Castleton China Black Tea from Udyan Tea
Style: Darjeeling Autumnal Flush – Region: Darjeeling, India97 / 100 Aroma: 10/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 5/5
Jan. 3rd, 2016
Wow. Udyan tea recently sent me some samples, and they are of impressive quality. This is the first sample I'm reviewing, and only the second tea I've ever tried from Castleton estate. It got my attention immediately as a top-quality tea.
The dry leaf of this tea is explosively aromatic and the aroma is extraordin...
Original Tulsi Tea from Organic India
Style: Tulsi / Holy Basil – Region: India80 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 3/5
Dec. 29th, 2015
This was my first experience with Tulsi or Holy Basil. I was extremely impressed. The aroma is warm and welcoming with hints of earth, cinnamon, and spices. The flavor is reminiscent of a spearmint tea with spices and perhaps cardamon and cloves. The flavor is well rounded and very enjoyable.
I haven't had it enou...
Season's Pick Assam GFOP from Upton Tea Imports
Style: Black Tea – Region: Assam, India73 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 3/5
Nov. 29th, 2015
I thought this a typical, middle-of-the-road Assam of good quality. but not mind-blowing. Good for people who value smoothness in a full-bodied tea.
Dry leaf has a mild fruity aroma. Brewed cup is very smooth, but rich and full-bodied. Aroma is predominately fruity, but also malty, with the fruitiness resembling ...
Okayti Silver Needle Darjeeling White Tea Second Flush from Golden Tips
Style: Silver Needle – Region: Darjeeling, India93 / 100 Aroma: 9/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 5/5
Nov. 16th, 2015
I thought this an exceptional tea, probably the best white tea I've ever sampled.
Another lost review that I somehow missed posting.
The leaf of this tea is wonderfully fragrant, with an aroma completely distinct from both Chinese silver needle teas, and the very different variants of them I've tried from Africa ...
Chai Classic (Formerly Organic Tazo Chai) from Tazo Tea
Style: Chai / Spiced Tea – Region: Assam, India77 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 3/5
Nov. 10th, 2015
As others have noted, clove and pepper come through in this tea. Cinnamon and other flavors are subtle. I added sugar and milk and really liked it. In short, as a bagged tea this one is pretty solid.

My nose needs improvement, I realize, but I smelled cinnamon as the dominant spice. Can cloves, which my fellow reviewers have noticed playing such a dominant role in this tea, mimic cinnamon to such a great degree? I don't know. Whether cinnamon or clove, one note drowns out all others. We live in a world where good c...

The aroma is grassy and fruity, but it doesn't stand out much. I found that steeping it for 3 minutes made it too watery for my taste. 5 minutes is better, but then the flavor is to some extent dominated by bitterness. I guess the tea just doesn't have much flavor, which is fine -- it's still smooth and comfortable ove...

This was my favorite Darjeeling from a tea bag yet.
The dry leaf of this tea, in the bag, smells amazing, even though it appears rather finely broken. There are sweet fruity notes, a hint of spice (caraway?) and some other qualities that I find distinctive but hard to describe.
Brews up a cup that is initially s...
Organic Assam from Harney and Sons
Style: Assam – Region: Assam, India73 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 4/5
Oct. 8th, 2015
The aroma is mild: you've got to put your nose pretty close to smell anything, and you don't get a whole lot even when you do. But, fear not, it does have some aroma. And that is "mild black tea," right out of central casting.
Low tannins, low bitterness, low astringency, low anything else that makes black tea unpl...
Mangalam Full from Harney and Sons
Style: Assam – Region: Sivasagar, Assam, India73 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 3/5

2014 harvest. A very pleasant tea that I have enjoyed drinking daily. Ever-so-slightly disappointing, but only after trying some of the Kenyan teas sold by Harney, which were cheaper yet which I still liked better. I think had I not bought this in such a batch of top-notch teas, it might have shined a bit brighter. I...

Tea Forte is all about packaging and presentation. That said - the actual teas are pretty darned good and their English Breakfast (I got it is part of a variety pack) is just fine. Brews up quickly and RICH and dark - you can get 2 maybe even 3 (although the 3rd will be weaker) infusions from one "elegant sachet".

Nice aroma, but a delicate tea, if you add a bit too much water. And as mentioned by earlier reviewer, loses that flavour if not kept sealed.

It reminds me of Adagio's english breakfast, but a little more bitter and with more flavor in general. At first I thought it was overwhelmingly bitter, but I got used to it. It's hearty, with some sweetness. Very astringent. Earthy. Fruity, maybe including a bit of lemon.

In my opinion, among the best offerings by Two Leaves Tea. This is a very well done Darjeeling. A bit pricy for bagged tea, but worth it when you're in the mood to splurge. It doesn't need a long steep, either. Mmmmmm. It's really hitting the spot tonight.

The aroma of the leaves is nothing short of bright and brisk! Like someone mixed up grapefruit peel, orange blossoms, wildflower honey, and lilies with a green broken vegetation undertone. It is really quite aromatic, and honestly kinda reminds me of my favorite soaps...not that this smells at all soapy, I just have a ...

I have been to Avaata Tea Estate in the Nilgiris in southern India. The natural tea leaves are perfect in shape and need not to be fermented. Each single sip of tea fills your mouth with sensation of fruits and flowers. Fairly sharp and extremely smooth flavor. Golden Tips Teas are doing great work to assemble best of ...

Magnificent! Not quite what I would expect form green tea; definitely thought is was more reminiscent of high quality green oolongs.
I couldn't get enough of the vegetal flavor and buttery soupy texture. This was a thick tea, and practically a meal in itself.
Handles well over multiple steepings; I'm pretty sure...

I can pick up notes of roses, grass, licorice, bay, tulsi, mysterious sharp spices, pepper, anise, fennel, so many layers and herbs! It is a plethora of plant and spice notes that manage to not be a cacophony or smell like a nasty medicinal brew, which is always a good sign.
The taste of this tea can be summed up i...

I had the opportunity to try some top-notch Assams lately, top grades of single estate teas, and this was a much lower grade, broken leaf, and blended, but it was surprisingly good for what it is.
The brewed cup isn't quite as malty as I usually expect for an Assam. It has some pleasant fruity notes in the aroma, a...
India's Original Masala Chai from Golden Tips

A traditional chai that is smooth in flavor but is potently spiced, and equally enjoyable with and without milk.
For having such a finely-broken (CTC) base, this tea is surprisingly mellow and smooth. The dry leaf smells very fresh and light, and the dominant aroma is cardamom, and I can also detect clove. This bo...

An edgy Darjeeling that was enjoyable, but not the best quality, even for a tea bag.
Brews a beautiful, golden-amber cup that is very clear. Medium- to light-bodied, but with a bold flavor. The aroma is fruity, but more lemony and less like the typical muscatel grape quality I associate with Darjeeling. There's a...

This is one of the best green teas I've tried to come out of India, or anywhere outside China and Japan for that matter. It also tasted the most like a top-notch Chinese green tea, of any tea I've tried yet from India.
The dry leaf of this tea is very loosely packed, consisting of whole, intact leaves which are lar...
