English Breakfast (Loose) from Twinings
Style: English Breakfast – Region: Blend62 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 2/5
Jul. 26th, 2017
The commercial description of this tea is pretty grandiose...it makes it sound like a masterpiece of blending, and I would say it's not.
To me, this is a classic but somewhat run-of-the-mill blend that is enjoyable but stands out in no way. I would not describe it as complex, although it's a good bit more complex, ...
Camomile, Honey & Vanilla from Twinings
Style: Herbal Tea – Region: Blend47 / 100 Aroma: 4/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 3/5
Jul. 12th, 2014
I sampled this recently at the house of two of my friends; thank you to my friends Melanie and Irene for letting me try this one.
Aroma is mostly of camomile and vanilla, balanced between the two, with neither dominating. The honey is evident in the aroma, but is relatively subtle. Flavor is mild, muted. Low astr...
English Breakfast Decaffeinated from Twinings
Style: English Breakfast – Region: ?????50 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 2/5 Value: 2/5
Jun. 21st, 2014
I was surprised to find this tea tasted completely different from the caffeinated version of Twinings English Breakfast. The caffeinated tea, I found bland and uninteresting.
This wasn't exactly the most flavorful tea. I brewed with boiling water and steeped for three minutes. Flavor is muted, but the aroma has p...
Lemon Twist from Twinings
Style: Lemon Black Tea – Region: ?????40 / 100 Aroma: 4/10 Flavor: 2/5 Value: 2/5
Jan. 2nd, 2014
Thanks to E. Alex Gerster for this sample. It was not my cup of tea but was interesting to try!
This tea smells lemony, but not intensely so. The lemon is a bit artificial smelling, more suggestive of lemon lifesavers or other lemon candy than natural lemon-scented herbs or actual lemon fruit. There is a hint of ...
Breakfast Blend 100% Organic & Fair Trade Certified Tea from Twinings
Style: Black Tea – Region: Blend53 / 100 Aroma: 4/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 2/5
Dec. 11th, 2013
The third and last of my recent batch of free samples from Twinings; thank you again!
The tea bag is more aromatic than most. Brews a rich, strong cup, but the cup is not very aromatic.
Very strong flavor. I think this is stronger even than Twinings' Irish Breakfast, but it is quite different from either of the...
Darjeeling from Twinings
Style: Darjeeling Black Tea – Region: Darjeeling, India47 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 2/5 Value: 2/5
Dec. 3rd, 2013
Obtained through Twinings' free samples program, so I know the tea bag was fresh. Thank you to Twinings for the free sample!
The dry tea bag doesn't smell like much of anything. Upon brewing, it has a slightly stronger aroma, but overall the aroma is weak. I steeped for 3 minutes with boiling water.
Dark in co...
English Afternoon from Twinings
Style: Black Tea – Region: ?????53 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 2/5 Value: 3/5
Nov. 22nd, 2013
I received this as one of the three samples in Twinings free samples program. One thing I like about using a program like this is that I can be sure that the bag is fresh--which isn't always the case if I obtain the tea bag in a trade or sample it when out at some event or at another person's house. Twinings only gav...

Style: Flavored Black Tea – Region: Blend37 / 100 Aroma: 4/10 Flavor: 2/5 Value: 1/5
Nov. 18th, 2013
I strongly disliked this one, which is perhaps to be expected, as I dislike Twinings regular chai, although I thought this one was much worse. The nut aroma seemed artificial, the base tea was weak and uninteresting, and I didn't like the choice or blend of spices.
The aroma seems very artificial, and somewhat unpl...
Decaffeinated Chai (Chai Decaf) from Twinings
Style: Chai / Spiced Tea – Region: ?????53 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 2/5 Value: 3/5
Oct. 11th, 2013
This one sort-of works--as the spices make it matter a lot less that the base tea is as bland as it is.
I tried this out of curiosity, open to the possibility that I might pour it out without drinking (as I have with some decaf teas). I was pleasantly surprised, which in retrospect, makes considerable sense, since ...
Irish Breakfast Decaffeinated from Twinings
Style: Irish Breakfast – Region: ?????37 / 100 Aroma: 4/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 1/5
Oct. 4th, 2013
I admit, I'm a tough customer when it comes to decaf tea--I just don't like it. I tried this out of curiosity, in a sense, to see relatively how bad it was.
Twinings Irish Breakfast, in my opinion, is a pretty decent tea--it's one of my favorite ones, and I like it much more than their English Breakfast, so this wa...
Orange & Cinnamon Spice from Twinings
Style: Herbal Tea – Region: Blend30 / 100 Aroma: 2/10 Flavor: 2/5 Value: 1/5
Jun. 29th, 2013
This tea has a strong aroma of orange, but the aroma seems artificial...a little like orange-flavored popsickles, orange starburst, Sunny D, or any number of artificial orange-flavored things.
I found this tea also left a tingly sensation on my palate...similar to blends including clove. I didn't taste much clove i...
Pomegranate & Raspberry from Twinings
Style: Fruit (Herbal) Tea – Region: Blend53 / 100 Aroma: 4/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 3/5
Apr. 26th, 2013
I enjoyed this blend much more than I thought I would, and much more than typical for a fruity herbal blend in a tea bag. It's very light and pleasant.
Brews a cup with a pale pink color and a very fruity aroma that I find cloying.
In spite of the off-putting aroma, the flavor is much more subdued and pleasant, ...
Nightly Calm (Bedtime Blend) from Twinings
Style: Herbal Tea – Region: Blend47 / 100 Aroma: 5/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 3/5
Apr. 19th, 2013
This tastes a lot like a knock-off of Celestial Seasonings Sleepytime. I love the combination of spearmint and chamomile. It's very good...but I don't like the fact that it's so unoriginal.
The dominant aroma is of spearmint and chamomile...I don't notice either of the lemony herbs very much.
I think Twinings g...
English Breakfast from Twinings
Style: English Breakfast – Region: ?????47 / 100 Aroma: 4/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 2/5
Apr. 12th, 2013
I thought this tea uninteresting. As an English Breakfast tea, I strongly prefer Twinings Ceylon Orange Pekoe. If they labelled that tea as their English Breakfast, I'd be perfectly convinced.
This tea has a very bold flavor. It is quite bitter--more so than astringent, which I like. Produces a clear cup with a ...
Irish Breakfast from Twinings
Style: Irish Breakfast – Region: ?????60 / 100 Aroma: 5/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 3/5
Apr. 10th, 2013
This is a pretty decent, strong black tea bag. I don't quite like it as much as Twinings' Ceylon Orange Pekoe, but it's close, and it's bolder tasting. The teabag contains fine dust, but it produces a good flavor.
Aroma is malty and rich; a few of the wintergreen tones I so love in tea, and the finish is mostly of...
Lapsang Souchong from Twinings
Style: Lapsang Souchong – Region: ?????53 / 100 Aroma: 5/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 3/5
Nov. 7th, 2011
My rating is low because I tend not to like this style of tea. I actually think this tea was very good, more enjoyable than some loose-leaf Lapsang souchong that I've tried.
This is a classic Lapsang Souchong from a tea bag. It has a strong smoky aroma, and smooth, mellow flavor. Unlike some of the other reviewer...
Pure White Tea from Twinings
Style: White Tea – Region: Fujian, China20 / 100 Aroma: 2/10 Flavor: 1/5 Value: 1/5
Mar. 7th, 2011
Among my least favorite bagged teas that I've tried. Aroma very weak: vaguely floral and then dissipating into a stale, tea-like aroma. Pale cup has a muddled flavor, with a little bitterness and more astringency than I'd like, and a little sourness too. I would not drink this again.
My advice is to stick to Twin...
Ceylon Orange Pekoe from Twinings
Style: Ceylon Black Tea – Region: Matale, Sri Lanka (Dimbula)63 / 100 Aroma: 5/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 4/5
Feb. 28th, 2011
A classic British-style Ceylon tea. Medium-strength black tea with a fairly clean, cool taste. Moderate bitterness and astringency, little sourness. Maltier and deeper than some Ceylons.
Above average among Twinings offerings and better than what I typically expect from a tea bag. This is an example of a tea tha...
Pure Rooibos Red Tea (African Rooibos) from Twinings
Style: Rooibos – Region: South Africa60 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 4/5
Jul. 8th, 2010
The quality of this rooibos surprised me...it's surprisingly aromatic, and more fruity than most. Almost no astringency, and slightly sweet. Less of the unpleasant tones in the aroma that some rooibos has. So far, the best rooibos I've tried in teabags, other than Equal Exchange's wild rooibos in pyramid sachets.

Earl Grey Decaffeinated from Twinings
Style: Earl Grey Tea – Region: ?????33 / 100 Aroma: 4/10 Flavor: 2/5 Value: 1/5
May. 20th, 2010
Exceptionally lemony and citrusy for an Earl Grey...there's only a weak suggestion of the usual bergamot aroma. The aroma is more like candied lemon than Earl Grey tea, and it has an artificial quality to it. The black tea presence is entirely unremarkable...although this tea brews a dark color, there is little other...

Style: Vanilla Black Tea – Region: Blend30 / 100 Aroma: 2/10 Flavor: 2/5 Value: 1/5
May. 19th, 2010
I disliked this tea...the vanilla aroma is fairly strong but has an artificial quality to it. It also doesn't blend well with the black tea. Admittedly, vanilla-flavored tea is not one of my favorites, but when well executed, it is creamy and smooth and yet having some depth. This one just comes across as vanilla pu...

Style: Peppermint Tea – Region: ?????53 / 100 Aroma: 5/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 2/5
May. 17th, 2010
Less of the strong peppermint aroma than most peppermint teas...very dark in color, unusually so...more of the general leafy/herbaceous aroma. Not at all sour and very little bitterness or sweetness...this is primarily an aromatic tea.
Noticeably more complexity than Lipton's peppermint. Among bagged peppermint te...
Herbal Revive - Cherries and Madagascan Cinnamon from Twinings
Style: Herbal Tea – Region: Blend40 / 100 Aroma: 3/10 Flavor: 2/5 Value: 2/5
May. 14th, 2010
This tea brews a deep purplish red color...aroma is strong and artificial...suggestive of maraschino cherries, not like a real cherry. The brewed cup seems like it has a significant amount of hibiscus, both from the color and the sourness--this tea isn't quite as sour as Celestial seasonings' zingers or Tazo's passion...
Read Full ReviewAfrican Honeybush, Mandarin and Orange from Twinings
Style: Flavored Honeybush – Region: ?????43 / 100 Aroma: 3/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 2/5
May. 12th, 2010
Aroma mostly of orange...no noticeable honeybush characteristics in the aroma, although the honeybush imparts a reddish brown color and a pleasant full-bodied character to this tea. The orange aroma has very little complexity. Nondescript flavor...not really sweet, sour, or bitter...this is a rather neutral tea that ...

Style: Fruit Black Tea – Region: ?????43 / 100 Aroma: 5/10 Flavor: 2/5 Value: 2/5
May. 6th, 2010
Unremarkable base black tea in this blend...not very aromatic. Fruity aroma is natural and pleasant, however...fairly strong but not overwhelming. Flavor is mostly sour...not so much that it's too sour but that there isn't really anything other than sourness in the flavor.
I found this tea to be disappointing. A ...
