely une...

I don't like this tea as much as the white peony that I usually drink (Prince of Peace) because it tastes greener, and I don't like green tea. It's also more expensive. I added cream and sugar.

White Tea from Ten Ren Tea
Style: White Tea – Region: Fujian, China63 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 4/5
Jul. 3rd, 2012
Normally I don't have tea with my breakfast, but I decided to try it out with a cup of Ten Ren White Tea this morning. It had a mild and smooth taste, with only a slight hint of bitterness after drinking. While I normally prefer water I juice in the morning, I thought this tea was refreshing and would have it with bre...

White Pearl from Simpson & Vail
Style: White Tea – Region: Fujian, China67 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 2/5
Jun. 27th, 2012
Smallish pearls unfurl to olive-colored leaf with lots of tip. Tea seems much more oxidized than normal for a tippy white tea.
I did not like the steeping recommendations; the cup came out quite bland when steeped this way, but this is always true for me of delicate white teas, like silver needle and others. I fo...

Pai Mu Tan from Novus Tea
Style: White Peony Tea – Region: China77 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 4/5
Jun. 6th, 2012
This tea had a light, slightly floral, aroma and a nice light taste to accompany it. Overall I thought this tea was refreshing and would drink it again.

Snow LeopardĀ® from Peet's Coffee and Tea (Peets)
Style: White Tea – Region: Fujian, China60 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 3/5
May. 22nd, 2012
Snow Leopard is a white tea though its aroma and flavor seem very close to green tea.
The predominant flavor is one of light grassiness while the taste on the back of the tongue and the finish have a pleasing but very subtle fruitiness.

Bai Mu Dan from Little Red Cup
Style: White Peony Tea – Region: Wuyuan, Jiangxi, China97 / 100 Aroma: 9/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 5/5
May. 10th, 2012
I love white tea. I've had countless varieties. Bai mudan has never been my favorite. In my experience, it never matched up to bai hao yinzhen. This particular bai mudan compltely revolutionized my view.
The taste is just as pure as any yinzhen, but much sweeter. You won't need sugar, honey, or even a stevia leaf fo...

White Peony (Bai Mu Dan) from Two Leaves and a Bud
Style: White Peony Tea – Region: Fujian, China73 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 3/5
Apr. 17th, 2012
I really enjoyed the floral scent of this tea and its taste. Its flavor was rich, smooth, and full, with an imperceptible aftertaste. It brewed a dark-amber color. This is one of the better teas I've tried from Two Leaves and Bud and I will definitely be drinking it again!
