Green Tea with Jasmine Tea Bags from Taylors of Harrogate
Style: Jasmine Pearls – Region: China95 / 100 Aroma: 10/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 5/5
Jan. 9th, 2021
This is remarkable for a bagged tea. I tend to expect a mediocre tea in certain kinds of bagged tea. As a general rule, I think the delicacy flavors of jasmine green tea is a challenge to get right if it isn’t loose leaf or tea pearls, but this is an impressive cup. I managed to get two cups out of it. while the seco...

I find it a bit weird, but I often like the taste of a good decaf better than the taste of the same regularly caffeinated drink. They can have a nice savory mouthfeel without bitterness.
This decaf is solid, especially for a teabag. For those expressly wanting a non-caffeinated bag tea, this is a strong choice!
English Breakfast Tea Bags from Taylors of Harrogate
Style: English Breakfast – Region: Blend85 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 4/5

This tea is pretty good for a bagged tea. The flavor is strong. Just don’t oversteep it, or it will become bitter. I brewed it for four minutes and that worked well.
Also, I usually prefer my tea plain, but this one was tastier and more satisfying with a bit of milk added. I could definitely see someone using a te...
Assam Tea Bags from Taylors of Harrogate
Style: Assam – Region: Assam, India73 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 4/5

Taylor's has/had a "Pure Assam". Does the absence of that adjective here make this one "impure" by default? :-)
Seriously, I don't know if "Assam Tea" is the same as "Pure Assam", repackaged and rebranded, or a parallel offering. It has been a few years since I tried and reviewed "Pure Assam", so I can't compare...
Assam Tea Bags from Taylors of Harrogate
Style: Assam – Region: Assam, India68 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 4/5
May. 4th, 2020
The dry tea has almost no odor at all. The teabag smells slightly woody, which could either be from the tea or the paper. The tea looks to be CTC pellets that were ground up further. I wonder if the "Pure Assam" that this tea seems to have replaced was orthodox tea and that's the difference.
This tea smells tannic a...
English Breakfast Tea Bags from Taylors of Harrogate
Style: English Breakfast – Region: Blend72 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 4/5

Each bag contains 2.5g of what looks like ground up CTC pellets. There's very little scent from the dry tea. It smells faintly woody, like a new newspaper.
This tea brews up dark. Before I've finished pouring the water, the tea is already darker than most black teas end up. By the time brewing's done, it's a deep br...
Earl Grey Tea Bags from Taylors of Harrogate
Style: Earl Grey Tea – Region: Blend87 / 100 Aroma: 9/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 4/5

Let’s be honest, you probably know what Earl Grey tastes like.
How does this iteration stack up? Splendidly.
Bagged, 10oz, 5:30 steep time. This particular steep was perfect, with distinct black tea through the sip and a bergamot rushing in to match it.
I used to drink Twining’s Earl Grey by the box. It got ...

At the moment I'm just sipping that tea! It's fresh, you clearly can taste lemon and orange, it smells good, the perfect tea for any time of the day. It has a pleasant colour and a great aftertaste too. If you like the combination of lemon and orange you definitely should try this tea!

Dry, this tea smells like a Lipton teabag, which is potentially promising. I've yet to find a decaffeinated black tea that actually tastes like tea.
After adding water, a hint of earthiness comes through. The dominant aroma is the same wet paper smell that I now realize is a hallmark of decaffeinated black tea. The ...
Lemon & Orange Tea Bags from Taylors of Harrogate
Style: Fruit Black Tea – Region: Blend48 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 2/5 Value: 2/5

The tea in the bags is in small enough pieces that it's difficult to tell if it started out orthodox or CTC, but I think it's orthodox. It smells pleasently lemon-orange, but no tea shines through yet. After adding the water, the tea smells like fresh orange pulp. The tea itself is muted with the barest hint of malt ri...

The dry tea is chopped up quite fine. It looks like a typical Darjeeling, having a range of colors from light green to a dark brown, indicating a range of oxidations. Taylor's puts 2.5 grams of tea in their bags, splitting the difference between the typical American 2 grams and the 3 grams of many English bagged teas.

Organic Chamomile Tea Bags from Taylors of Harrogate
Style: Pure Chamomile Tea – Region: ?????95 / 100 Aroma: 10/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 4/5

This is good quality chamomile. After opening the heavy paper and foil pouch, the dry teabag has a much richer aroma than most chamomile that I've had. The contents of the teabag looks ground up and entirely flower parts with no stems or leaves.
It brews up a deep gold with a slight greenish hue. The aroma of the li...

Thanks to Greg and Inge for this Christmas gift. A malty and complex Assam that feels very nice on the palate. This went very well with soy milk, which is not what always happens when I add soy milk. A treat for sure.

A second-flush season black tea, this comes from the Brahmaputra valley. Light liquor with a moderate aroma and flavor. I found this tea to be a little too subtle and shy.

I found this expired tea tin, never opened and safely sealed, in a small import store when I was home over break. Knowing how well Assam teas can keep, I was curious to try it, and I was pleasantly surprised to find this tea much more aromatic than I would expect for something harvested around 4 years ago.

To be honest, I didn't personally care for this tea :/ I mean this tea was a great value considering each box contains a whopping 55 bags compared to twinning's 20, but the flavor just wasn't there for me. The taste was rather bitter, but not in a strong and robust way, but almost like pool water. like chlorine. I can ...

This tea seems strong and tannic for a Darjeeling. It smells nice, but brews very strong very rapidly. I drink it with honey, though I rarely add sweetener to any tea because i usually prefer tea without sweeteners. I bought the loose leaf tea, and used about 2.5 TBSP for a 30 oz pot. My suggestion would be to und...

This will work. My wife ordered this brand on sale when her usual Assam ran out, and likes it--bearing a more delicate palate than I, she coerces 3 cups from a bag. As with most bagged teas, I drop one in a bigger cup, and steep for more than 5 minutes while occasionally stirring and swishing the bag around with a sp...

I adore this tea. I've been drinking brands found in America and sampling specialty teas for years. I tried this at a conference two years ago and was floored. I'd never tasted tea with such bold, fruity flavor. I can't go back to other teas. I've found perfection.

Nice aroma, but a delicate tea, if you add a bit too much water. And as mentioned by earlier reviewer, loses that flavour if not kept sealed.

Very good Lapsang Souchong tea with a pronounced smokey aroma that along with the black tea base results in a very umami tea. Goes great with a hearty breakfast. I brew mine in an 8 oz teacup for 5 minutes and serve with a teaspoon of honey.

This is my favorite Earl Grey tea. Well balanced Bergamot flavor. Nice large tea bags w/o strings. It is hard to come by in the U.S. and is not hermetically sealed so the quality varies depending on how the tea is stored. My recent mail-order from Amazon was a disappointment even though the expire date is 18 mo. awa...

The tea fell short for me. Aroma was great, but taste was flat. I steeped for 8 minutes to try and bring out full flavor, but no luck. I like a more full bodied tea, and one that I can feel pleasantly leeching into every nook and cranny. This tea didnt do that. Extremely light, and probably low in caffeine content as w...

There's nothing subtle about this. Taylor's Scottish Breakfast is a stonkingly big, powerful brew which packs a wallop. An Assam and African blend, the malty Assam is right at the forefront and the African side of things is probably Kenyan, so the whole blend is a very malty affair. It also has a sizeable caffeine hit,...
