Awake English Breakfast Filterbag from Tazo Tea
Style: English Breakfast – Region: Blend68 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 4/5

After bringing this breakfast tea home from a conference, I tried it at dinnertime while eating a tub of cottage cheese. The tea brewed up very dark, quickly, such that a spoon disappeared from view below about the top two inches of liquid. This wasn't too surprising, considering how finely chopped the dry-bag leaves...

I found this box of tea at a natural health store on my lunch hour. Most places that carry Prince of Peace tea don't carry black tea, so I grabbed them. The 100 tea bags are individually wrapped in paper, so I transferred them to an airtight container after removing the plastic seal from the box.
The unbleached pape...

Like Okie, I found this tea at La Quinta in Sacramento. It was the only tea offering. I wasn't impressed, not much flavor or aroma. Certainly nothing I'd call malty about this. Maybe it was just old?

A remarkably smooth tea able to be brewed super strongly. This tea reminded me of Kenyan teas: it was strong and smooth, and not terribly aromatic, but with some of the qualities I like best in a tea.
This was the lowest grade of the three teas I tried from this company, and it was still surprisingly good. The leaf ...

A brisk Assam with a slight harshness, but also more interesting than most.
Thank you to my friend Janina for bringing this back to me from Germany! This was one of three Assams I sampled from Teekörbchen Gelnhausen, and it was good, and aptly described. It's also the first tea I've sampled from Nagaon, a district ...

I love tea, I used to buy this tea at a shop in Seattle which closed. When I went to Paris I stopped in and found this again, now I order all my tea from Dammann.
This tea is a smooth black hint of assamm with wonderful chocolate finish, Perfect for a desert tea.

This is a perfectly good Lapsang Souchong. Smoky and lightly bitter, but not harsh. Slightly aromatic finish.

Solid Assam, with a woody flavor and some ironic tannins, but still smooth. Certainly worth the bargain price.

Thanks to Greg and Inge for this Christmas gift. A malty and complex Assam that feels very nice on the palate. This went very well with soy milk, which is not what always happens when I add soy milk. A treat for sure.

Kind of expensive - and it is NOT a first flush (light/sweet) Darjeeling - but it is good. Not a holy grail but a decent variety for Darjeeling - and I love Wegman's, so there's that. Twinings bagged Darjeeling (likely Autumnal Flush) is darker but smoother. This one (Wegman's Darjeeling) comes loose and brews up fu...

Cheap Darjeeling? How is this possible? I am a first flush Darjeeling kinda gal and Twinings actual makes a (definitely not first flush, but good enough)bagged Darjeeling that is CHEAP and easy to find. "Devonshire" has one of the most full-bodied dry-bag aromas I've gotten from a breakfast tea, and unusually, it nearly matches the flavor for intensity. I detected virtually no difference between dry-bag scent, in-cup scent, and taste, the latter likewise being straightforwardly well-constructed within a nice, dark br...

Smells earthy, like a pu-erh, or one of the less sweet Yunnan blacks.
Numi's website says that this tea contains Keemun and that's the first impression I get from the flavor; it's full of dark molasses and prunes or raisins with a bit of cocoa. The finish is dryer, and the earthiness I noticed in the aroma lingers. ...

When I was in England... the English gifted me with this tea. They said to me, "Here. Our tea of England. Drink it, and become English." And that I did... The truth is, this tea carries some spiritual essence of England within it's leaves. I don't know if England intentionally grows spiritual tree's in their lands, but...

(Retired) An interesting tea that is good with just a little sugar and it can take milk as well. Lemon is doable too but not the best. There is a light prunelike sweetness that comes thru in the moderately robust flavor.

For a budget priced tea, I am very happy with this. Reasonably robust and flavorful, this shines on ice but is good hot too. Blends well with citrus and sugar. This is also an excellent choice for Indian masala chai. A very versatile and well priced tea. I've ordered it several times now.

For a simple tea, this has to have the most convoluted backstory for any I've tried. First, the tea itself: it had remarkably weak dry-bag and wet-bag aromas for what seemed to be a high-quality, single-estate tea, though in-cup, the smell was richer and fairly basic. The flavor wasn't particularly strong or bold, bu...

Somehow I let this sample that I bought slip through the cracks and only am trying it now. Unfortunately, it's no longer for sale. A shame, because I thought it outstanding!

This tea was more pleasant than interesting. I liked it a lot, but found it hard to write as much about it. I also thought it was slightly overpriced.

The dry tea has the same basic smell of other blended Darjeelings. It's smells of dry leaves in autumn, a bit oaky and of raw pecans.
I tend to find Darjeeling teas to be somewhat more delicate than I'd prefer. This one is no exception, but I also wouldn't call it weak. It's lightly astringent with a very mild bitte...

Without beating around the bush, this is a really good Sri Lankan/Ceylon tea. This seems to be one of the few brands of bagged tea that selected Sri Lankan tea for its flavors rather than for simply being "mild". This tea is remarkably similar in flavor to Ahmad and Alwazah branded Ceylon teas that are available from M...

This was among the most interesting teas I've tried in a long time, both aromatically and with respect to mouthfeel. It was the first pure tea I've tried from Zhi, and it may be the first tea from this company to wow me. It had an unusual character somewhere in between that of a black tea and a Pu-erh, but not like rip...
