Apricot Decaf Fair Trade Certified from Republic of Tea
Style: Fruit Black Tea – Region: Blend73 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 4/5
Feb. 6th, 2015
Very solid tea. This is another one that reminds me of oatmeal with fruit bits in it. The tea is well balanced, not bitter, and slightly creamy. The apricot works great too. Quite pleasant, especially if you're needing something caffeine free. Not a top flavor for me, but one I could see myself occasionally craving. Th...

As far as Earl Grey goes, this tea is a wonderfully balanced and soft-on-the-palate tea. It also happens to be one of few Earl Greys that takes on more aroma after steeping.
I find it to be a bit overpriced, but it's very possible that I don't comprehend its true value. On the occasions where Marriage Frères is the...

I first had this chai as part of Teanzo's advent calendar.
Dry leaf: Coconut Cream Pie with spices
Liquor Color: Cocoa Cola brown

Earl Grey Blue Flowers from Tea Palace
Style: Earl Grey Tea – Region: Blend80 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 4/5
Jan. 22nd, 2015
This is a smooth and mellow Earl Grey tea; check it out when in the UK.
To the traditional mix of china black tea and bergamot, Tea Palace adds dried blue malva flowers which smooth out the tea and add a hint of sweetness. It is one of their best selling teas.
I haven't found anything similar in the US. Some ea...
Troika from Kusmi Tea
Style: Flavored Black Tea – Region: Blend80 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 3/5

This is my first time trying any of Kusmi’s Teas! I took advantage of one of their free shipping/% off deals and boy am I glad that I did! I am not too much into Earl Grey nowadays, though I used to be a big ‘double bergamot’ person. Times have changed for me I suppose :P This is an Earl Grey with additional thin...

This mild, pleasant tea has a strong smell out of the bag but a mild one in the cup.
I like eating cranberries for food, but wasn’t sure about as a focus note in tea. It’s in the background and almost makes me want to say it’s an astringent feel, but it’s not. It’s natural and not artificial, not stron...
Wild Raspberry from Octavia Tea
Style: Fruit Black Tea – Region: Blend40 / 100 Aroma: 4/10 Flavor: 2/5 Value: 2/5
Jan. 14th, 2015
I tend not to like these sorts of fruit-flavored blends, and this was no exception. Sampled at Velvet Sky in Jenkintown.
The dry leaf has a cloying raspberry aroma.
Upon brewing, produces a bright red cup that seems to smell more like raspberry jam (and a bit like strawberry) than anything else. Flavor is quite...
Lady Grey from Twinings
Style: Fruit Black Tea – Region: Blend80 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 5/5

This tea has a soft flavor. It has a good citrus aroma and leaves a creamy aftertaste that I like. I may be biased in my verdict since I love Earl Grey teas.
It is good without any sugar, milk, honey... or anything. It is soft enough on its own.
I don't know where to by this one specifically since I've received i...
Earl Grey from Higgins & Burke

This is the first Earl Grey I ever tasted, and I haven't yet found one that is equivalent.
The aroma isn't too strong, but I like it anyway.
It seem to me that the flavor is what to be expected of an Earl Grey Tea. Compared to the other Earl Grey teas that I've tasted, this one feels more pure, without any aftertas...

Style: Earl Grey Tea – Region: Blend63 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 3/5

A relatively bold-flavored Earl Grey, strong on the bergamot, and a little perfumey. Another sample brought back from Germany.
The leaf is broken, but the pieces of leaf are relatively large. Leaf is very aromatic, and smells fresh, and mostly of bergamot.
Brewed as recommended, 2 minutes, produces a richly col...

A pleasant tea that reminds me of a Giovanni Cocoa powder I had in my cupboard for awhile. This double chocolate cocoa powder smelled great but was kind of crappy as a hot chocolate – I’m NOT saying this is crappy as a cocoa tea, but they remind me of each other. Basically the taste of THIS reminds me of the aroma ...

Sampled in a Panera bread in suburban Delaware. Worth trying, but I wouldn't get it again; I tend not to like decaf teas, and I thought this was towards the lower end of decaf teas I've tried.
The tea bag sinks to the bottom of the cup and requires stirring to mix up the flavor. Pleasantly aromatic, and smell like...
Golden Orchid from Whispering Pines
Style: Vanilla Black Tea – Region: Blend93 / 100 Aroma: 10/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 4/5

This tea is soooo good. The dry tea smells like melted vanilla-flavoured chocolate. That delicious dessert-y experience extends right into the scent of the brewing tea, and then the taste of the tea itself. Rich, chocolatey, creamy, delicious. I've tasted chocolate-flavoured teas that were a lot less chocolatey than th...

My first Whispering Pines tea! I chose this in part because I wanted to try the roasted cedar and vanilla bean (and several of the blends with those ingredients were out of stock when I placed my order). This is a really interesting and unique tea. When I first smelled it dry, I couldn’t place any of the flavours...
Pumpkin Chai from DAVIDsTEA

I tried this before, just brewed western-style, and it was ok but not great. So this time I decided to do it the David’s Tea recommended way: simmered on the stove. 1 cup each of milk and water, 6g (two generous teaspoons) of tea, 2 tsp of brown sugar (I used organic sucanat because… it was there). Bring to a b...
Earl Grey from Bigelow Tea
Style: Earl Grey Tea – Region: Blend67 / 100 Aroma: 5/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 4/5
Dec. 10th, 2014
This might be my favorite among the Bigelow teas I've tried for its combination of caffeine and taste. But having tried Ahmad Tea's Earl Grey loose leaf first, I have trouble calling this one a particularly good version of the blend. It delivers a kick with a smooth, interesting taste, but it's not going to be my go-to...

I normally don't like flavored teas, but I thought this one was excellent in quality.
The dry leaf of this has an interesting appearance, with big, round pieces of CTC leaf, mixed with blue and red strands. The aroma of the dry leaf is a bit cloying, but fortunately, upon brewing it becomes more balanced.
The cu...
Earl Grey (Loose) from Ahmad Tea
Style: Earl Grey Tea – Region: Blend77 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 5/5

One of my favorite blends--particularly with respect to the price. The flavor is smooth, the citrus noticeable but neither fake nor overwrought; and no matter how long I let this steep, I don't detect any bitterness. I bought 100 grams to start out with, but I expect this to be a staple of my tea cabinet from now on.

This an excellent steep! I feel you get a 5 star Earl Grey product for the price of a 3 star product and thats why I give this tea a perfect rating. Cheap, amazing in both flavor and aroma, and a overall great tea.

So, how does this tea smell? Good, like really good, like a vanilla bean and almond infused biscotti dipped in chocolate with a touch of coconut sitting next to a steaming cup of rich, malty, black tea. Sniffing this tea makes me feel under-dressed and lacking elegance, clearly I should be wearing something pretty whil...

This tea is notably tastier than I was expecting. The mint was an accent, not dominant (and it wasn't spearmint, which is good). The tomato and decaf tea blended so that the flavor was more vegetal than tomato-like. I wouldn't have minded a stronger tomato taste, but overall the balance is quite good. So another decent...

This is an excellent twist on your standard black tea--light with a faint sweetness which adds a delicacy not typically seen in your average morning brew. It is a pleasure to drink cold-brewed or hot, although those who consider the perfume of a tea to be among the most important parts of the experience may come away d...

The leaves themselves have a very deep vanilla smell and, when brewed, it changes to a subtle fruity aroma with a nutty hint. It's not as bitter as I expected it would be without sugar - you can definitely taste the apricot. It's not bad exactly, but it is sort of a let down. Two teaspoons of sugar bring out the vanill...
