China Breakfast from Rishi Tea
Style: Yunnan Red – Region: Yunnan, China75 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 4/5
Apr. 30th, 2024
Classic Yunnan aroma, nice earthy/spice. Mild flavor, not acidic or sharp, slightly sweet after taste. Liquor (5 min steep) honey brown with a slight redness. For me, easy to sip. Overall, a good pick.

Style: Fruit (Herbal) Tea – Region: Blend55 / 100 Aroma: 9/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 1/5
Oct. 11th, 2023
This blend appears to be identical to Rishi's "Blueberry Rooibos" loose blend, based on its list of ingredients (organic: rooibos, hibiscus, elderberry, blueberry, schisandra berry). However, each serving is too small, packaged in about 1/4 of a typically sized pyramid sachet, then in turn, in a 2.5x3.5-inch plastic w...

This is my first unflavored puerh, so I don't have anything to compare it to. Mine was aged for 3 years so it might be slightly different from the normal version, but probably not that much. I had to air it out for a week to get rid of the smell of fish. Once that went away, the aroma of the dry leaves became earthy in...

Style: Yunnan Gold – Region: Yunnan, China80 / 100 Aroma: 10/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 3/5
Apr. 18th, 2017
While somewhat broken, the dry tea is in relatively large pieces and the golden tips that the style is known for are apparent. The aroma is malty with notes of raisins.
While brewing, the tea smells wonderful. The maltiness is pronounced, but tannic, leafy and perhaps mineral elements are also present.
The first ...
Turmeric Ginger from Rishi Tea
Style: Herbal Tea – Region: Blend53 / 100 Aroma: 5/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 3/5
Nov. 22nd, 2016
This is my first experience with a Turmeric blend, I was really more interested in the ginger quality, so I have limited context in which to review this tea.
The aroma of the dry leaf is a playful blend of ginger and citrus, which excited me a great deal.
There the excitement ended. The infusion itself was decen...
China Breakfast from Rishi Tea
Style: Yunnan Red – Region: Yunnan, China80 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 4/5
Aug. 8th, 2015
With many Chinese teas I find the bitterness to be somewhat overwhelming, but while this tea has some definite bitterness, it is pretty smooth and not at all unpleasant. It's a strong tea with a mild grassy aroma. Very astringent. A bit of a sour aftertaste. On the second steeping when the bitterness was significantly ...

Not bad, but a bit astringent (almost bitter) to my taste. It has a refreshing quality, too. This tea reminds me a lot of the teas I drank while living in Japan (though it's a Chinese tea).
Certainly worth giving a try. I always like the quality of Rishi teas.
Hibiscus Rooibos from Rishi Tea
Style: Flavored Rooibos – Region: Blend93 / 100 Aroma: 10/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 4/5
May. 5th, 2015
EXCELLENT flavor combination. I love the fruitiness and the slight astringency (not bitterness) from the hibiscus. Both complement the rooibos very well. This sounded very good to me, so I'm glad that Rishi doesn't disappoint. If the ingredients list sounds good to you, you'll love it too.
It resteeps multiple times...
Turmeric Ginger from Rishi Tea
Style: Herbal Tea – Region: Blend87 / 100 Aroma: 9/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 4/5

I am a huge fan of this tea. The aroma is a wonderful blend of sweetness and ginger. The taste is also great. There is a wonderful balance between the spiciness of the ginger and the sweetness of the licorice. You get the full flavor of ginger without the strong bitter/spicy taste. Overall a great pick for anyone who e...

Apr. 30th, 2015
Very pleased with this tea. It comes with an oversized wrapper that makes for a good place to set the bag between steeps. Within you'll find a reasonable roomy satchet full of choppy bits of flavorful sencha along with a modest sprinkling of matcha.
I like it. It's not the most complex sencha I've had, but it has a...
Chamomile Medley from Rishi Tea
Style: Chamomile Blend – Region: Blend80 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 4/5
Apr. 24th, 2015
Very good! Sweet, soothing, and rich without bitterness. One of the better blends I've found with peppermint. I actually tried this one in sachet form, but it's the same as their loose leaf. Definitely impressive for chamomile. I easily got two good cups out of it.

Very good! The tumeric is the most notable, followed by ginger, then lemon. The flavors are balanced very well. Perfect when you want something invigoratingly spicy at the perfect level of intensity.

Outstanding. Probably the best Four Seasons oolong I've ever tried. Rishi consistently impresses me with their oolongs! Thank you to Kelsey for letting me brew this from your sample.
The dry leaf is a beautiful green color, very tightly rolled, and has a strong aroma suggesting shortbread cookies and a hint of sp...
Masala Chai from Rishi Tea
Style: Chai / Spiced Tea – Region: Blend90 / 100 Aroma: 10/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 4/5

An excellent, high quality chai. The leaf smells so refreshing! I love the spice mixture.
I've tried this one a few different ways and have reached a few conclusions:
1) It's very nice even without milk and sugar.
2) If you want to make a latte, make sure the milk is heated at the same time as the water before...
Bao Zhong Oolong Tea from Rishi Tea
Style: Pouchong Tea – Region: Taiwan / Formosa87 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 4/5
Mar. 18th, 2015
Very soothing tea. This reminds me a lot of a tea I've tried before, but I honestly can't figure out which one. It tastes, perhaps, similar to a good milky oolong, even though that's a different kind?
Silky and slightly floral, no bitterness--a great tea for sipping while relaxing. I'll update the value rating afte...
Hibiscus Berry from Rishi Tea
Style: Herbal Tea – Region: Blend90 / 100 Aroma: 9/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 4/5
Mar. 14th, 2015
Very nice tea! Even the dry leaf is robustly fruity. Love the balance of fruitiness, tartness, and floral flavoring. The first cup had a nicer, redder color than the second, but the flavor was still good. There is no actual tea (or chamomile, rooibos, etc.) in this one; good for when you want flavor, but not caffeine. ...

If my heaven could exist in a teacup, I think I may have found it here.
I thought this tea was phenomenal. The silky smooth mouthfeel and the orchid, honeysuckle. and vegetal tones were to. die. for. I don't think I could get enough!
This tea lasts for multiple infusions; the first is by far the best, but I th...
Bao Zhong Oolong Tea from Rishi Tea

I thought this tea was exquisite, probably my favorite Bao Zhong ever sampled, and among my favorite greener oolongs.
The dry leaf is quite fragrant, with a pleasant floral and vegetal aroma, and a hint of roast.
Upon brewing, the tea takes on a greener character than suggested by the smell of the dry leaf, and t...
Yunnan Breakfast from Rishi Tea
Style: Yunnan Red – Region: Yunnan, China57 / 100 Aroma: 5/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 3/5

Pleasant for a black tea, not bitter, and seems to be of good quality, but it tastes pretty ordinary to me. Black tea isn't my favorite, but I like trying them to see what I'll find. I added milk and this improved it a bit. I don't have anything negative to say about this tea, but it isn't really for me.

Not bad, but not quite what I was hoping for. Ginger, lemon, and hibiscus are all dominant flavors--which sounds like it should be awesome, but for some reason didn't blend perfectly in this execution. There's nothing offensive about the flavor, though. Oh, and I did enjoy it more with food, so perhaps it simply needs ...

This is the most complex, multifaceted tea that I've tried in a very long time.
Purchased in a whole foods in the relatively new bulk tea section.
Dry leaf is beautiful, intact, and consists of irregularly curved, wiry leaf with both silvery and olive green parts. The dry leaf is strongly aromatic, with a fruity...
Bergamot Sage from Rishi Tea
Style: Herbal Tea – Region: Blend80 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 4/5

I loved the smell of this tea. The combo of sage and bergamot was exquisite, crisp, and just what I needed in the moment during a lazy day off. I definitely agree that there was a fresh wintergreen smell which gave this tea a spark.
This tea was a welcome break from my usual routine of vegetal teas, I'd drink ...
Pu-erh Ginger from Rishi Tea
Style: Flavored Pu-erh – Region: Blend70 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 3/5
May. 24th, 2014
Not sure about this one. I like the ginger. It's got a nice kick, which I enjoy, but the overall taste is a little weak. I brewed according to the directions, and steeped at the high end of the time range,
If I have enough left, I'll try using 1.5x to 2x the tea per 8 oz next time. I want to like this a little more...

Thank you to E. Alex Gerster for this one. I took a while to review it primarily because I tend not to be a huge fan of this type of tea. It looks like it's already been discontinued from Rishi's catalogue. There's no harvest or packing date printed on the container, so I don't know how old this is, but it tastes li...

Slowly but surely, I'm realizing that rooibos may be my favorite base for flavored teas. The aroma of this one before being brewed is intensely of blueberry, which I love. The flavor of the drink is both more subtle and more balanced. For me, this makes it a solid anytime tea. I brewed it fairly long, six minutes, but ...
