Bi Luo Chun from Teasenz

Lovely seaweedy and nutty flavour. The tea leaves are very delicate and when steeped they show a nice vibrant green colour. Due to the small leaves the flavour releases quickly. I steeped 5 grams of this tea in a gaiwan for 10 seconds for the first 3 steeps and afterwards I increased it gradually. Could enjoy around 12...

Jasmine Dragon Pearls from Teasenz

85 / 100 Aroma: 10/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 4/5
Jun. 24th, 2023

A very fragrant tea and consists of tea leaves and a fair amount of buds. The jasmine aroma balances well with the green tea base. The tea soup has a nice creamy texture. The value is decent, there are cheaper jasmine teas out there, but not at such quality.

Nanjing Yu Hua Cha from Teasenz

Style: Green Tea – Region: Jiangsu, China

95 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 5/5
Jun. 24th, 2023

Steeped 5 gram of this green tea at 85ºC for 10 seconds in a gaiwan for the first 3 steeps, and afterwards, I gradually increased the steeping time by 5 seconds per steep. Unlike like green teas such as maofeng and anjibai, this green tea is savoury and robust with sweet, nutty, and vegetal notes. Excellent value for ...

Jun. 6th, 2023

I bought a box of 25 tea bags in an Asian grocery store. The bags are individually sealed in foil and filled with finely chopped pieces of tea. Upon opening the foil pouch, the tea smells recognizably as a roasted oolong.

The brewed tea is unremarkable, but it tastes quite nice. It has a mild bitterness that is bala...

Organic Pineapple Passion Green Tea from Arbor Teas

Style: Flavored Green Tea – Region: China

65 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 3/5
May. 5th, 2023

A mild, fruity green tea. The pineapple comes thru clearly, but I was not picking up much maracuja. Nice aroma of citrus and calendula flowers. On screen this seems like it would be a good iced tea, but my guess is it is not robust enough. This could use a little more uumph, but it is a perfectly pleasant tea.

Organic Citrus Ginger Green from Arbor Teas

Style: Flavored Green Tea – Region: China

85 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 5/5
May. 3rd, 2023

I am very pleased with this ginger-citrus flavored Sencha by Arbor. Made with all organic and natural ingredients (tea, orange peel, ginger, calendula petals, natural flavors), it has a pleasant flavor and a nice citrus aroma. The ginger dominates the taste, but it is well complimented by the flavor of fresh oranges,...

The flavor of this is pleasant and mellow, with raspberry coming through clearly and blending nicely with the base tea. It does not taste fake or overly aggressive. The aroma is quite enjoyable, with noticeable raspberry and no off notes. Very nice.

Solid decaf bagged green tea. Though I like caffeination, I have found I actually often like decaf teas for their flavor.

Menghai Tiger ripe Pu-erh. from Yunnan Sourcing

Style: Pu-erh Tea – Region: China

80 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 5/5
Mar. 10th, 2023

Note: this was a sample included with my order. Aroma is as expected earthy/muddy strong. The liquor (5 min steep) is a very dark brown, with some purple. I would say classic Pu-erh smell. Strong boarding on dank. The taste is enjoyable and lingers on the palate. Interesting enough for me to want to investigate Pu-erh ...

Spring 2022. "Classic" Yunnan aroma. mild, nothing distinctive. Liquor (5 min steep, using the Breville tea machine) is a nice brown with a slight gold tinge. Tasty, great for sipping. PS: The leaves are long. I might have used less tea than actually needed for a full 6 cup pot. Next pot I will crush the leaves into sm...

Aged Puerh Tea Brick from Numi Organic Tea

44 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 2/5 Value: 3/5
Feb. 12th, 2023

So, I am going to generalize with this review as there is not a lot going with this offering from Numi.

After breaking the first bar piece off I actually put this in the back of my cupboard, a few years later it has resurfaced, and I decided to give it a go.

No matter the water temp, steep time, serving temp (hot...

Oolong Se Chung from Upton Tea Imports

Style: Se Chung Oolong – Region: China

65 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 4/5
Jan. 17th, 2023

This is a nice, mellow oolong, and comes in at a very attractive price. There is nothing attention-grabbing about it; it is just a good tea. The aroma hints at woodlands and hay, and the flavor offers more of the same, with a dash of minerally tannins and vegetal notes. It is fairly light on the palate, and goes dow...

I tried this tea right when I ordered it, but did not like it. It had few objectionable qualities, and was actually quite smooth, but simply seemed a little boring. However, I set it in my cupboard for quite some time and sure enough, it has started tasting more interesting after about a year and a half. Still, it is n...

This tea is really aromatic and smells toasty and bready. It tastes how it smells however it’s just a bit too astringent for my taste but it definitely isn’t the worst and overall it’s a high quality tea, I’m just personally sensitive to astringency.

This is my first black tea that I've ever tried from Wuyuan county; prior to this I have only had green teas, which I've tended to like.

The dry leaf has a fine texture and looks slightly greyish with reddish highlights. It has a pleasing aroma that strongly resembles the lighter examples of Keemun, but is rather di...

Style: Green Tea – Region: Shuangjiang, Yunnan, China

50 / 100 Aroma: 4/10 Flavor: 2/5 Value: 2/5
Nov. 20th, 2022

Not my favorite tea. A little bit soapy and bitter tasting and there wasn’t much interesting stuff going on to redeem it. The aroma was really weak too so overall not worth it for me. I’m giving it a 50 because it’s not that great but it’s also like not too horrible. I wouldn’t buy it again though.

Cup at home, made from small, coiled, curly leaves of Chinese green tea from Zheijiang, some of which resemble granulate. Pours clear straw (against white china) with no sediment. Decaf Green Tea from Triple Leaf Tea

May. 25th, 2022

The tea bags are wrapped in paper inside a cellophane-sealed cardboard box. After opening the package, I put them into an airtight container.

The dry tea has a faint, grassy smell. The brewing tea smells quite a bit fresher than I expected. It's vegetal, slightly tannic and recognizably green tea.

For a decaf gre...

An almost all-organic green tea-tisane blend, with Chinese green tea, apple, hibiscus, rosehip, strawberry, and strawberry flavoring. It has a very pleasant aroma and is offered at a good price. I like SerendipiTea's collection of flavored teas. In this, the apple and strawberry come through clearly, and the hibiscus...

I recently ordered some tea and bulk herbs from iherb.com. This Numi pu erh brick was novel enough that I couldn't pass it up. I'll say up front that I'm not a huge fan of shou pu erh, but I've tried enough varieties at varying price points and even found some that I enjoy that I should at least be able to tell what I'...

This was a special release from Upton, meant to be a replica of one of the teas tossed overboard during the Boston Tea Party. It is a blend of China Congou and Chinese Bohea - the latter is a new one for me. It originates in the Wuyi Mountains and may have been the first black tea sold to the British. Overall this i...
